The “Conservatives Getting Owned” X page has been around for a while now (since that auspicious year of 2020), and has accumulated an impressive 356 thousand followers. In this day and age, most of us know not to pick fights online. After all, there is no “winning” , just a battle to logging off in the mud.
This is perhaps why this page succeeds, as it does a vital job of showcasing the times where folks with questionable ideas had those same ideas obliterated by words. The idea of a person deciding to “report a crime” online no doubt came from pages like this. If that’s not enough, remember, there are all sorts of cases of people owning themselves.

I mean saying “we wouldn’t be here today if people didn’t do what they did yesterday” makes sense in literally any scenario. Insinuating that these current circumstances are the best things could ever possibly be and past human cruelties were inevitable is kind of weird and very unfair to those who suffered.
The only time I called 911 the ambulance ride cost me $750.

It's not completely free in Finland either as aren't hospital stays etc. It's something like 10€ and hospital+ operation was around 50€ IIRC, but you're exempt if you're low income and medicines+other health care has a total price cap of about 600€ per year in any case

I'm American, and yes, I have avoided taking an ambulance bc of the price.
I babysit, and this is one of my worst fears. I don't normally carry a car to my sitting sessions, so the problem of paying for the ambulance has always been a dicey thing in my mind.

I broke my jaw in a pretty bad bike accident, and avoided taking an ambulance "against medical advice" bc I'd just finished paying off a $3000 bill for my kid. In 2023 I had a seizure at work, EMS was called, I could not refuse the ride. I am now paying off a $2100 "taxi" to the hospital. So many levels of messed up!
Not just a taxi, an ambulance is like a hospital on wheels. Still crazy you have to pay for them.
It is true in a way, an ambulance is more like a mobile hospital than like a taxi. If it is safe enough to let a neighbor or taxi drive you to the hospital, of course you should do that instead of going with an ambulance. But you should never have to avoid an ambulance because of financial reasons, you should just be able to call 911 and then they will decide whether an ambulance is necessary or whether it is safe to just ask a neighbor or taxi to drive you.That's how it works in normal countries where you don't have to pay for an ambulance.
its sad that ambulances cost so much in some countries. in my country, there's a base fee of 30RMB and 7RMB per kilometer, which is around $4.15 base fee and $0.97 per km. it can get up to 300RMB or $41.46 on average. Still sad that we cant have free ambulances, but im glad that its a lot cheaper than some other places.
Well, taxis are paid for, and in a functioning society ambulances are free.
I drove 30 minutes to the hospital because I thought I might be having a heart attack. Made sure I had my phone in case i was incapacitated while driving.
Sadly but ironically, avoiding healthcare because of the cost keeps healthcare costs down. Some small towns only have 2 - 4 ambulances. What happens if you can’t get an ambulance to the hospital during a heart attack because they are currently being used to transport someone with a broken arm? America is huge. Sometimes the nearest major hospital can be 50+ miles away.
What is an ambulance if not a ride to the hospital? Where I live they increased taxes by about $5k a year, but ambulances are covered by that tax. Not saying whether that's good or bad, but at least you can call an ambulance when you need it and not get stuck with a huge bill.
too many people ARE using Uber/Lyft to get to the ER as they can't afford an ambulance.
I drove myself to the hospital when my body was crashing so bad it took 2 hands to turn the key. Then when they informed me they needed to send me to a larger hospital, i waited two hours ( until 7 am) to call my neighbor to take me. I didnt know if my insurance would cover the 60 mile trip.
With the insurance I have, which boasts a $0 premium, $0 deductible, and $5 copay, it would be a $500 ride.
Personally I would say an ambulance is not a taxi to the hospital if you need to get to the hospital and can easily do that then you shouldn’t call an email ambulance but if you can’t access the hospital or easily get there then that is when an ambulance is necessary
I know of several people that called an ambulance when they needed to go to the hospital to give birth. It's absolutely not encouraged and absolutely unnecessary, but if people call the ambulance for that they should be able/afford to call the ambulance when they are sick.
Then you're assuming that all labours go smootly and last hours. Labour can be very unpredictable and some women's labour progreses very quickly and they may not have time to make their own way to a hospital before baby comes out, so have no choice but to call an ambulance.

It's become increasingly worse. We're getting to the point where having manners is "woke" because why be nice to people when you can be as rude as possible in the name of, I'm not sure what, patriotism or something? If some right wing podcaster decides it's a left wing thing to wear shoes, right wingers will stop wearing shoes. And then they'll look around and see that right wingers aren't wearing shoes while left wingers are, and that will cement wearing shoes as a left wing political statement.

i consider conservatives to be traitors to humanity. theres nothing good about any position they support. at all.
Take the 30 million and redesign an old school or hotel into housing units. People need a place to live NOT a study on their circumstances.
These kind of posts are so annoying. It seems like all that's on here now is negative reddit posts (cheating, bad bosses, etc), upsetting political c**p, and bashing of other people. I want more of the good stuff. The cute animal posts, interesting science facts, funny memes. There used to be more positive stuff on here
