"Money can't buy happiness" is a lie we get told over and over again by the people who own most of all the money and resources.

I realized this since I was seven but ppl kept trying to tell me I was wrong. why can't they just admit with money you CAN actually buy financial security and better health care for you and your loved ones, that will ultimately leads to calmer and happier life?

It just doesn't guarantee it. Because there's more to life than paying bills and having the stuff you want.

I'd say it does more to prevent things that cause sadness/stress than it actually causes happiness. Then again I have a negative account balance so wtf do I know

Well, maybe not true emotional happiness, but having been on both ends...plenty if money and poor as hell...I can say that having a sufficient amount definitely makes life easier. I'm not talking about an excess, mind you - but having enough to cover your NEEDS (as opposed to just wants) definitely reduces stress and gives enough peace of mind so that you are able to enjoy things. So, in that sense, yes, it does.

Money can get u happiness, it just can't guarantee it.

It doesn't look like I'll ever know.

And it sure as hell can decrease unhappiness.

Money can buy health care in countries that give no $hits about its citizens' health, and it's a lot easier to be happy when you're not writhing in pain, so yeah, money *can* buy happiness.

Oh let me think about it...having enough money so am i being able to pay for my rent and phone, to buy food and all the essentials i need to survive...well fu... wonder why that would make me happy

I, personally, disagree with this. Money can buy basic needs. It can't create happiness which you have to find in yourself and with support of friends and family. I've never been poorer in my life but I'm the happiest I've ever been.

Happiness in my opinion is fleeting. Money too is fleeting. No matter how much one has, there is anxiety over how to replace what is spent. Contentment is a more reasonable goal.

I'm happier flying first class than economy. I'm happier living in a nicer part of down. I'm happier if I can afford to send my kid to the best private school. I'm happier eating in a Michelin star restaurant than McDonald's. I'm happier if I can choose my work instead of needing to take whatever is available.

to some degree, I guess. not happiness per say, not the long lasting one that comes from feeling at peace with yourself and your life choices, but comfort for sure

If money can buy happiness, why rich people also commit suicide ?? If you are sad you can be in Seychelles or the most beautiful and luxurious place in the world and you will still seeing all black and white, without color and joy.
