The Photographer's name is Kawika Singson, the shot is really taken on a lava flow, but he did jump start the flames with lighter fluid.

I read in an interview that this was staged. He thought it would make a good picture. But he wasn't really standing there the whole time.

Naw... dark lava is not hot enough to do this. While it's definitely will melt your soles and cook your feet in 2-3 minutes, but ignite your shoes without jumping you mad ... meh ...
