As you probably know, all people are divided into two categories - those who love cats, and those who prefer dogs. We agree that cute cats are what the internet has been based on since the beginning of the world, but doggos are still our one true love. In general, people have always glorified dogs with great pleasure.
For example, like the creators of this popular Twitter page called Cool Dog Facts, who really collect interesting and thought-provoking facts about dogs' lives and their friends, accompanying them with cool pictures.
The motto of the blog, which has garnered almost 150K followers in around ten years of existence, is "Wag More. Bark Less". We do believe this motto perfectly captures the true nature of wonderful doggos.

I was once told "If your dog doesn't like someone, you shouldn't either."
Here's the secret: The reason your dog doesn't like them is usually that you don't either. Your dog is following your signs. We have reasons to be suspicious, reasons to be wary, reasons to be careful, but we ignore all those signs because we can't explicate them or it'd be 'rude not to give them a chance' or we convince ourselves that we're being cranky or whatever. Our dogs don't have those social niceties on top. They see that a member of their pack (i.e., us) has weird body language towards that person (just a little stiff or a little jumpy), they see we're staying just one half step further away, or that our shoulders are tight, or our arms are crossed, or whatever and they think "Ooh, pack is wary and potentially in danger! I too shall be wary and be ready to protect the pack."

I know where you’re coming from. My son is disabled and dogs scare him because of stupid owners who think everyone should like their dog even when it knocks them over. Now he’s an adult he’s less in danger but he still scared and he hates being barked at. I was bitten on the face by a puppy when I was a child but it was a matter of unruliness rather than viciousness. I like dogs which are properly trained and I like dog owners who take care of their dogs.
Load More Replies...Dogs don’t lie. They might try to trick you occasionally, but they don’t tell lies
I knew a girl who got bitten on the face by a dog when she was a young child. For her, not liking dogs was ok in my book. Everyone else,,, distrust!
I agree. My little dog tried to bite someone and turns out woman stole all kinds of stuff from my apt. Lied that she had a driver's license drove my car ran out of gas the lost only key fob I had to my car. Stole from neighbors who let her in their homes. Nothing valuable but got a thrill from stealing
This is complete b******t. Dogs are just like people. They can be frightened by someone for reasons that you don't understand. I'm a dog person and almost every dog I have ever met is drawn to me. I say almost because it does happen occasionally where a dog is afraid or doesn't like me. That does not make me a bad or untrustworthy person.
I agree I have one dog who is terrified of my husbands grandpa. He is an amazing man and an animal lover. Every other rescue or foster we had has adored him, except this one rescue. It breaks his heart too, poor guy..he just reminds her of someone else I guess.
Load More Replies...Unfortunately everytime I see this dog breed, my mind goes to the mean dobermans in oliver and company-not scared of them in the slightest, just have a weird association between the dog and the movie
just go to rule 34 and type in Doberman, you won't be associating them with that movie anymore

How you treat animals and how you treat staff. Always be nice to janitors, cleaning and cantine workers, cashiers...
"The true character of a man is how he treats those who can do nothing for him"
Load More Replies...That, also. Of all the helpless you'll ever meet, the nonhuman animals also are voiceless and disregarding them ignorantly is not even seen as not normal, but NOT doing so is normal, and weirdos are who care about them more than what doesn't cause any inconvenience. Shame on us. No human ever was as voiceless, unheard, uncared for as animals in industrial abuse are, even in the furthest developed countries. Taking the side of those who can't help themselves, over the side of those making them need someone to help, never is wrong, always is right, and almost always, at least a bit of that is possible without any hassle. But yet, even if it costs nothing, done is, also, nothing.
So true. One time I went to my friend's house before we were really good friends, and her animals positively lovemauled me. It was so awesome, like a cat and doggo floof party, and I could tell that my reaction was all she needed to know in order for us to become partners in crime
Most people really like their dogs more than most people. In the end, who else is able to love their owner like Hachiko, be as selfless as Balto - and people always reciprocate to their devoted friends.
After all, the friendship of people and dogs is one of the main themes in world culture. Dorothy and Toto, Wallace and Gromit, Cruella de Ville... well, not exactly a good example, let's remember Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo, then.
There was a time where I adopted dogs that needed hospice care. There are people that cannot afford treatments and leave them at shelters because they think they have a better chance. There are charities that can help with this , don't let your dog pass away without his person.
Our last Golden, Mollie had some kind of weird syndrome. She couldn't stand, walk or even hold her head up. She was at the Vet for 2 days and he was at a loss. He finally did an exploratory abdominal and called during it, said he'd never seen anything like it, every organ was bright red. We told him to let her stay asleep. To this day I wish we had gone just to hold her one last time. Have to stop now, hard to see with the tears. She left us 3 years ago.
My Shilo is 8 next month and my love for him in infinite and grows more so every day. He is always there for me and looks after me in his own way. He fills my life with love and laughter and I am always grateful for all that he is. Their love for us gets stronger, but so does our love for them.

If my house burned to the ground, as long as I had my dogs I would still be okay.
Give me my 4-legged family any day over most of my human family!
This dog looks like my boy Spike. He's been gone for 20 years, but I think of him every day. He was so very brave, but he was silly, caring and loving. His outside was as ugly as his inside was beautiful. I hope the rainbow bridge is real.I'd give anything to give him one last hug.
Dogs do occupy a special place in our lives - because they, unlike people, are not capable of betrayal. As one wise man used to say, "The more I get to know men, the more I love dogs."
Cynologists believe that a dog always chooses a person for itself as the leader of its own pack. The wolf past still shows up, even if your dog is neither the size nor the appearance of a wolf.
It's funny how I know all the dogs names we meet on our walks but have no idea what their person's name is.
There's a golden near me that I know (Paisley) and her human (Paisley's Mom)...

Well yeah, my dog is amazing and can do no wrong. People on the other hand..
While this is a lucky kid, this is also NOT OK. Even the most perfect dog can get tired, overstimulated and react. Dogs, like humans, aren't machines. They can have bad days. Teach your children not to get in their face. Also it's not all about how you raise them. Genetics play a huge role in behavior.
This is mostly true. But it’s not nature OR nurture, it’s both. Sometimes nature can win out despite your best efforts. I work with animals professionally, and have met quite a few dogs that were raised right but still have issues.
Uh ... this point actually has a lot of aspects in it that need to be adressed in some way ... and, to be clear right away - none of any of it is genuinely the dogs' fault. While raising and training and education are major influences on behaviour, so are genetics. Selective breeding provides an advantage for whatever the breeder is after in the kind of dog that is to be bred ... a race that is bred to engage in (thankfully, illegal in many places) dog fights will not be bred to be nice around children, but to react aggressively, to not wait, to not be patient. You can train out a lot of this, and while any kind of broadly administered euthanasia is wronger than wrong, that doesn't mean every race should be bred forever. Treating those well, care for them, who already exist, I'd never put in any queston, but ... although it often is unpopular, this no less bears a truth that isn't ignorable. And, NO, I do NOT say that race or genetics are everything (usually, that is the strawman someone engages in disproving - please, don't do this here this time...).
Not necessarily true, unfortunately. They are still animals. Unpredictable and they react on instinct. We love our fur babies. They're family. But they'll always be animals and we cannot change that.

Remember Robinson Crusoe - when he got to a desert island, long before he met his only human friend, Friday, he regretted more than once that at least one dog was not with him at the moment.
Aaaw look at those ears! Trouble detecting radar dishes ready for service!
A close friend was one of the first people in California to take advantage of its compassionate death by euthanasia law. Her last words were, "Isn't amazing how everybody gets the perfect dog for them?"
My wallet is full, my house... eh... but... Can't say the same about my girlfriend! LOL!
Yup! My house is swept and vacuumed at least every two days, if not everyday because tumbleweeds of fur are a frequent occurrence, I literally just spent 100 dollars at a pet store to feed and make her happy for another week, and I wouldn't be going outside regardless of the weather just to make sure she gets exercise. But I also wouldn't be here without her. She's saved my life and I'll never be able to make her understand just what she's done for me. She never let's me have a bad day anymore, and I never feel lonely.
I think about this quote every time I dish out money for her expensive food but when she's not hear, I miss her claws tapping the floor when she's walking around I tear up thinking of when she travels over the rainbow. I don't think my heart will ever heal when it's that time.
I vacuumed my upstairs after emptying out the dirt cup... it was completely full by the time I was done. Still wouldn't trade my furry babies for anything <3
I'm not religious but I the one part of me that hopes I'm wrong is the part that would be over the moon to see all of the pets I have lost throughout my life.
Tessie, Cleo, Scrotty Mr Dog, Poppy, Henry, Prince, Max, Badgerlina, King Louie, Mr Smelly, Morse, Hilda, Susie, Twiglet, Buster, Billy Blob, Jester, Bruno, Bob, Moss, Tizzy; see you there.
Here me out, the rainbow bridge is super depressing. Your pet can't cross to heaven until you die so they just wait for you. They can't spend time with other friends or family members or neighbors or whoever else involved in their life until you can take them across. What if you pass before them? What does that mean for them? Also, two of my past fluffy kiddos were terrified of other animals. I would hate for them to be stuck without people.

Load More Replies...According to the legends of many nations, all dogs definitely go to heaven after their death, and then, when time comes for their owner to pass away, the dog leads a person across the rainbow bridge leading to paradise, easing the burden of his sins.

For your information; in Aztec mythology when you die there are 9 levels of underworld; the 1st level is the Dogs level, which is full of dogs including the dogs you had throughout your life; you are supposed to move on up to the last level, but let's be honest, we would stay there.
We had a white Staffordshire bull terrier Dalmatian mix that was white with brown ears. Mum used to kiss him before going out on her gigs. Fizzy would run down the stairs covered in kisses.
I like to run my fingers down my cats' fur and use them like a zen garden.
Right? I'm searching online for those mini rakes so i can make it authentic

Dog doesn't look too happy about it, though. Maybe he didn't like being painted on?
My dog use to react like an embarrassed teenager if I loved on him to much out in public.
Yes if only evil/annoying/Karen people died and left the good people all alone…. With doggos of course
Load More Replies...Just too gorgeous! I’m a complete German Shepherd fan if you couldn’t tell. That looks so much like my previous puppy, “Hector the trouble detector”.
But do humans WANT to live up to a doggo. ( hypothetically. I know we can’t.)
BUT we breeded them to be this way - probably to get what we missed out in life?
Indeed, a dog does not care whether you are a successful person or not, how much money you earn or what kind of car you've got. It will stay with you in joy and sorrow, and will do its best to make you feel good, because you are its best friend.
And so does yours. Never understood that until I had my first rescue.
My Shilo is a rescue. I think he rescued me more than I rescued him.
Problem is, my significant people don't jump, crawl or sneak into my Arms like my poodle does nor demand they for prelonged cuddling like my shibe does, not my fault!
Anyone who would break a relationship over that shouldn’t have any relationships

Also, if you're prepared for and committed to getting a dog, please adopt from a shelter. If you're going to be gone 10 hours a day for work, get a cat.
Average commute in the US is almost 30 minutes. That means 1hr commuting each day. 8 hours of work, 1 hour of lunch, 1 hour of commute = the average American shouldn't own a dog in your opinion. An interesting take, to be sure.
Load More Replies...If someone thinks about "getting" a dog, i tell them to not do it. Always. Some of them come around to thinking about adopting a dog. The rest is better off without a dog, anyway.
We have a problem here with people dropping their "Covid pets" off at shelters. Some are over capacity. They all rushed out to get a pet when covid started and now that it is easing they don't want them anymore. I'm sure a few have legitimate reasons but the majority are just bastards as far as I'm concerned.
I'm crying at this picture. I can't imagine leaving my friend alone, afraid and confused. 😪
If you cannot offer sufficient exercise for a young dog, an older dog might fit your life. A competent shelter or rescue organization will help find an appropriate friend. And the rewards of helping an older dog are priceless.
PLEASE, PLEASE. Do your research. Husky, German Shepherds, any type of Shepherd, etc are WORKING DOGS. And yes, they are cute as hell as puppies but they need approx. 2-3 hours of exercise a day. Don't adopt with her heart, adopt with your brain. I have a shepherd mix. We walk about 2 to 2-1/2 hours during the week because I work (from home) and about 3-4 hours during the weekend because we go hiking. It helps to keep her calm at home and not eat my sofa.
A destructive dog typically does not receive enough mental stimulation.
Load More Replies...Please, please make sure you have a long term budget for the total care of your pet. From food to vet care to emergencies. If you can't realistically afford one maybe think about being a dog walker, day care person, and so on.
If your planning to move make sure you can take your pets. I can not understand anyone that does not take their pets. I've known a few former friends that moved "I can't take my dog." Then, a few months later, "Look at my new pup." I have no respect for them.

Current puppy is 13 kg at 12 weeks old. Judging by the paws that is going to be a momentary measurement. He’s a German Shepherd x Golden Retriever. He’s completely gorgeous, a toothy land shark and the owner of the craziest ears ever! I’m posting daily pupdates on his ears. Yesterday they were mostly pointing left, today they’re crossed in the middle. Who knows what tomorrow will bring!
Omg I love that mix! Like I’m not even joking I used to google them and just stare 😂

I knew it was silly, but I felt guilty "replacing" my dog. I got a rescue and it felt like honoring my dog- not replacing her.
Well done, CDL! You honoring your beloved doggo as well as giving Love and a home to a worthy companion. He/she will reward you a thousandfold@

That strikes me as more than a little cowardly. I’d want to be there at the end, so my dogs can be with me as they draw their last breath, comforted knowing I didn’t leave them.

Our little rescue girl smiles. It’s so lovely, her dad comes home and she’s up on the sofa smiling at him. She also grins when she’s asleep. She’s too gorgeous!

Mine talks back to me too much, but I'd rather hang out with her all day than most people I know.
Pup is lucky he has not ended up with his butt looking like a pincushion.
Not to worry kitty, as soon as doggy's knee is all better and fur grows back, s/he will get up.
German proverb: "Daß mir der Hund das Liebste sei, sagst du, o Mensch, sei Sünde? Der Hund blieb mir im Sturme treu, der Mensch nicht mal im Winde." (translates mostl to "Men say it's a sin I prefer dogs over their kin, but dog stayed at my side in a storm while men left me during the breeze.")
When my 1st son got sick and became paralyzed I realized I had only 5 friends. When my 2nd child died I found I had only one, my dog. 💙
I may not be able to do a damn thing without her following me everywhere, but I'm also not lonely. Whenever I've needed someone, she's right there.
I sometimes think of that cat in Marlon Brando's lap in the movie Godfather. It always occurs to me that the cat has absolutely no clue that he's in the lap of one of the most accomplished actors in the world and in one of the biggest blockbuster movies of all time. And then it occurs to me that he wouldn't care in the least if he did know. All he wants is his lovin' and his skritches.
Trivia: That cat was a studio stray who invited himself to be part of the movie. And his purr was so loud, the actors had to rerecord the dialogue post filming.

Step 2: be owned by a nice person. Sadly not all dogs have a nice home. 😔
My Luna is a rescue. She has nightmares every night. So I talk to her and even though she's still sleeping she stops crying. She's a good girl.

Actually, that's an interesting question: Do dogs differentiate by fur colour or breed? There are studies showing that horses prefer the same coat colour and generally rather stay among horses of the same height. Are dogs the same?
My rescued Great Pyrenees, who looked much like the dog in this photo, always showed extra interest in little white dogs, enough that the doggy day care staff mentioned it to us. We don't know what her history was, but I always wonder if she'd had puppies.

My Aussie shepherd/blue heeler mix was old, but still loved to play soccer. She was the best dog I think I've ever had. I miss her.

Was told to put my dog in the bathroom when I left for school. Came home to a hole in the bathroom door. Water pipe to toilet chewer in half and spewing water everywhere. Three rolls of chewed up toilet paper. Torn to shreds shower curtain and gnawed up cabinet corners. It's was the first and last time I was asked to do that.
The best part of my day is coming home and seeing my dog's feet dancing with excitement under the curtain. All that for me. That's love.
Rescue dogs are amazing. I had two rescue pitties. One has sadly passed but the other is still with us.

See! This is why I keep saying that crimes against dogs should be like crimes against people! Someone steals your dog, they should be punished for kidnapping - not "property theft." It should be the equivalent of murder when police come onto your property without warning and shoot your dog because you weren't given the opportunity to safely restrain it. It should be treated like child abuse when you beat a your dog or drop it in the middle of nowhere. My dogs are the sweetest beings I could ever hope to know... they're my babies... and if something were ever to happen to them, my whole world would be crushed. Why shouldn't people be punished to the degree of the heartbreak they cause? Seriously.
I love my cat dearly, but after I lost my Lucy Loo, I just couldn't get another dog. Seeing this, I realize how much I'd love one again, but where I'm moving I can't because it's a sheep farm and it's working dogs only. No, I can be friends with them. They're there to "work". But I love my kitty like crazy.
