We have these in Denmark. It's a little tiny dot of some special glue, which took them a long time and effort to develop. It holds the six cans tightly together and you have to twist it in a certain way to separate. After the glue doesn't stick to anything anymore. It saves 150 tons of plastic a year in Denmark alone. Also we have a system where you get paid for returning empty bottles and cans. A lot of homeless people make a living collecting them, and also they don't end up polluting nature.

Just, keep them in Cali. If they are not native species, they may overgrow your local native species.

When paper is very dirty, like sometimes of food, when wrapped things, it cannot be recicled and it must be thrown in the waste container, not in the paper one.

This is great for things like remote controls. Instead of throwing the batteries away, recharge them. One less thing in the land fills

Why not just use metal ones and reuse. Single use is just wasteful however environmentally friendly

Some places you can't do this in because the shop/restaurant would be liable if anything bad happens. Sucks but it's true. They are forced to throw the food away.

Grey water reuse is awesome, although this would be ergonomically a bit awkward to use. I've seen these at urinals as well where it would work much better.

What if I told you that you can buy a the lid online and install it on your toilet(s). The same goes for the bide.

This is a typical Japanese toilet; many people have them in their homes. Japanese never have a bathtub or shower in the same room as the toilet; to them, that custom is filthy and barbaric. So these water-recycling sinks save space in the little toilet room. I went to Japan in the early '90s with a few friends; we stayed at the home of a lady in Tokyo. She had one of these toilet /sink combinations. She also had a toilet paper holder that played a Beethoven melody when you pulled on the tissue! :-)

We have these at my Doctors bathroom In Mill Park in Australia.... One day an older lady asked me if I washed my hands in the toilet, I said no, only wash my hands in the basin on top of the toilet, she thinks the water comes up from the bowl to the tap in the basin, that's why she refuses to use it... God Bless Her..

This should be installed in public restrooms.

My friends Mum has her water outlet pipe for the washing machine, hooked up to empty into the cistern. Obviously, it only really works if you do a lot of washing (she does) but not so helpful if you're living alone and only do one wash a week. Always thought it was a good idea though

OMG I had this idea about 30 years ago, knew I should have patented it!

The cistern would still need to fill from a mains supply because washing your hands wouldn't come close to proving enough water for a flush

In my home we do something similar, we wash our hands in a bucket using the water coming out of the shower head (not the fixed type head so popular in the US, the movable one) and flush the toilet with that. Same with the water from the washing machine.

Is anyone else bother by the electrical outlet by the toilet bowl. Zap!

I have this type at my home. I just use it after using the toilet to wash my hands. Ergonomically it is perfect.

I have wanted one of these since I went to japan in 2003. They are sooooo expensive to get in the US. Why aren't they installed everywhere?!

That would be hard to reach. Why not move the sink a bit aside and have a hose or a syphon to drain the water inside the toilet tank?

The paper ones are actually quite eco-friendly too (not the plastic ones) because it's a way to reuse even a couple of times recycled paper that has little to no other uses. :)
