30 Fun-Filled Comics That Will Teach You A Thing Or Two About The Cosmos, By This Artist
Interview With ArtistIf you’re interested in all things space yet feel that all the information is just too difficult to grasp, well, then we have a fun treat for you!
Jarrod Chua, the creator behind Spaceytales, covers various topics about the universe, planets, and everything else in between, all presented in the form of easy-to-read and fun comics. As Jarrod himself described his work: “Spaceytales cartoons are centered around themes of discovery and exploration, not just of outer space but also of new ideas and learning through fun. To someone who’s never seen my work, I’d describe it as a mix of humor and relatability, wrapped around educational content. Each comic or cartoon strip is designed to spark interest in science and astronomy, catering to both kids and adults.”
So, let’s hop into the post and learn a thing or two about our universe!

I think their scanning sucks. They scanned the oceans and there is certainly intelligent life there, whale, shark, seal and octopus.
From their comment you would think they only scanned The White House
In an interview with Bored Panda, Jarrod told us more about himself: “I majored in digital communication in university and self-taught graphic design to create Spaceytales. My academic path was always geared towards creative pursuits. From eagerly anticipating art classes and doodling during breaks in primary school to engaging in design and technology classes in secondary school, my passion for creativity has been a constant in my life.”
Did you know? WiFi was based on the ‘frequency hopping’ idea (a method of blocking radio signals) from genius inventor and Hollywood Superstar Hedy Lamarr.
I read that and it is one of my treasured facts when talking to the kind of guy who think women doesn't understand anything technic. You know the guy that offers to help you send an e-mail even if you have been doing so for years.

The artist also shared what drew him to the world of cartooning.
“I’ve been doodling since I was young, starting on walls, which led my mom to buy me a whiteboard to channel my creativity. My love for constructing stories and scenes extended to playing with Legos. During my national service in Singapore, my army unit imposed a stay-home restriction order due to the COVID-19 pandemic, giving me a lot of time at home. This period allowed me to explore various creative outlets, like cooking and baking, but I was drawn back to drawing and graphic design. I tried creating different themed art pages on Instagram, including a logo redesigning page and an inspirational movie poster page, but they didn’t gain much traction. Realizing there was a gap in entertaining and engaging space-related content, I started Spaceytales during this period, combining my passion for space with my skills in graphic design,” Jarrod shared.
Thanks for this. I have wondered if there were more than the two names I have heard from the ISS.
Oh so that’s what Vyom means. I always thought it was a bit of a strange thing to name your kids but now I got the context
orange suits because of the for curry ? .... not bright, now i want a butter ckicken
Regarding the creative process, Jarrod shared his recipe for success: “Curiosity is where my creative process starts. I find inspiration in scientific facts, everyday occurrences, or questions posed by the Spaceytales community. These ideas are then brainstormed into engaging stories or humorous vignettes. The actual creation involves digital illustration, where the characters and their stories come to life, maintaining a balance between being light-hearted and informative, ensuring each piece offers a laugh and a learning moment.”
That's because in no more than 5 billion years, the Earth will become uninhabitable - possibly sooner due to overpopulation and dwindling resources - so we need to find somewhere else to live.
And saying “we’ll just inhabit mars” like ungrateful crudnuggets

Well the Nitrogen to oxygen ratios have varied even in the period that there has been multicellular life on Earth between 35% and 15%. Life first evolved in an Earth with barely any oxygen at all in the atmosphere. So exactly 21% oxygen is not needed to sustain complex, multicellular life on Earth. The ratio of 21% Oxygen and 78% Nitrogen is very much NOT "just the right mixture". It is "one of the possible mixtures".
Jarrod also delved into what he wished for audiences to take away from his content.
“I hope my audience leaves with a smile and perhaps a bit more knowledge than they had before encountering my comics. Whether it’s a fun fact about the planets or a light-hearted look at complex scientific concepts, my goal is to make learning about space enjoyable and memorable. I want readers to feel more connected to the universe around them and empowered by the knowledge they gain,” wrote Jarrod.
And lastly, the artist added: “Aside from the comics, Spaceytales also offers a range of planet plushies and soon-to-be-launched merchandise, like keychains and shirts, designed to extend the learning experience beyond the screen. Each plushie comes with a tag that delves deeper about the planet, making them perfect companions for both educational and imaginative play.”
Let us know what you think about Jarrod’s space-themed comics, and after you do, we highly recommend checking out the adorable plushies!
Fine description of the different objects/threats in our neighborhood. When a meteor ends up on the surface of earth it is called a meteorite.
A planet must have a clear orbit. There are a bunch of other Kuiper Belt objects (asteroids and planetoids) orbiting in the same general area.

The lack of plate tectonics has a lot to do with keeping the planet's core liquid. The liquid core (specifically the iron and sulfur) create the magnetic field. Mars has no plate tectonics.
Load More Replies...Magnetic field strength is measured in Tesla. If someone sends enough cars of the right brand to Mars, would this restore its magnetic field?
As a scientist, however, I have to point out that this theory includes the well known fallacy "If we don't know about it, then it isn't real, or does not exist." Like you know, bacteria? Can't see 'em, so, there's no such thing as germs! We do it over and over.
As someone once said, either we are the only planet with life on it, or we're not. Either way it's a mind-blowing thought.
WIth 100 billion stars in our galaxy alone, even with one on ten million stars having a rocky planet in the goldilocks zone, there would be 10,000 potential places for life in our Galaxy. There are around 2,000,000,000,000 galaxies in the universe. With those sort of numbers "rare" is a meaningless term.
So many billions of stars, most of them with planets... We are FAR from unique.
This is incredibly outdated as we have found many planets like earth and at least 25 "super earths" which are planets that are actually more hospitable to life than earth is... And we have nothing unique as far as resources and such go
This must be from some years ago. I am sure I have heard that we have found planets in Goldilocks Zones around other stars in recent years.
Titan has surface liquid (methane). It's the only other world in our solar system (that we know of) that does.
There may actually be a chance that life based on silicon instead of carbon could evolve there

The only issue there is that the pictures figure nude humans. It is likely that aliens will not tolerate us sending porn in space and will decide to eradicate this filth.
And the scientists who sent it immediately regretted it as this was a horrible idea
That's around 450°C, so it would burn it quite quickly, for sure, but I'm not sure that 'vaporise' is quite the right term. Some commercial pizza ovens can go as high as 500°C
Load More Replies...Afrodite (Greek mythology), is the first and real name of the goddess of love and beauty. Venus is the Roman name of Afrodite. As Aris-Mars. All planets have names of the ancient Greek mythology.
The names are, with exception of Uranus, from Roman mythology. And while being very similar to Greek mythology, the Roman one is not an exact copy
Load More Replies...Actually it’s the H2S that gives the bad smell. Methane on its own doesn’t smell that bad
Good! I'd hate to think that Uranus smells like farts. 😜
Load More Replies...The Earth’s axis is only inclined at around 23 1/2 °. Uranus’ axis is inclined at nearly 90°
Load More Replies...Well.. The geeks writing the press releases THINK it would smell like farts- but nobody has been there to check that out...
We’ve sent Voyager and it’s helped in confirming a couple things. Also based on the wavelengths of light and spectroscopy we’ve been able to guess a lot about the composition of the atmosphere.

It's thought that there is a supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy, and therefore implies that this may be true for most or all other galaxies. One effect of this is the clustering of matter which is part of the formation of new stars.
I had a thought, gravitational forces in great amounts warps space/time what if the Hubble constant is due to this fact, because we have such a massive gravitational force at the center of our galaxy that we are under time dialation due to it but outside the galaxy the universe moves at the constant speed where we're slowed down.

wouldn't they, themselves be the Great Filter then?
Load More Replies...No, no! Scenario 4!! By far the most likely! The other civilizations of the Galaxy are well aware of us, and we are under quarantine - so our current infectious idiocies do not spread! They won't talk to us until we grow up.
I agree. Someone once said that the proof there's intelligent life is that none of it has come here.

Just like poor Venus. Mars lost its oceans just before life started evolving here. I think it was because the core of Mars got a bit too cold so the magnetic field became too weak so the solar wind stripped away the atmosphere and the oceans this way
Load More Replies...The aliens, of course, use modulated micro-gravity waves to communicate- which we can't detect at all...
aren't they using quantum entanglement to avoid snooping without warrant by their governmental agencies?

Namaste! In Spanish they also have a day named for Mars, "Martes". Thank you for sharing that, I love learning what other folks have named the days of the week after. 😁😁😁

Fun Fact: In Greek/roman mythology, Phobos and Deimos are the sons of Mars.
And are they not named 'Fear' and 'Terror'? Suitable names.

Load More Replies...Maybe. However the fact that St. Elon decided to take over Twitter- and not spend that $44 billion on , well- anything at all- is a bit discouraging.
We need to get off the planet at some point. If we don't start now, when?
Load More Replies...Uhhh thid was all cute little planets and such and then this. What a dramatic shift in tone.
Nonsense. Launching a missile 80km up in the sky does nothing to further space exploration. In fact, I'd go as far as saying putting humans up in space is (currently) a waste of resources. If you're serious about exploration you send probes and robots, that can travel much farther than any human and at a fraction of the cost.
We as human beings can use robots and probes to further our understanding but to the same degree as someone with a disability of some sort. Someone who was deaf from birth doesn't make a good audio engineer. The human experience tells us so much more about the world then our current level of technology and i wonder how many mysterious would be solved so much faster with actual humans on world. Also shame on you, our planet is on borrowed time, when our sun goes off we spent all this time focused on earth it wouldn't matter unless we could move the planet some how but at some point the resources are finite without traveling the stars.
Load More Replies...Honestly it's a good take on billionares in space. Sure they are doing it to turn a future profit but proving it can be done is what drives the human condition. Look at everything we were told no in the past and now look what we have achieved.
We have an abundance of intelligent species on Earth- and we have been consistently handicapped by expecting them to speak 'human" in some form, and pronouncing them 'non-intelligent' when they don't. Hm.
Any ET civilisation that would be aware of us would need to have understood the electro-magnetic spectrum, and mathematics, including binary and prime numbers. We'd have maths and science in common. Other Earth species don't need to have that knowledge to exist, which only requires living long enough to reproduce in sufficient quantity.
Load More Replies...Ok, but. Full disclosure, please. Also by a rapidly increasing number of satellites for commercial communication- and secret military information satellites- which may already be weaponized, for destroying other satellites. I'm not opposed to "happy news" - but I am opposed to "carefully managed incomplete news."
