There is something extremely satisfying about minimalism, and not just from an aesthetic perspective either. The clean, free feeling that comes with a life devoid of excess and clutter is also good for our mental health, giving us space to breathe and concentrate on things more important and fulfilling than the acquisition of material goods.
There are certain things that we do still need however. While marketing gurus come up with ever more complex and distracting ways of catching the eye, this list, compiled by Bored Panda, is all about gorgeous minimalist design. Objects and products stripped down to their bare essentials, leaving nothing but what is absolutely necessary. There is so much beauty in their simplicity, it makes us want to go home, clear out all the unnecessary clutter and start all over again!

At least 3 places to plug in cords (cannot see the bottom surface of the cube), and the cube doesn't really stick out any further than most cords do. To me, this isn't any worse than the stupid rocker design light switches I'm stuck with in my entire house.

Oo, this might be a good time to ask the wonderful BP brains trust! About 15 years ago there was a little computer game getting around called Aliens, where the task was to beam up in about three minutes as many farmers with shotguns, farmer's wives, FBI agents, aliens, and cows as you could. Does anyone know where to get a copy, or an emulator? I'd be super rapt if I could find it again.

They're really beautiful, still it bugs me a little that you can't tell which one it is from the cover. Deathly Hallows and Goblet of Fire are pretty obvious, but the rest... Snake could be Chamber of Secrets or Half Blood Prince. Quill could be anything.

I can see a few things wrong with this. Most notably the fact the inner knives could slowly come loose and cut you when you are grabbing the knife or getting something from the same drawer.

Out here in Arizona it is usually too hot to stand by a grill in the sun, so people put them under their eaves and fill their houses with carbon monoxide. This will make that a lot more convenient.

My dad actually mistakenly burned this book when I was in High School. It was summer reading but I was sick before the first day of school and threw up on it when it was laying next to my bed. It was too late to go out and get a new one, so my Dad rinsed it off in water and tried to dry it out in the microwave. Everything looked fine until he opened the book and it burst into flames. We suspect that the temperature on the inside of the book was hot enough but didnt have enough oxygen until he opened it to burn. The next day I had to go to school and tell my teacher that I hadn’t finished the book because my Dad had accidentally burned it. I s**t you not!

Now they just need to design the steering wheel and pedal placement so they can be moved over to let whoever is in the passenger seat drive without having to stop and exchange places with the driver. There was a concept car built with this feature several decades ago. Steering wheel was attached to an arm mounted to the center of the dash. It could swing over to the passenger side. I think it came equipped with two sets of pedals, and placement of steering wheel activated the appropriate set of pedals.

Be a nightmare to clean with those corners. Think I'll stick to the easier to clean bowl shape thanks. Design is all very well but it should improve or match function - not make it something you'd need to clean with a bottle brush or old toothbrush!

Ah, the epitome of style over practicality. This looks great and I'm sure it would be a nightmare in real life. Square angles tend to splash a lot, and, especially with water coming from that height, it'll just go everywhere. And I'm not sure how easy the drain is to clean. Maybe that corner cube lifts up so you can do it? And of course, imagine this on a weekday, with dried splotches and streaks of water all over, maybe some dings and abrasions to the glass one year in...

Wow, this is so wront. Pharmaceuticals should never be taken lightly, and even if it is just an aspirin. Pain? Depenring on your medical history, it makes a huge difference if it is Aspirin, paracetamol, ibuprofen etc.

Well it labels what is inside. Example: for the I have an aching body packet, it clearly says 16 ibuprofen tablets. It's not like you don't know what you are swallowing/using. I personally love this idea and think the design is very nice.

Good point having worked with visually impaired people the answer is possibly - depends on the colours used. Research showed that yellow and blue were the easiest colours for partially sighted people to see with dark blue on yellow. The contrast is important.

Too many companies try to imitate the big brands labels, thus their copyrights include many of the graphic items and colors used. These designs are beautiful but too hard to be copyrighted, if they were adopted by the big brands they would immediately be copied in a successful manner (take the white on see through print of the Nutella dose). The risk is that distracted customers may end up buying their competitor’s products, so they will hardly ever adopt such sleek designs.

I Scraped The Labels Off Some Voss Water Bottles To Re-Use. The Result Looked Pretty Nice

To remove labels from plastic containers, fillf with hot water and let sit for a couple of minutes then peel off label. Dab any remaining adhesive with sticky side of label or some tape to remove. Use a hair dryer to warm up labels on objects that won't hold hot water.

I think these bottles, while elegant looking, are very hard to hold, hard to open, and hard to grip. A local restaurant uses them for salad dressing. It is not easy to use them.

My new Discover card is like this. The numbers are printed on the back along with the expiration date, your name, and the 3-digit security code. I am STILL not in favor, they issued these in 6 various colors which are ALL you can choose from...my previous card had Monet water lilies on it. Over six months and I'm STLL brassed off about this, lol!

I was thinking the same, and although I'd find a digital version with a transparent liquid crystal display much easier to implement: Yes I would consider an analog watch doable, as well. Imagine for example two round glass discs stacked on each other, both with engraved hour and minute hands, respectively. The trick would be to turn these discs individually but still linked.

There were no animals at the nativity except for Joseph's donkey and the lamb the shepherds brought. The other animal were a show. The story of them being there was put about by St. Francis of Assisi, hoping that making including them in the Nativity story would have people treat the same animals he mentioned in the story that were around in his time receive better treatment because they were allowed to be close to Jesus and the Holy Family.

Sometimes my husband and I will go walking down through the little shops that are in a city close to where I live. A specialty shop was opened up recently. All the windows were tinted, and it was very difficult to see what was inside. There was no store name visible at the time...just a poster in the big window, which was black, with a lighter black tube similar to this photo on it, and the tube was standing on its cap. It had no label on it. At the bottom of the poster, it said this: "Lube - we know our place".

I-it does have two hands... The one you're probably missing is the colour shown i.e. the whole front of the clock... I'm also guessing the coloured ring turns slowly behind the white turning front so it's blue for night, yellow for day, multi-coloured for sunset. If not I should be a designer xD

Most of these look really nice. The interior designs also promise "less is more". However, much, particularly when it comes to consumables, is rather unpractical and "conceptual art" at best, cheap products at worst.

Personally, when it comes to interior design, I prefer something like the typical Victorian design - homey but more decorated or intricate. To me, a lot of minimalist furniture just make me think "empty art museum". There's often too much white, for one thing.
