We're all guilty of lying from time to time for our own personal gain. And of course, no one's here to judge you, after all, it's a dog eat dog world so everyone deserves to do a little something to help themselves. But when you think about it, how do you separate an innocent white lie and legit nasty lie? Well, this series of tweets about people lying for personal gain will show you how far people will go in order to get what they want, and honestly, you can't really blame them, some even managed to get married to the love of their life just by fudging the truth a bit.

Anyone able to explain this? I do not get why the marriage was necessary.

At some colleges, all students must Live on campus. The only exception is for married couples, permitted to find accommodations off campus. They got married just so they could get an apartment.

"Qualified to live off campus." What does that mean?

Some colleges require all students to live on campus unless they are married. Married students are "qualified to live off campus".

Believe me, honey, I identify with the LGBTQIA community for my whole life and my Hetero parents did not benefit from marriage so I try not to stress over it.

I almost married a gay acquaintance so I could live off campus at my very small college because they only allowed married or non traditional (aka older) students to live off campus. Luckily they ended up making an exception for me.

To be honest - That is a no-go. Not only that you are willing to lie to your kids, but telling them that something is dead and let them go through the grieve and the loss, is just an awful thing to do. I am not saying you are bad people, but on this one here, you did something bad. In addition, that for a very selfish reason. I am not the one to cast the first stone, but I hope you at least feel a bit ashamed!

Everyone has to start somewhere. You cannot enter a job, where they want three years of experience, without ever being able to get that experience. Sometimes you have to fake. At least you read some books and knew what you were doing.

Well, in a way I can understand it. It is not the nicest thing to do, but living on the streets, especially as a kid, must be very hard. In the end, it was "only" 10 bucks on each of them. They might have survived it.

That reminds me of this 6 year old kid in our neighborhood. He saw a banana and said he didn't know what it was, so we let him eat one. It turned out he didn't know what any fruit was so we were always giving him some. We thought we were doing him a huge favor. Got talking to his mom one day who laughed and said he would say anything to get food and he was familiar with all kinds of fruit! We were so taken for a ride!
