30 Fellow Celebrities Went Online To Show Gratitude To Betty White After She Passed Away At The Age Of 99
Some may say that the temporality of life is what makes it so special and precious, but it is never fun when good things come to an end, especially when a kind, loving and down-to-earth person like Betty White had to leave this world. She passed away in peace on December 31 last year at her home in Los Angeles and when people heard about the news, they wanted to share just how much they loved her.
Many celebrities went to their social media to give tribute to the legendary actress and we gathered them in one place. They remembered their own interactions with Betty, some shared photos taken with her and dedicated kind words to her. We invite you to look through the tweets and don’t forget to find a tissue before you do.

Betty White was born in 1922 on January 17, so she was 99 years old on the day of her death and would have turned 100 a couple of weeks later. Bored Panda has a fun article about what are the inventions that Betty is older than and you can find it here.
If it seems that Betty has been on your TV screens since forever, you’re not completely wrong. She actually has her name written in the Guinness Book of World Records as having the longest television career as an entertainer.
That’s something I didn’t know about her. Talk about having a full life and experiencing as much as you possibly can. She was even cooler than I thought!
Through those years she won 6 Emmy Awards, 3 American Comedy Awards, a Grammy Awards, a Teen Choice Awards and many others. The first Emmy she ever won was in 1975 for best supporting actress in the critically-acclaimed sitcom "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."
She was such an icon and a very well-known and awarded actress and TV personality, but what she wanted to do after graduating was actually being a forest ranger, however at that time women weren’t allowed to serve as rangers. So working on a school play she discovered that she enjoyed being a performer, and that led Betty to decide to focus on that career path.
For a while Betty had to put a pause on her career because World War II broke out. Looking through this list you may notice that there is a tweet by U.S. Army. It is because Betty volunteered for the American Women's Voluntary Services during the war.
She had to drive a PX truck and bring military supplies to Hollywood Hills and she also remembers how they danced with the troops who were set to go overseas. Her comment about that time was “It was a strange time and out of balance with everything.”
I am old enough to remember Betty from the early game shows and was impressed, even as a little kid, with how much in love she and Allen Ludden seemed to be. There seemed to be genuine affection there. Hopefully, they're back together.
She seemed genuinely interested in others. Maybe that's why she is so precious to all of us.
As for many great actors, the start wasn’t easy for Betty either. She was denied roles in movies because she was not photogenic enough. That made her go to the radio where appearance didn’t matter.
Her talent was recognized and Betty was getting more time on air, was given her own show and eventually started appearing on television. Betty proved to be a very successful show host and was the first woman to win a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Game Show Host.
Not only her talent was recognized but what a loving and kind person she was. It is evident in the amount of posts on social media there are in her honor. From people who knew her only through the screen, from people who grew up watching her and from people who actually had the pleasure to meet her in real life.
We would like to know what are your memories about Betty White and what you loved her for the most. Let us know in the comments and upvote the celebrities’ posts that you feel express what you feel most accurately.
She was always hilarious, and completely unscripted, it seemed. She always had the best comebacks.
I hope someone does a huge retrospective of her work... it will have to be a mini-series at least.
Not just 'Americans' - she brought a smile to everyone across the globe.. and seeing the post below by Kerry Washington....she was not only an absolute icon, total trailblazer, legend, and genius but also a delightful badass...
So much respect for her as an animal rights activist. I heard her say in an interview replay just minutes ago on the news, " Animals are my first job, acting is just how I pay for it." She was truly an animal lover and protector. That gives her a definite win in my book.
She was such a naturally beautiful woman inside and out. Gorgeous pic.
Make sure its vodka. That was her favorite and secret to a long wonderful and healthy life.

Ok, so here's my theory. She wanted the biggest 100th birthday ever. So left in that sweet point where you start inviting everyone down here, while showing up right in time up there to throw yourself another party. Only Betty gets away with that!
As a black person there was something about her energy that spoke " we're all family" to me when I first ever remember seeing her on MTM. I've always thought she was gorgeous. I always felt some kind of warmth and comfort watching her.
Warmth and comfort - what a perfect way to describe that feeling! It's exactly how she used to make me feel...listening to her was like sitting at my Nanna's kitchen table and having a chat over some tea.
Load More Replies...I was 9 years old when Betty appeared on my TV screen as Sue Ann Nivens on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and I was hooked. Her 1970s game show appearances, with and without hubby Allen Ludden, were such a delight. I was 21 when I learned to love her as Rose Nylund on "The Golden Girls" along with so many others. And now, at 57, it feels like such a loss in my family. Good old Auntie Betty, she was always going to be around to make our lives brighter and better. Thanks for being there for all of us, Betty. I hope you're back in Allen's arms again and you're both surrounded by all the animals you've saved over the years. Blessings!
I think she died at the end of 2021 to cap off a terrible year. She didn't want to give us something to be sad about in 2022. Now I hope someone writes a fantastic biography of her and makes a brilliant biopic and that they make millions of dollars from that, which goes to charity.
I remember a clip I saw on YouTube with Betty White, Ryan Reynolds, and Sandra Bullock. Betty White was being so nice an pleasant to everyone, but when she an Ryan Reynolds was alone; Betty would give him all kinds of grief. But then in front of everyone else Ryan started giving Betty grief back. So they all started getting onto Ryan ass about picking on Betty White, and she told Ryan to get Betty a cup of tea for upsetting her. An when it was just Betty White, and Ryan Reynolds again. Betty looks at Ryan an said. "When Betty White wants a f*****g cup of tea; you go get her a cup of f*****g tea!" It was so funny I laughed my ass off for 20 minutes over that clip. An that's how I'll always remember Miss Betty White. Making me laugh my ass off; over a cup of f*****g tea! RIP Betty White; thank you for all the years of you being you.
Such a beautifully sweet, warm, and genuine lady. She is not a legend, SHE IS THE LEGEND! Oh how sad my heart is along with the rest of the world. You are forever loved and adored! You will live forever in our heart. Thanks for all the laughs! RIP.
We never had a TV for her first couple of shows. When we got one and saw her - the TV Guide was purchased and we figured out which people we liked were on shows if it said Betty White the show was circled in red and I had to crank the antenna to the station and wiggle it 'till it was as clear as possible. We all really love you still take care of my critters up there you and Allan. Happiness to you both! RIP The most Golden Girl of them all! Thank you!
I like many many MANY other people grew up with Betty being a household name. Not gonna lie I thought she'd live forever. My (and every one elses's) world was shook when I found out she passed. I hope her and my Grandma (she adored her) are up there eating a hot dog and sipping on some Vodka right now. Tell My grandma I said Hi Betty.
Great actress, she will be missed. Little off topic, but was Betty's acting carreer longer than Lillian Gish's? She also had carreer spanning over seven decades, and died at age 99 (in 1993)
I know that all over the world, people are remembering you and all the good you did in the world. Thanks, Betty, for lighting up the world for 99.9 years. Have fun in heaven with all the animals up there, and save a little vodka for the rest of us 👼 👼 👼
Rewatching the Golden Girls. She had a best smile that light the Earth, Rest in Peace, Betty. We all love you
