Person Exposes Greedy Pastors By Showing What Expensive Designer Items They Wear Every Day
InterviewPractice what you preach. We expect our leaders—no matter who they are—to maintain certain standards of decency and to uphold the same values they profess to support. Those expectations are very clear when it comes to religious authority figures, whom we hope to be charitable and to focus more on the spiritual rather than the material things in life. Alas!
The ‘Preachers N Sneakers’ Instagram account, run by Dallas-based Ben Kirby, calls out those religious leaders who act like hypocrites by showing how some of them wear extremely expensive designer items. Having amassed a following of 247k followers in two years, Kirby continues to show the dissonance between what preachers, pastors, and priests say and what the details of their clothing reveal about their actual lifestyles.
Bored Panda reached out to Kirby and spoke to him about keeping religious leaders accountable and what keeps his relationship with his faith strong. Be sure to read on for his insights.
When you’re done looking through this list, you’ll find Bored Panda’s earlier article about ‘Preachers N Sneakers’ right over here. Just in case you wanted some more content before your upcoming Sunday service, that is (we sincerely hope your pastor is more down to earth than the ones featured here).

Old Pic, Timeless Style With Pastor John Gray In The Supreme X Louis V Jacquard Denim Parka $9,625
To hell with the poor and suffering!! It's all about the greed!!!
Jesus did say that rich people go straight to heaven right? Man that New Testament is too long to actually read ...
Load More Replies...Not only is this jacket super-expensive, it is also unbelievably ugly.
Rich people do appear to be easily conned into buying ugly s**t!
Load More Replies...are you talking about the jacket or the pastor?
Load More Replies...I never understood label-whoring. Why is it important that everyone know you spent a lot for your clothes/bags? How insecure are you?
Do you blame these predators or the idiots who willingly give them money? Stop giving money to them, it's not going to Jesus. Jesus does not need money. And the fact that churches are tax exempt is outrageous. That needs to change.
I blame the predators, their victims may not be too bright, but they think the money is going to those in need. And the sinner is always to blame for the sin, even if the victim ain't helping the situation
Load More Replies...Good for you! :) One of the reasons I quit over 20 yrs. ago is twisted shiit like this. Now i don't know if I'm agnostic or atheist.

It looks like the shoe department, not men's wear.

$1400.00 for a .50 cent T-shirt???? I guess the starving people in the streets can starve for a bit longer.....what the hell, right?!!
What kind of a moron do you have to be, no matter how rich, to pay almost 1.5 K for a bloody T-shirt?
who in the actual f**k would pay 1400 for a f*****g TSHIRT. A TSHIRT. Not a jacket, not a suit, a simple hanes tshirt with "supreme" on the front how stupid.
To pay that much for a white shirt, you must be plain stupid. ITS A WHITE SHIRT. WITH A LITTLE HORRIBLE LOGO IN IT.
You can literally buy the nicest plain t shirt fabric and just get this screen printed on it and have a better shirt. Then get it tailored to your body and still pay less than $200 for the whole thing.
That's literally my rent for a month. Jesus would slap him if he could.
The gullible and uneducated need to stop giving these scammers money. Jesus does not need money and these people do not represent him. They're scammers preying on your stupidity.
If I could up vote your comment 1000x I would.
Load More Replies...Kirby told Bored Panda that we ought to encourage faith leaders to surround themselves with people who can be honest with them about their actions. "Many churches today are led by one pastor couple with no elders or leadership team on the same level, that’s asking for trouble. Being a pastor is a tough job; it’s an immense calling to lead others spiritually. Why wouldn’t you put as many safeguards in place to help you stay above reproach?"
According to the founder of 'Preachers N Sneakers,' if you're an active member of your local church and you donate to the ministry, it's fine to ask questions about how the organization is "saving, spending, and giving that money." Kirby is a big believer in transparency and thinks that it's a good way to maintain a strong relationship between parishioners and the clergy.
"If you ask about finance specifics and get a wishy-washy answer with no real reporting, you should ask yourself why," he said. "On a more macro level, I think a time is coming where massive church organizations will at least be required to provide more detailed financial reporting to the government or some other governing authority. So many churches have enormous donation revenues (hundreds of millions of dollars), commercial real estate holdings, and licensing income that seemingly have no reporting requirements compared to a for-profit business."
Pastor Mike Todd Staying Anchored In The Balenciaga Triple S $1,090
Please send donations right away! If you donate within the next 30 minutes, you'll get a booklet written by the pastor on how to be humble.
Of course he slogs through water in them. I'm sure he has a dozen more pairs in the closet.
This s**t looks nothing special yet they are so ridiculously expensive. At first glance u can say they are a pair of sketchers
His clothes does not look cheap either? Maybe i'm wrong. I don't understand how people can use so much money for clothes and shoes no matter "how rich" they are.
Prophet Bryan Maldonado Keepin That King Jesus International 501c3 Status Intact In The Royal Blue Lv Runners $1,020
Another dude squeezed in to his ugly dork outfit looking uncomfortable and weird AF and trying to hide it with clown shoes.
What grosses me out too, besides the ridiculous flaunting of misused (and usually poor) congregation funds is how basic this super expensive stuff is!! If you're going to be an a**hole in stupidly expensive clothes at least be wearing something that looks like it should cost that much.
Seriously. Those shoes look like something you'd buy at the dollar store with the LV logo stuck on.

It's just ironic.. is this normal? I'm muslim & have no idea why do these preachers/pastors can live in luxury? Are they given more than enough wages from the church or from ur government? Can anyone explain it to me?
They don't get wages from their denomination or government. All their money is from the poor suckers who they trick into sending it to them. These assholes tell their followers that God will bless them if they donate money, and more blessing for more money.

How does financing Joel Osteen's Ferrari or, buying Creflo Dollar a 747 get me into heaven?
That is almost what I make in a month with my teaching job -- before taxes. OMG.
I can't see the difference in wearing those and the ones I'd buy on the high street for like £20.
Kirby added that with the advent of the pandemic, the account's content has changed "significantly" with remote services taking the place of physically going to church.
We also enquired about what keeps Kirby's faith strong and whether his project has changed anything. "My relationship with Jesus, my wife, and my community has helped keep my faith strong. Getting insults from other Christians for two years didn’t exactly make me feel great, but it caused me to really dig into why I believe what I believe and learn to place my worth in what God says about me and not what others have to say," he revealed.
"I’ll just say that I’m grateful to have the opportunity to help others push for a more authentic faith and representation of Jesus to the outside world. I didn’t do this in a perfect way and definitely don’t have all the answers, but am trying my best."
Here Is A Supreme Beach Ball, $125
Equally, someone managed to sell a beach ball for $125.
Load More Replies...Let's see, should I feed my family for a week and buy a dollar store beachball, or go for the name brand beachball and be hungry for a few days? Tough choice!
You could buy a beachball that came from the same factory for $2.99.
Load More Replies...I'm sorry, but I just feel bad for people who buy "Supreme" merchandise. Or any time of merchandise that has the company's logos written across. You're literally paying the company a large sum of money to let you become a human billboard....You're paying them to advertise their brand XD
Again, see my comment on the 1400 tshirt. This is the dumbest s**t I've ever seen!
Why? Why does this item exist? What heavenly being lets a $125 beach ball exist?
AYFKM? How is this justified? I would love to see how they answer that standing before their God. If I was in their congregation I would be running them out of town with not so much as a penny. Clearly, shame isn't taught under their roof. Utterly disgusted. - Thou shalt not steal from the poor to look hip with a beachball... a BEACHBALL.

Drove, jaguars, Mercedes, and two other really expensive cars. His loan was current, but that is what my department did, we modified them before they fell delinquent. He said donations were down at the church, so donations were down so he had to cut his salary, understandable. Was a two year modification. Then his rate when back to the normal rate. That time ended, he came back and wanted another one. Had just taken out all new leases on newer cars of the same model. I told him, I can't take this ti my boss, and ask for another one, when you are not doing anything on your own to cut your expenses. He said he has to keep up appearances at the church. He did not get another modification. This is why priests take vows of poverty.
It is not required on all catholic sects for priests to take a vow of poverty. And have you seen the Pope I think he isnt hurting for much. I dont think we have the same definition of poverty

If someone handed me a billion dollars right now, I still wouldn't spend $4G on a pair of shoes.
I'm guessing the congregation isn't outraged because they have no idea what those retail for. They probably don't even know what they are. They live by humble means while yet another "man of God" robs them blind and lives off their hard work. - If you have to pay to go to church, you're not going to the right church. You're being swindled.
"Oh, stop. He wearing tennis shoes." "Nah - he's wearing $4,000 designer shoes disguised as tennis shoes. He's a cheat, Ma."
Kirby, now 31, first decided to draw attention to how famous pastors live after watching some worship songs on YouTube and noticing how the lead singer was wearing 800-dollar sneakers. He found it suspicious how the Elevation Worship megachurch could afford to pay their musicians that much money. What’s more, he started wondering how the church’s pastor, Steven Furtick, could afford new designer outfits incredibly often.
Curiosity didn’t kill the cat; it started a new Instagram account that posted the price tags of the shoes that well-known pastors were wearing. In a single month, the IG account drew in a whopping 100k followers, hungry for gossip and righteousness.
In an interview with Sarah Pulliam Bailey from The Washington Post, Kirby said that at the very beginning, it was “easy” for him to make jokes about it. “Some of the outfits are absurd, so it’s easy to laugh at some of the designer pieces. The price tags are outlandish.”

These "celebrities" make the religious look ridiculous, but the majority are neither gullible or stupid.
Load More Replies...Yep...just hand over your hard earned money to these scammers. A true Christian would be humble, on minimum wage, spreading goodwill to others, and helping those in need, not swanning around in designer clothes, in the media, and wanting constant attention. 😡😡😡
This should tell everyone exactly what religion is, but like with the Catholic Church, people keep throwing money at the church even when it’s obvious what they do with it. The churches can be dripping in gilded statues and dripping gold ornaments with people on their knees praying for help to feed their starving family, yet they don’t see the sanctimonious deceptions right before their eyes. Religion is like cancer.
Power is right.. how to fleece the trusting flock .. what is that saying 'a wolf in ...'?

He’s not a preacher. Those are ridiculous outfits though. Ugly and cruel and overpriced.
Just more proof how corrupt and evil shoe companies and religions are. It costs $2.50 to produce these shoes. Even if they charged $10.00 a pair, the company would be making a huge profit.
He is not a Pastor, he's A founder of a couple of businesses and an investment guy. If he can afford the shoes due to his own hard work more power to him!
I honestly had no idea that a pair of shoes could go this high in price. Even if I had millions in the bank, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on shoes and clothes.
Pastor John Gray With Relentless Details! Givenchy Sweatshirt $1,145
I think they do this to show off and rub it in the faces of the congregation.
No it's not to rub it in the face. It's to say if you were as righteous as I you would have this too so write a check to me and you, too can be rightous. Been doing it since the Medicis. Not a new game just new players.
Load More Replies...I think a shirt that has only its brand name is only for snob people..
Why do so many people have crappy and ridiculously expensive Givenchy sweatshirts?
I suppose it's possible that Givenchy gives this stuff to them? Maybe?
Jesus had an answer for this kind of thing. If I DARE remind you, He plaited His Own whip and started kicking the tables over in front of the Temple. " Do not make my Father's House a house of merchandise!"
Givenchy sounds like the name of some 70s Moldovan company that produced 48 cars that were all lemons.
As time went by, he began asking some more in-depth questions about the relationship between status and wealth, and whether it was right to earn so much money while preaching about Jesus. “I began asking, how much is too much? Is it okay to get rich off of preaching about Jesus? Is it okay to be making twice as much as the median income of your congregation?” he said.
Kirby had kept his true identity a secret, however, he finally shared it with The Washington Post after publishing his new book, ‘PreachersNsneakers: Authenticity in an Age of For-Profit Faith and (Wannabe) Celebrities.’ Having grown up in a Christian home-schooling family, Kirby is an evangelical and believes in sharing his faith with others.
His family generously donated to their church because they lived a “comfortable but modest lifestyle,” however, Kirby began having doubts about how honest some religious authorities were after he saw his pastor driving an expensive car.

The reason these "preachers" are so successful has very little do do with their talent as preaching performers. These scammers are very successful because there are a lot of stupid people willing to listed to their drivel and give them their very last penny. Religions have always been tools for manipulating the poor and uneducated.
Sadly, most are probably poor enough that they don't realize the blatant flaunting of wealth in front of them.

“Like Hollywood—a world so often criticized by the pietistic—these institutions and their leaders celebrate and reward the ‘blessing’ of fame, popularity, and influence. Pastors function like ‘talent’ performing for an audience or like a spokesman for the church’s ‘brand,’” Kirby scathingly criticizes the hypocrisy that’s found among the ranks of some of the devout in his book.

Kirby's book/Amazon: "Founder of the phenomenon social media account "PreachersNSneakers" tackles how faith, capitalism, consumerism, and (wannabe) celebrity have collided. What started as a joke account on Instagram has turned into a movement. Through this provocative project, the founder of PreachersNSneakers is helping thousands of Jesus followers wrestle with the inevitable dilemmas created by a culture obsessed with image and entertainment. In PreachersNSneakers: Authenticity in an Age of For-Profit Faith and (Wannabe) Celebrities, the author boldly confronts many of the difficult questions plaguing countless Christians’ minds, such as: Should pastors grow wealthy off of religion, and why do we get so angry when they do? Is it okay to stoke envy among others with curated “lifestyle” images on social media? Do we really believe that divine blessings are monetary, or is that just religious wallpaper to hide our own greed? Is there space in Christendom for celebrities like Kanye

It’s not just what pastors and preachers officially earn. They can get the kicks, clothes, and other things as gifts or donations. Kirby, however, hasn’t lost his faith and doesn’t blame fashion and celebrities as a whole. He encourages other Christians to demand greater transparency and accountability.

Cindy, humans no matter how horrible and selfish and cruel they might be seem to think if they throw money into the collection boxes they can buy their way into heaven - Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha - my years of animal rescue work some churches would not even allow me to feed cats on their property. I believe a vast majority of preachers are the biggest crooks and phonies in the world and laugh all the way to the bank.

It looks like his lower legs are seriously swollen. I'm worried about his circulation now. Maybe he should be praying for health instead of money.
Last I checked legs are used to play the drums. He might have more muscle there than you do. Please at least least look up the person before you post mean comments....

He's also done commercials as well, so he's got money coming in. And just to add, he takes the train to NY every day from Philly, so he's staying in his home town.
It is like People on Bored Panda don't really watch Jimmy Fallon. 🤷🏻♀️

You had a couple of downvotes,I removed one...and a word of advice, make a list.I have several lists ready (you know,if you were stranded on a desert island what 10 books to take with you.) I have also a list of people I want to hang out with in Heaven and actually I have my first dinnerparty planned...no Harpist to play.....and pets are let in as well (Pope Francis has made it very clear animals have souls as well)

As a Christian, let me say that this is bullshit. If they read the Bible at all, there’s no basis for this prosperity gospel bullshit. Jesus said, “Sell all you own, give to the poor, and follow me.” Not, “Lie to your parishioners, buy yourself $1000+ shoes, and make sure you get a Supreme beach ball while you’re at it.”
Load More Replies...Aside from the "preacher" thingy, who the hell pays so much for clothes just because there is a particular label on it?
I was also wondering that. I normally buy quality stuff that lasts and I like to pay a good price for that. But there is an upper limit a certain piece can cost based on its function, unless it is made for a moon exploration maybe. 1000 USD sneakers are just ridiculous. These people essentially pay a few dollars to those who make the articles (just like with cheapers articles), a few dollars to those who actually design them (maybe a few more than with cheaper articles), and most of that to the brand.
Load More Replies...My only question is who the hell would spend 125$ on a BEACH BALL?
Religion is good business. You can promise anything and if you are charismatic enough people will give tons of cash for something you can never prove.
They're probably preaching the Prosperity Gospel, so they're not exactly hypocrites -- more callous money-grubbing bastards. (If you don't know what the Prosperity Gospel is, it's basically that Janis Joplin song "Lord Won't You Buy Me a Mercedes Benz", except dead serious.)
Load More Replies...Unfortunately, there is a movement among many of the megachurches (not all or even most) that teaches if you follow their doctrine, god will make you rich. When that is your message, the preacher wearing $1000 hoodie "proves" it works. Joel Osteen is the call-to example of this.
Joel Ostend, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, yep.
