Canada is truly a place of wonder. With its nature and kind-hearted people, among other things, there’s much to love about the country. However, as with any point on the globe, Canada is not exempt from being meme-ified. The main reason for this is the fact that Canada is globally subject to a wide variety of stereotypes, which range from wholesome to “very Canadian.”

Whilst the term “stereotype” can be associated with negativity, this list of memes celebrates the unique nature of Canadian culture and quirks. After all, the internet simply loves to have a laugh at Canada in the best of ways.

Here at Bored Panda, we have collected some popular memes about Canada. Scroll down to see them all, and if you enjoy this list, consider leaving a comment and upvoting the entries you like the most, eh?

Most (but not all) public toilets at bus stations in Croatia will charge you some small amounts, and some places will even charge you more for poop and less for pee.

In Paris, you can buy a toilet pass which covers free washroom use in the entire city. Oh it's called Paris Museum Pass.

I'm from the UK. Toilets are free here and our healthcare (NHS) is free too, although I have always thought Canada sounds a great place to live!

Not all public toilets are free, in some tourist areas you have to pay.

Health care is not free in Canada. We pay for it out of our taxes. It's "universal" health care - meaning (in theory) everyone gets the same care regardless of income. What it really means is that the wealthy can pay more to supplement the standard health care with private health care, and people on welfare get better care than the employed because they get free prescriptions. Everyone else can go to a doctor - if they can find one that is taking new patients, and who has appointments available in the next six months, only to get a prescription for meds that they can't afford. That's my experience in Ontario.

Ok first of all let’s just get out of the way that the American healthcare system sucks. It costs a lot of money. There are some things you can get easier or of better quality in America, but it costs. No one is more frustrated about this system than Americans. I am a type 1 diabetic who is a real estate agent and consultant so I don’t have employer paid coverage. So we good on this, got it out of the way? Ok let’s move on “free” is a word thrown around more inaccurately than any other, except maybe socialism. I have never met anyone who actually lives in Canada call their healthcare free. Certain Americans handle that for them. Nothing is free. Taxes pay for this, but also if you need prescription drugs, dental, vision and other elective procedures you are not covered. Also because it is a general tax you can’t really extrapolate how much of your tax dollars actually go to healthcare. Many employers cover the private insurance (US does this to varying degrees based on where you work), good God I miss my corporate job in NYC sometimes 😔. Yes nearly everything you need to pay on your own is much much less than the US. We got it, but it still isn’t free. Also yes there are much longer wait times than in other places, but not as long as many people think. There are also not as many doctors so it may be harder in certain areas to find a specialist you need, and you have to get a referral from your GP, so that can add an extra step. In addition this varies by province. Provinces are able to handle the rationing and other elements on the healthcare system independent of the Canadian government. In the end, the huge benefit of Canadian healthcare is the cost. Compared to the US, I mean duh. There are also certain elements in terms of quality that the US does better. This could go down an endless rabbit hole, but my point is can we please retire the word “free” when talking about Canadian or European healthcare? There is more covered, but again not free. Thank you. Also wtf is this toilet thing? Who pays to use the toilet?

Many years ago, washroom stalls in malls and businesses in Canada used to cost $0.10. They finally stopped it gotta be 25 - 30 years ago. Maybe longer lol. I remember as a kid climbing under the door to open it for someone who didn't have a dime and had an urgent need.

Except in Cardiff- since they got rid of the lovely underground "Crapper" toilets built in the same design as Sir Thomas Crapper's (inventor of the modern loo) which always seem to be closed off in the city centre. Nowhere else seems to have working public toilets in Cardiff since the council shut them all down.

So happy Americans don't have free medical. Well we do, 3 out of 5 patients in hospitals have no insurance. I am 75 yrs old and worked probably 50 yrs in the corporate corps. I have worked with many foreign coworkers or clients.NEVER have I met anyone who was happy with government healthcare!! Many coworkers came to the US to work because of the medical insurance benefits. They complain about long waits and poor services. Also, if government healthcare is soooo good why do these countries still have private medical practices?

I'll take the Canadian tax-funded health care that will never see someone turned away at an ER over what you think is a great American system. Our health care has its issues - long wait times and high drug costs but at least I know that if I get cancer, I won't have to declare bankruptcy after a few rounds of chemo.

Sweden has free toilets too. There are pay-toilets too. They tend be a bit cleaner as they're less prone to vandalism. No teenager is gonna pay to spray paint a toilet and steal all the paper if he can walk a block and do it for free.

Something is definitely wrong if you have to state "free toilet". It's like saying : this bottled water comes with free oxygen.

In France, if it's not free we'll piss everywhere. So it's becoming freer in mainly biggest cities. At the countryside, a bush or a tree is still the prefered option

Yeah, definitely free toilets beat free healthcare. I mean, it's not like you can relieve yourself in the bush. It's WAY EASIER to perform surgery there.
