For the average consumer, food packaging is nothing more than a necessary evil to keep their produce safe. Food containers aren't there to be admired or appreciated, and it'll end up in the recycle bin just as soon as the box or package is empty. But as you can see from these intuitive and innovative food package designs of cool products, that doesn't have to be the case.

I bought my mom a pack of very expensive flowering teabags (not this particular brand) and they did NOT look like the pictures on the packaging. They showed dainty flowers floating on top of the tea - what you got was what looked like a giant drowned spider on a string #floweringteamyass

I used to make something similar to this as a kid out of construction paper. You cut flower shapes folding in the pedals and write secret notes in the middle, and when you put them on top of water they bloom with your message

Really bad idea. Imagine these cartons in stores, all altered with varying sizes of this "warning" colour. It is a spoilage indicator, and even 10% of it on a carton is enough to make customers cringe and walk away from it.

Not sure if this is the carton, but Tetra Pak is working on a carton that lets you know when the milk has been sitting out too long and needs to be put back into the fridge. I suspect this image is that prototype. It's not so difficult to tell when your milk has gone bad that you need a carton that tells you.

Good idéa - but I´m not buying it. The Best before date on dairy is flexible. If the carton is not opened yet before last day, the product can for sure go 5 days over b.d. Result = Food waste ..... I´m afraid.

For me it's a good idea. First of all, he warns you how close is the milk you are buying. If you're running, sometimes you do not look at the expiration date, and you find yourself with an old milk that you can not use. Even if you change it, you still lose a lot of time. Then, when you have it in the fridge, see if you are going to pour a rennet of acidic rennet or milk. I made the mistake of drinking, from the bottle, of the milk I did not know had expired, and I did not wish it to anyone.

I would hope this is straw rather than hay. Hay is feed and more expensive than straw, which is generally used for stuff like bedding. Honestly, though, it does look more like hay which is just a waste for anybody who isn't going to feed it to some critters once the eggs are used. Cardboard cartons are just as compostable/recyclable.

I am in southern Indiana, and straw here is always more expensive than hay. The only hay that is more, is the alfalfa that is certified "weed free".

It does not grow on trees actually... Making it into cardbox takes much more energy and therefore has a much higher carbon footprint. (By the same token a plastic shopping bag is much more sustainable than a paper shopping bag, believe it or not)

Official info to answer the how/what questions! This honey packaging design concept from Maude Paquette-Boulva is smart, serves a dual purpose and is eco-friendly. For starters, the honey is packaged inside a container made out of beeswax and topped with a wooden lid. Once the honey has been used up, the container can be turned onto its head and used as a candle. In this state, the candle wick can be found on what used to be the bottom of the container and the wooden lid can now be used as a base for the beeswax candle. To make both uses of the objects clear, the beeswax is printed with a bold graphic that shows that you can flip the container over to make it even more useful after the honey on the inside is all gone

I think the picture is entirely computer generated, and texturing slightly warped discs was the closest they could get to real looking chips without modeling them from scratch

I'm guessing it's a gourmet packaging product, not a commercial one and it's made of cardboard/paper which is recyclable. Also, you can see that there are three different flavors of cookies, I agree that it's for them not to break, plus, this product is experience selling based, not entirely product selling based.

if you read the label, the orange-red one is "chili parmesan", I'm guessing the pesto one is a green "lead". Dunno about the paper, but there were lollies wrapped in edible paper decades ago, so it could be edible, or you might peel it off, or push the contents down the paper tube from the other end...all sorts of possibilities.

If people aren't smart enough to transport a box of cookies without destroying them unless they're wrapped in plastic layers and sleeved up like Fort Knox then they don't deserve cookies. By the shape of the box, I suspect there is a separate compartment for the phone so it doesn't come in contact with the greasy bits where the pizza is. Still, it seems a little silly since it probably doesn't produce good resolution and most people have a TV to watch stuff on. Impractical but kitschy and will likely appeal to B movie culture fans.

I like that the wrapper keeps the used bag from making a mess when you set it aside. Practical and cute and since it's compressed paper, you can also toss it in the compost pile. The absorbed tea is good for plants, too, so will be even better for the compost pile. I like to put my spent tea bags right in the garden or in a potted plant.

okay, farm girl here and I'mma give you guys some education. On most USA farms, the animals are treated fairly. The animals are bred for either breeding or food. Its how a farm works. Can be used for breeding? cool. Cant? Food. Now with Chickens, the smaller the space the better they lay the eggs. they feel protected. They need to eat grain and grass, and most of them get that. Now I'm not saying ALL get that. Some farmers are a******s and Ive run into a few myself. We report those morons to the government. Now local farms are the best way to go. Support your local community and give back, also knowing where your food came from. Find your nearest farm and see what they sell.

not necessarily. the napkin you can keep, wash and use later (it looks like it's made of some sort of silky cloth), and the kind of paper they use, you can just throw on the compost, it's environment-friendly and 100% biodegradable, so all the packaging that's actually wasted is the outer paper band, and honestly, that's not much...

In the UK we used to have a jewellery retailer that had been around for decades called Ratners, that was until the CEO of the company actually called his stock s**t in front of the media who were recording.
