The street artist Dran, born in Toulouse in 1979, is frequently called The French Banksy. These two artists share a critical view of society, power figures and are not afraid to expose their beliefs publicly.

"My father wanted me to work with him in construction, but since my arms are too thin to hold a hammer, I dedicated myself to the drawing," said the artist.

Dran mainly creates paintings, drawings and graffiti art all over France. With his art, he addresses important current issues such as the powers of the authority, sexual harassment, internet addiction, exaggerated media and many more.

Take a look at some of his incredible works and vote for the most powerful ones.

Is a bit ironic...we use paper (from downed trees) to pass out “save our forests” flyers!!!

Trees used for paper is much less than trees that are cut down to make room for growing food for lifestock. One year without beef saves 3432 trees, not using paper saves 8,5.

Don't forget that you can get recycled paper! So you can be environmentally friendly and still use paper! But I see what the artist is saying.

Forests and zoos are being polluted, thus zoos are saving a lot of animals from extinction. But again, zoos should make them feel safe and at home, not feel imprisoned, isolated and sad. I agree, they deserve to be out in the wild. But extinction and all that. If environmental pollution could be reduced, and if zoos could be more better for the animals, then the animals could be happier.

Maybe the Chimp is analyzing the human animal because it is in denial of it's circumstances. What is a cage? Something you cannot escape from(perimeters) etc. Earth is the Cage.

I see a kid who don't bother to pass a half of the banana to the monkey as what typically done from the visitors of the zoo. Is he is trying to tease him intentionally? The monkey is triple oppressed, don't you agree? He is in a very small prison that don't fit his natural capacity. The tree is cut, the ultimate entertainment for him. His drawings are expressing family! And he is alone!?. I think he was born in this prison, and his parents are no longer with him somehow, maybe died. Becasue his drawings illustrate the prison bars before him! strange. Its like he never looked at his place from outside. It would be very selfish of you if you argued that this is for the environment and to avoid extinction of theses species. Well if its for his own good, why he look so depressed? He supposed to be happy. Open the door and see if he would stay or just get the hell our of there.

This was me as a young child. I got so lonely that I would, on pieces, of paper, draw a phone screen and a girl's face on it. I would also draw "e-mails" (I still confused e-mail and text at six or seven,) from this person. I named her Selena. I would take these pictures I drew around and pretend to e-mail Selena and Skype her. I would also 'talk" to her and tell her about my day. She, other than by brother, was my only friend. It was sweet but pretty sad. Anyways, this is really moving to me as I personally relate to it very much.

In the work I do it constantly saddens me that as people get older they are provided more and more medications - I know from my own parents they tend to accept aging and need for meds - rather than possibly trying to become active and fighting some of the signs off. That said - aging does bring on a whole wonderful world of issues - so it itsn't a one size fits all analysis. I do know a lot of people as they age accept their issues are all age related and they cannot do anything about it or it is understandably difficult to work at the alternatives. Being alone and sick or in pain - hard to motivate yourself to care - we need far more community supports

We have to remember sickness is business for drug companies. Some drugs people need, but many doctors go overboard, as they feel pressured to prescribe. It worries me to think that drug companies actually don't want a world of healthy people, they want to make money. When you realise this you stop trusting them.

I am eighty and last time they did $3600.00 worth of tests among which were for cocaine, heroin, opiates and opioids!!! I do not remotely resemble an addict of any kind, much less hard drugs. Money! Money! Money!!! I cut drugs in half and sometimes in quarters. Results are always the same.

I had a teacher who would shout at me "WALK WITH YOUR BACK STRAIGHT" every time I arrived at school, in front of everyone. I was a shy, skinny kid and we were forced to carry a bag full of books from and back to school almost everyday because every teacher had homework for us. One day I became so enraged, I screamed back at him: "DO YOU WANT TO HOLD MY BAG, SEE HOW MUCH IT WEIGHTS? MAYBE YOU CAN CARRY IT FOR ME!" Not only did I not get scolded, he did not bother me anymore. We had so much homework and zero free time after class, and all the weight they put on our backs… It's not healthy for the kids. This illustration is so accurate, sure brought back memories :)

I had the falling back too. Not on my back like a turtle, but I had kneeled and fell back. It was hard to get up! I was short and very skinny. And even though I was an athlete, it was still hard to get up. I like the old fashion book teaching. But the technology of these days, will help preventing these things from happening and will not give us back problems like the bag packs full of books.

The problem with this art is that it says that people aren't even allowed to THINK. It also depicts the idea that only men think like this. If that is the case, then why to thousands of women attend those Chippendale-like shows every year? Thoughts, even if wrong, are not harmful to others. It is when people take action based on those thoughts that the trouble begins. We need freedom of thought but control over our own actions.

It does. The difference is, most women keep their comments in their mind, and don't get angry when the man isn't flattered by their comments. They also don't assume the man is their RIGHT to have, as some men assume they have the right to touch/grab/molest/assault any woman they see. I don't see all men like that. There are PLENTY of good men who don't act that way.

This is not true in the slightest. There will never come a day where kids will not know what an animal looks like. Your statement is ignorant. What evidence have you that kids will not know what real animals will look like? Humans know now more than they ever have, and based on humans natural ability to learn this will only increase. Scientists today are preserving more species than ever and taking better care of them. I know that kids today dont go outside often and I think that should be changed but dont say that they wont know what animals will look like because that is a very uneducated and ignorant statement.

I was thinking that this was more about censorship! To the point where classics are being viewed as bad, not for what they say but for what someone might take away from reading/viewing. It's truly pathetic!

This is so true... usually when you have some creative capabilities, you'll be exploited by friends and/or colleagues. "Oh, you can draw, do this 5 minute artwork for us" and then it ends up taking you up to a week and then they're still not happy with what you've done. And you've actually done it as a favour, something that would've cost them a couple of bucks if they were paying customers.

No, but he died poor as a rat. His work was only recognized after his death. I guess the illustration's point is that, during his life, his work hardly served just to keep him going if anything? And how that's the case with many other misunderstood artists.

Not trying to be controversial but sometimes we need those little outs to be able to survive. Yes, it's important to know the state of our world, but you also need the little things to make you happy. If we constantly focus on the negative and the horrible things, depression will start kicking in. It's the sanity in the insane.

I agree that we need those little outs when life is a mess... But, at least in my country, Soccer, Telenovelas and other trashy tv shows are used to keep the masses absorbed, happy and controlled. To keep them ignorant.

I think the comment being made here is that it is to the point of ignoring reality outside your own window and ONLY focusing on a non-real image to replace the reality outside your window. That is quite a lot of commotion going on outside the window , that's denial not escapism.

Imagine if everything was bad and all we had was war, feminine, global crisis, environmental issues etc. It would take a lot to be happy. However, this makes sense and is very important that we address it with things like the prince getting married to a celebrity and so and so having a pimple on her forehead.

As a person who has been backstabbed by almost every f*****g person in my life I can relate. There is two ways you can read this. One is that even tho they are smiling and acting normal they have a history. Or two they are relating because they both have been hurt by many people. People who have been hurt attract people who have been hurt.

I mean, technologies aren't forcing us to use them all the time. Plus, there are people who use technology to communicate (through texts) as some of us are socially anxious.

if you watch porn, these is big chance you're watching some woman (or man) being forced to do it. So - technicly - you're part of mistreating other humans. Not ot mention fact that porn changes people's behaviour and "just watching" hard stuff usually end with hurting real people

Not everything can be cured with medication. If someone has a problem with porn it is likely to do with a deeper issue that needs to be addressed. For some it's a healthy expression of sexuality. Sexuality isn't wrong and people have differ ways of exploring it. Thinking real life should imitate porn isn't healthy, but most people know the difference between fantasy and reality.

I am a female and I think the comments about how porn is sick, disturbing and degrades woman are ridiculous. Do I believe that there are genres that are inappropriate and disgusting? Absolutely. But I also believe that mainstream pornography, although unrealistic, it's not necessarily unhealthy. I mean there is a problem with addiction, but it's the same with hundreds of other more harmful things. If you view (legal, "normal") porn in moderation in your own home I don't see anything wrong with that. I also believe that those saying that it degrades and objectifies woman are possibly looking at it from the wrong perspective. The majority of woman in the adult entertainment industry chose to be there, in the position of power with their own sexuality. They make a profit and living off of their beauty and "skills" but so do mainstream models and actresses. I don't see much difference. There is a tremendous difference between the prostitution/sex slave market and pornography.

Enough with the slams against the church! Any group that has humans will have corruption. Doesn't mean the church as a whole should be criticized and beaten for the crimes of others! It's just the same as hating all muslims for the terrorists. Who do you think takes care of the people society has condemned in non profit charities and groups? I don't know what drives people to make these insulting images- but they must be very hurt people searching for personal truths.

The fact the catholic church has multiple child molesters and protects them instead of the victims. The fact that the catholic church thinks that in the event of an endoscopic pregnancy the mother should just be left to die. The fact that the catholic church tried to stop a girl scout from abolishing a law saying children can be married off to an adult with the child's parents's consent because "it would mess with tradition". If we follow your train of thought to the end of the tracts, we reach the conclusion that all laws should be abolished and anyone can do whatever the f**k they want because we're all corrupt and therefore no one has the right to hold anyone to a standard of civilized behavior.

My first impression of the color and face expressions was a desparate mother trying to hand her precious baby to a good samaritan while her building was on fire. Then I took a second longer look and worked out she's trying to save her "money" from a stranger. And now I am confused because I merged both ideas, meaning money is more precious than children and that is why families are so poorly.

I don't think the point of this illustration is that he's "wasting" his job time on art, or that art is not needed..... but that there are so many talented people who cannot pay for proper education that can boost their talent, and their needs are so many that they have to just put their talent aside and "get a job to pay the rent".

Maybe this means the guy on the rleft has orders to build a sidewalk and he doesn't care what he's destroying, while the person on the right knows that destroying history and art in name of "progress" is just essentially destroying ourselves.

but the original Santa was a bishop named Nicholas who was known for being very kind and charitable. He's most famous for throwing gold coins through the windows into poor people's socks that where hung by the fire place to dry. When he died he became a saint. In many countries, santa claus is still called saint Nicholas. this is a very inacurate drawing that is as far from the truth as you can get.

In Croatia, Santa and St. Nicholas are two separate figures, with two separate holidays (although the st. Nicholas one is not a stay at home holiday) and on both days kids get presents.

Fun fact, that cheery fat man in the red suit that we all know and love was the result of a very successful marketing campaign run by Coca Cola in the 1930's. The real "Santa Claus" was Nikolaos, A Greek Bishop who used his inheritance to support the poor and was very generous to children. The beauty and charity of this man has been turned into a device of materialism where it is about spoiling ourselves with empty items while our brothers and sisters starve and freeze on the street. Jesus took care of the poor and the people his society condemned. This image couldn't be more skewed from the truth. Merry Christmas, everyone!

The cheery fat man with a bag of toys was first referred to in a poem the 1850s. Puck magazine depicted Santa in a red suit on a cover in 1902. White Rock Beverages used Santa in advertising campaigns from 1915, but in black and white. White Rock went to colour advertising in 1923 continuing Puck's red suit. So Desarae, your fun fact is a myth.

You’ve totally missed the point of this. It’s about respect. Just because someone is “serving” you doesn’t mean you can ignore them. If you don’t respect those in service industries, they have no reason to respect you.

I'm from NY and I can completely relate! I honestly HATE it here and feel like most New Yorkers do. But we constantly pretend we love it here and like it's the greatest place in the U.S.A.

Real question: have you looked into moving? There are a lot of places you could live for MUCH cheaper. Perhaps your job skills would be more valuable elsewhere? Just curious, not that it's any of my business.

I live in NY and it's not all that bad. The farther you are away from the city, the cheaper it is. The higher the cost of living the more you get paid. It's considered a great place because of all the stuff you can do here but once you get here you forget who you are and give up hope because you didn't achieve it our dreams.

about 20 years ago I worked as a street vendor of vegetables and fruits in Washing5ton, DC, USA. I found that most of the produce, especially tomatoes, that come into the cities are packed when they are still green and then sprayed with a chemical to turn them red so that they looked ripe, but they still weren't. I don't know if this still goes on, but I never heard they stopped it. Another reason to buy locally and can your own.
