Here’s What Famous People Are Doing To Help Out During The Coronavirus Pandemic
The coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of ending anytime soon, leaving people from all around the globe home-bound in self-isolation, many of them without jobs and struggling to get proper healthcare. These are the things one small group of people doesn't really have to worry about—the rich. Affluent celebrities have it way easier than most regular people, from easy access to coronavirus testing and qualified medical attention to being able to spend self-isolation in million-dollar mansions filled with all sorts of entertainment.
Despite some of them complaining and ignoring how privileged they are, there are also those who acknowledge the horrible position most people were put in by the crisis. To help alleviate the pressure posed by the pandemic, many famous people have joined forces to battle COVID-19 with generous donations. We here at Bored Panda gathered a list of well-known people who decided to lend a helping hand during the crisis. From providing hospitals with much-needed medical equipment to supporting the unemployed and low-income families through food banks, these celebrities demonstrated their compassion during tough times.

Net wealth doesn't mean they have all those millions sitting in a bank account though, a lot of it will be tied up in assets. I think any celebrity that is helping should be applauded. Not all of them are, they don't have to, and their acts could encourage others to donate too.

It matters because they have *substantial* aid that they can give. Thier actions may be good on the surface, but we cannot wrap our heads around how much money these people command. To me, a $3000 donation is out of reach. For her, it is 0.0008% of her net wealth. She could literally do this for over 1000 people, and not break 1% of her overall wealth.

What I find odd is the amount isn't disclosed for that one week that passed. Usually businesses get the word out first to drum up sales and donate all profit proceeds or match but up to a certain amount.

It is great the professional athletes donating money to help the venue employees who were put out of work when the leagues were put on hold. Early in the crisis it was pointed out that the athletes were stepping up, but the billionaire owners of the teams and venues were not.. I am wondering if this has changed?

It's marvellous that private people are giving money to charities to help those who need it. It's repulsive that the Trump-administration is giving copper cents to those who need it and golden coins to people that don't need it.

It's like one person said before...we should do the Mario Kart rules of distribution of emergency funds. The closer you are to first place, the less helpful power ups you get. I think the closer you are to the 1%..the less federal assistance you need. Save the money for the poor people living paycheck to paycheck and who just lost their jobs.

Glad they're doing this and the money will go far. Still, they're giving of their abundance so don't go too mad praising them. Real praise is reserved for frontline workers, volunteers and essential workers keeping countries running. These folk don't even notice the money they're giving away, yet reap huge dividends in the publicity and business opps that follow. But sure, I'm glad they're doing it and hopefully setting off a chain reaction amongst others with way too much money.

When the millionaires start helping, they can make a huge difference, because of the amount they can afford to give. In a sense, it should be compulsary in those difficult times that the big CEO's forgo their bonuses or salaries as well rather than greedily cry and ask for bailout from a government (read: you and me) who they haven't even paid their taxes to, while rolling in it. It's not like it's going to last forever, and if we're in it together, as we keep being told, everyone should participate. Especially those who can. Like Presidents, Royals, MP's, Lords, Ministers, Senators...who are, let's face it, paid by their employees and should not rake outrageous salaries/bonuses. Have you heard of any, in the world, saying they'd cancel their bonus or reduce their pay for a while at least? Thought not. And guess who's going to repay the debt they're increasing to "save" the economy....
