Wells Fargo. I paid my moms car payment to help her out ONCE. And they set my account as the main account. Wouldn’t be a big deal if they overcharged my account ONE TIME and fixed it. No. They did it four times. Each month my mom would call and have them reimburse my overdraft fee and delete my account from their records. They said they would and what do you know, next month I’d have $400 or an overdraft fee removed from my account.
The last time my mom literally cussed and screamed at them until they fixed it. She threatened a lawsuit and everything before they finally did what we needed. Next time she needs help with her bills she’s getting cash. And if Wells Fargo is doing the loan, I’d rather take it somewhere else. As long as I can avoid using them, I will.

United Way (charity).
Coworker gets cancer and we set up a big jar in the cafeteria for donations to help her with treatments. United Way comes in and tells us that they have an "exclusive contract" with our company (large, international company) to be the sole recipient of any charitable donations on the property and demanded that we remove the solicitation jar and cease any fundraising for coworker's cancer treatment.
They had an annual "drive" where department heads competed to have the most donations and ongoing monthly contributions, but the next year the number of participants in the company dropped to almost nothing. Good.

The big scam: religion
A tax-free industry gets people to believe that happiness, health and economic prosperity truly depends on the frequency of attendance and the extent of donations ,
The Catholic Church used fear and indulgences to extrude wealth from hapless participants.
Modern religion uses HOPE as the way to bleed congregations and keep any abbherant thinking in check.

Software as a Service models. No one needs or wants their software to update and change formats every few months. We all just want a stable software that we can learn to use for a few years before a major performance upgrade. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t still be using Microsoft Word Millennium edition.

Worked a month as a pharmacy clerk, health insurance price disparity is insane, especially on things like insulin.
SocraticIgnoramus:
This is also why you can’t ever get a straight answer in medicine regarding how much a given procedure costs. Everyone’s got these contracts with wildly different prices, but they know that can’t say “$5,280 with Cigna, or $37 with Medicaid” so they give all kinds of non answers.

Finding out who sponsored "influencers." The largest sponsors of "clean Tok" are cleaning manufacturers. Those makeup videos? Sponsored by makeup companies. All the "tradwife" and farm life videos? Sponsored by far right media groups. It's ALL a scam. All of them are being paid behind the scenes to push certain goods or a certain lifestyle. TikTok is literally just watching short commercials with less transparency.

Because education, law, and science are suddenly considered anti-American. Without education, everything eventually crumbles.
Even before this Trump administration, Americans have been losing jobs to foreigners that are better educated than us. We’re losing those jobs because Americans just aren’t qualified, simple as that.
At the rate things are going right now, we won’t have any professions left that require a brain.

My friend is an artist. She made a living off commissions on Twitter. That site going to sh**e and the rise of AI has already caused her to lose 80-90% of the commissions she was getting a few years ago. She’s currently working a minimum wager to keep what she can in her account while she figures out what to do.

This is one of the saddest parts of AI. We thought AI would take over mundane tasks so we could pursue things like the arts, yet here we are, doing mundane things while the arts are being taken over by AI.
Even our community alerts pages on FB are now adding AI generated images with every post. It's annoying AF 99.99999% of the time.

My hope is that car salespeople go extinct. The dealership model is antiquated and unnecessary. There’s no good reason why one can’t buy a car completely electronically. Choose car. Add options. Add to basket. Select financing. Complete purchase.
