I have thought this but I realised so many animals would be extinct if it wasn't for zoos. Sadly they are safer there than in the wild much of the time, even though they don't have life they should. We have to remember all the good conservation and educational work zoos have done too.

wild life will be gone by 2035 so all animals in the zoos is all that will be left.... we are at 7.5 BILLION right now and by 2035 we will be at 8.5 BILLION... which means no food, land or fresh water for wild animals so they will all be gone.. you have to see the bigger picture here

In the work I do it constantly saddens me that as people get older they are provided more and more medications - I know from my own parents they tend to accept aging and need for meds - rather than possibly trying to become active and fighting some of the signs off. That said - aging does bring on a whole wonderful world of issues - so it itsn't a one size fits all analysis. I do know a lot of people as they age accept their issues are all age related and they cannot do anything about it or it is understandably difficult to work at the alternatives. Being alone and sick or in pain - hard to motivate yourself to care - we need far more community supports

My middle school experience was similar. We even had one sociopathic English teacher grading us 400 points a semester on our three ring BINDERS. Unlike the 1 inch binders for other classes, she required a 2-inch binder. We had tons of books, binders, notebooks, etc, and only a couple minutes to swap them out between classes, and had to bring it ALL home for homework from every class. Our backpacks would fall apart, or just not be large enough (or both), the books would be damaged (and we'd get penalized for it) and that a*****e English teacher would demand we replace the damaged binders with new ones. She was the worst teacher I've ever had, but the whole 9th grade experience was like this (College Prep in middle school was worse than actual college). On top of all this, we had dictatorial principal/vice-principal jerks and no one was allowed in halls between classes or outside the building. It was like a daytime prison work camp.

At some point I started leaving books in my desk at school. No one was gonna steal them anyway. School made most hate education so much, they would burn the books in the end of each year. Yeah, very brutal

I see this with my niece. She is a small skinny little girl too with a bag as big as this. I picked up her bag to move it from the floor. It must have weighed a ton as I struggled to lift it. That made me so furious, I asked "why do your teachers want to damage your back. Surely you do not use all the books everyday so you can leave some at school and only take those you will need for home work." I took it up with her mother asking her to go and have a chat with the teachers about it. The poor girl walks quite a distance from and to school so the weight is really too much for her. But it seems like the teachers don't care. Makes me wonder if they would do the same to their own kids

Yes, I remeber when I was studying in Ireland for a year, the books were heavy as they were for 2 years. And for each class there were homeworks. In Slovakia we didn't have heavy books and not either homeworks for every class. Books were also tiny. Also we had school buses in Ireland but not in Slovakia. Here children use public transport (bus or train) to get to schools. We have many bus stops, eve in villages.

I had the falling back too. Not on my back like a turtle, but I had kneeled and fell back. It was hard to get up! I was short and very skinny. And even though I was an athlete, it was still hard to get up. I like the old fashion book teaching. But the technology of these days, will help preventing these things from happening and will not give us back problems like the bag packs full of books.

When I was in third grade, they called the bus I rode, and I couldn't stand up from me already having my backpack on; one of the teachers literally had to help me up so I wouldn't miss the bus

to so many that is true. I opened my home to a group of "panhandlers" for several years when I lived in Washington, DC, USA. If not for these homeless men I would have been on the street myself. I learned to see what others could not. Human beings!
