"A big trigger for perfectionism is social media and that fear of missing out,” he said. “It can be challenging to take a step back and recognize that what is being posted isn’t reality."

What I find most disturbing is what they edit. Some have reduced some enlarged breasts - fine. Some have narrowed or widened thighs - fine. All have smoother skin, that's OK. But why does every single one have narrowed waist - not right. Why does every single change to the eyes have bigger eyes - not right. Why smaller head, longer limbs? It's the attraction towards serious physical illnesses as a beauty standard that throws me.
Because that's what media/social media has shoved down everyone's throats as "the epitome of sexiness" instead of real beauty. I don't get the smaller head thing, though. That's just creepy.

Small heads symbolize small brains; ie small intellect. The emphasis is on female sexual parts. These women are unwitting participants in a pervasive misogyny that sees and aims to keep women purely as sex objects

Unrealistic body standards have gone way too far, many of these people are beautiful in the original image, this is sad.
Feels like the west and east have different views in what is beauty. Atleast for the more or less mentally ill that does these kind of things. In the east the women seem to more often want tiny heads, be tall and stick-skinny with 0 curves. Males seem to follow that path also more often. In the west its about as much curves as possible combined with a waist like a stick. And same with the men with muscles and a tiny waist
I don't understand why people do this. I get people not liking their bodies but then don't plaster it all over social media. It's kinda sad really.

I'm afraid a lot of this is "thinspiration" And it's what people with eating disorders use to motivate them. It's called pro mia and pro ana. Most of us think this looks ridiculous, but to someone with an eating disorder this is the goal.
This is not thinspiration. Eugenia Cooney or Lily Rose Depp are thinspiration. This is just bad photoshop or good angles.
