Here's a more direct point to the anti-abortionis mantra of "save the children"...Anti-abortionists only care about the child as long as that child can give them some kind of political ammunition. @Czech Panda mmhh, yeah, as i Christian, i understand your views, but lol the reasons humans have evil is because they ate the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, which is the fruit that Adam and Eve ate because of the Serpent (aka Satan/The Devil) soooo when they ate that, they knew evil and started doing it. before that there was no death and no evil. God made Adam and Eve like that, but the fruit created death and evil. Aka don't trust snakes.

Dear believers, the problem isn't the metaphorical nature of your "holy book." Believe it or not, we do understand that. The problem is the complete and utter lack of evidence that any god or gods exist or that many of the events described in said book actually occurred (no geological evidence for a global flood only a few thousand years ago for one example). Metaphors can be explained. Lack of evidence is a bit harder to get around.

In the end, He has mercy on all who will receive it -- you're getting hung up on the Old Testament (and even there He had mercy on those who would receive it -- God knew ahead of time Esau was out for himself). Jesus came and died so that we could all receive God's mercy. You don't have to believe it, but that's how that works.
