We're all guilty of lying from time to time for our own personal gain. And of course, no one's here to judge you, after all, it's a dog eat dog world so everyone deserves to do a little something to help themselves. But when you think about it, how do you separate an innocent white lie and legit nasty lie? Well, this series of tweets about people lying for personal gain will show you how far people will go in order to get what they want, and honestly, you can't really blame them, some even managed to get married to the love of their life just by fudging the truth a bit.

I can't read music either, but I have a good ear for repeating what I hear. Got me through several years of choir before any of my choir teachers caught on.

Same here. Made it through church choir and school choir and band without being able to really read music, but I can repeat anything I hear.

Reminds me when I played the piano ... I couldn't read notes without using my fingers and going "up two" and "down three" ... I always learned the pieces by heart . Everyone was impressed, I was confused because why was anyone impressed I couldn't read notes?

Memorization and listening are actually a big part of being in choir. (spoken from someone who was in choir for almost all of her school years!) As well as listening to those around you, and matching your pacing to them. So despite not being able to read sheet music, this person already had two other key skills down pat.

Well, anybody can learn to read music in a couple of weeks, but I know a lot of people with many years of music classes, who can read music perfectly, but can't sing in tune even if you point at them with a gun!

Well.. if you are able to sing from memory, it doesn't matter so much that you can't read music!

The fact that you could remember that much in such a short amount of time is amazing too

I did the same for choirs all during my school years. I would listen and memorize. Good thing I was soprano, easier to hear the higher notes.

I took music "lessons" for 4 years before my teachers...and my parents...learned that I couldn't read a note if I tried! lol. I wasn't intentionally lying about it, though. Nobody ever asked...until that day.

What if the first kid could read music and every kid after memorized it by ear? The last kid probably would have sang a completely different song!

Our high school choir kids were tested like this (the more advanced ones anyways) except with 3-4 random pieces, so you didn't know which one you could get. That the way State competition does it too.

My dad used to do this on nature walks. Found out years later that the 'lesser spotted throat warbler' was a thrush.

That reminds me of this 6 year old kid in our neighborhood. He saw a banana and said he didn't know what it was, so we let him eat one. It turned out he didn't know what any fruit was so we were always giving him some. We thought we were doing him a huge favor. Got talking to his mom one day who laughed and said he would say anything to get food and he was familiar with all kinds of fruit! We were so taken for a ride!

How could you invent Jewish holidays? I mean, there's a calendar. You had a Jewish professor? College staff are really that stupid?
