Well, to find out, Bored Panda reached out to Greg Newkirk, full-time paranormal investigator and founder of the world’s only mobile museum of the unexplained. For the last two and a half decades, Newkirk has been tracking down and investigating cases of high strangeness ranging from flying saucer crashes to cursed artifacts and everything in between.

“If you just moved into a house and it doesn't feel quite right, remember that anything but a brand new home has spent years soaking up the experiences, actions, and emotions of the people who have lived inside it,” Newkirk explained. It turns out that many paranormal researchers—including himself—believe that intense emotional states can create some kind of lingering bond with a location, which most people can pick up on unconsciously, the investigator explained.
“My advice, as silly as it might sound, is to talk to your new home, introduce yourself, explain why you're there and that you plan to care for the space. This kind of introduction can make a big difference, because even if you don't believe in ghosts or the paranormal, it can act as a kind of positive affirmation that will help you settle in.”

Hard to tell, but the door is only 4 feet tall and 1.5 feet across (lamp for scale). It's got a light built into it and is painted light green. Metal grate on inside and outside of the door. Ceiling at its highest is a little over 4 feet. I'm hunched down to take these pics.
This is a creepy room upstairs at the far end of the attic at the house I just moved into. This house is overall about 60 years old, and apparently, the previous owner was the head of a church (don't know if that means priest or what)
that looks more like a prison cell, that would be playing in my mind all the time, of what realy happened there.

Moreover, “common experiences in haunted homes range from the subtle feeling of being watched all the way up to visual manifestations of what we'd call ghosts. I've found that the longer you go without acknowledging these kinds of anomalies, the more pronounced they'll get until they're basically demanding your attention,” he explained.

That's a grave marker. They are used to mark a person's spot when they purchase a plot, sort of like "dibs!".

It is illegal to bury someone on your property. Since this has a marker, I assume permission was given at one time, but it had to have been a long, long time ago and this doesn't look that old. If the house is on a location of a cemetery that had to be relocated (this happens more than you'd believe...) sometimes they leave a grave or two if it was the land of and original founder of the area or there is no body there. They can look to see if there's a coffin by using metal detectors or a portable xray type machine. Or dig down and see what you hit after 6 feet. If there is no coffin, they might not bother to move this because it's heavy, costs them money and it's not searchable to find a relative. This could also be be base of a tall usually obelisk-type monument that was removed or collapsed long ago. No one would really bother to move it-no ID, etc. You can always contact the police and they can have it scanned. Otherwise, it's kinda neat!
Not scary. He obviously married a granite block who got a tattoo as a sign of their love. It was set in stone. A love story for the stone ages.

I am siding with the mounting block folks on this. It's a very odd shape for a memorial marker, and I can't imagine engraving only WIFE. It is the custom, even in hand etched stones, to at least give a family name and date. Also, someone else posted that it doesn't look that old, and it really doesn't. Can you ask the previous owner? Public records will have the names of all the owners.

That's a head stone or a memorial stone.Many people have them in their yards. Typically from ww2 Era or before
Old grave stones were often used to build houses, used as a step or mounting block... could be a moved cemetery or just an "error".
This is actually legal in most states if ashes are buried there. I'm assuming that you bought from someone other than the owner, who probably passed away before he had a chance to move his wife's ashes+headstone.

Just moved into my first house about 2 weeks ago. Just starting to get settled in. Bought the house for a very cheap price. The previous owner was very old and passed away. The house is very old, but for the price, it was perfect for a first house.
When I first toured the house the basement was way worse than it is now. The previous owner hadn't moved anything out yet. The basement was pretty full with junk. They cleaned most of the stuff in the basement out, so I had to clear some stuff out. But here it is now with some stuff that I don't really need and will probably get rid of soon.
While sorting things out in the basement I noticed this sheet of plywood that oddly fit in. I have had the house for 2 weeks and never noticed it. I decided that I didn't want to keep it down there so I tried to move it. It is pinched pretty hard against the stairs so it was pretty hard to get out.

I found a bunch of baby teeth individually wrapped in tissue paper, in a keepsake tin, figured the previous occupants--an elderly couple who had moved into an assisted living place--had simply forgotten them. I guessed that they had kept their kids'/grandkids' teeth as part of the "tooth fairy" thing. Got their new address from the landlord and mailed the box to them. Proud of my good deed, I mentioned it to Holly, my neighbor. "That's funny," she said. "They didn't have children."

We rent a converted storefront on the main street of "TrekTown." Building's about 100 years old. Thought there was a closet in the back corner of the living room when we first moved in... Turns out to be a stairwell that goes down to a brick-walled basement that's chronically damp and leaking. But the scary part is that there's this little closet-like room (no door) with a concrete slab bed (about 12" clearance beneath it, built straight into the wall) occupying most of the floor space. Whole room is about the size of a jail cell.
I should not have looked at this. I should not have looked at this. I SHOULD NOT HAVE LOOKED AT THIS! I don't believe in supernatural stuff, but I still get super creeped out by it. Now, I'm off to go find a post about cats.

Here's an incomplete list of things that are harmless and should not cause any kind of rational fear: Clowns. Dolls. Ouija boards (see following list). Rocking chairs. Attics. Basements. The dark. Old hospitals. Unidentified creaking sounds in an old house at night... Here's a list of things that do not exist, and so shouldn't ever worry you: Ghosts. Evil spirits. Demons. Witches. Curses. Aliens. (I would add other items to this last list, but I'm probably already going to be downvoted into oblivion).
