Companies spend big bucks to make us remember them. They put billboards along the roads, run commercials during the Super Bowl, and have celebrities posting their products on social media. But whatever message they're trying to send, ultimately it's the relationship we have with them that matters.

A few days ago, Reddit user NotANameReally posted a question on the platform: "If brands were brutally honest, what brand would have what slogan?" And people responded. From IKEA and YouTube to Nike and Google, no business was safe. Continue scrolling and check out their poetic truth bombs. They're grrrrrrreat!

NotANameReally said the idea to ask this question wasn't that spotaneous. "[I thought of it] sitting down, trying to come up with something to post that would make people think, enjoy reading, and replying to," the Reddit user told Bored Panda.

According to them, the discussion that followed was a really pleasant one. "Every reply seemed very relatable to everyone, including me. My favorites were all the funny Comcast comments and the Taco Bell comment by Ferrrociousb. It said, "Taco Bell: you can make 32 different things with those 5 ingredients, why mess with perfection?"

Communications and Outreach Team Leader at Creatopy, Diana Bolboaca, likes to think of a brand like a person. So if its logo is like its face, a slogan is like its voice. It either catches your attention and speaks to you or you can't really understand what it is blabbering about.

"You know how important first impressions are," Bolboaca wrote. "[But] not all big brands have catchy slogans, though, while some of them create a new one for each major campaign. So no, having a catchy tagline or slogan is not the cornerstone of success and ... you don’t need to hit the nail right on the head the first time."

"But having a catchy slogan up your sleeve is undoubtedly a great way to cut corners when approaching your audience, and a useful tool in your arsenal when it’s time to get creative," Bolboaca explained.

The creative said that slogans are meant to persuade and act as a shadow identity of a brand while promoting a specific product or service—a genuinely successful slogan is also a long-term commitment. A good slogan is memorable, positive, and sets its brand apart as well as highlights its benefits.

From a consumer point of view, NotANameReally thinks slogans need to be honest to let us know what the business is about instead of being vague or straight up lying but being too open might bring hatred towards the company or a massive loss of consumers that they used to have before. So they need to be balanced.

Twitter, where a woman can be completely "cancelled" and made to leave social media because of a joke made over a decade ago despite the fact she has become the most wholesome person I was ever subbed to, meanwhile twitter is also where a guy can sext and manipulate minors and be defended for it. (looking at Jenna Marbles (love her) and james charles (can go die in a fire pls) here)

Agree. We cannot keep looking back on something from ten or fifteen years ago through the eyes of today. We are in a very different world from even three years ago. What was acceptable then is unacceptable now. Also if that person was young when they said something potentially racist or homophobic, you have to judge them on how they are now they have grown as a person. James Charles is a good example of how someone is using their position and influence in a negative way. Not only is he completely toxic as a person, it feels very much like he using being gay in 2021 as a license to make questionable choices. He won't be dragged for what he has done because so many feel like dragging someone who is openly gay could be deemed as being homophobic and that could come back on them down the line.

no one's career should be ruined for their personal opinions unless it's illegal activity. i can be racist in my mind but perfectly polite to every human on earth at the same time. (btw, i hate all humans equally, so don't mock equal opportunity racists)

I hate the thing going on with Twitter rt now...I am happy because when I see ignorant people i see good people calling out their bs and actually teaching em stuff too💀 but I hate the whole cancel culture...like wtf...the most annoying example i have seen yet is people constantly hating on camila cabello...like leave it alone you cannot decide what she gets to do....she reposted some bad stuff...and she apologized and she healed...if you don't wanna accept don't...stop bringing it up everywhere just to spread hate and then the same people defend lil Nas x who was islamophobic, fatphobic, insulted several woman and made remarks about their appearance etc and they defend him just cause Islam doesn't tolerate homosexuality....well neither does many other religions- that's clearly so sexist. 🙄

Bhardi’s Dad is right. Even if you said it years ago you should still be held accountable for it.

They may have been taken to task by everyone they knew already and many they didn’t. They may have become benevolent souls and moved on like human people do. It is not your right on f’n Twitter to go after someone when you have no context or idea what that person has done since then. I guess knowing what is right your entire life is pretty safe but Jesus that’s boring.

Killers and pedophiles also may change. Should we let them free after they killed people or raped kids and they pretend they have changed?

Making a bad joke is not nearly as harmful as killing people or raping kids.

Blue is primary color. Pink is blue, red and white. This is why it costs more! No? Ok, let me think of something else then...

you'd be much better off with beans and rice. Most of these noodles are chemical franken-noodles that are gastrointestinal disasters waiting to happen. So delicious, so very deadly.
