“The Decade Is Just Stuck On Someone’s Face”: 44 Beauty Standards And Trends That Need To Retire
It can be quite illuminating to realize that what we tend to think of as visually pleasing often isn’t some objective, cosmic standard, but just a set of attributes our society currently values. As you get old enough to see trends come and go, the things some people might find beautiful can, at times, baffle and confuse.
Someone asked “What is a typical beauty standard that never made sense to you?” and people shared the trends and norms they just don’t get. So get comfortable as you scroll through, upvote your favorites and be sure to add your own thoughts in the comments below.

The long nails I honestly don’t know how you can be hygienic with them on.
Said this to my wife once and her response was "That's the first thing you think? You're disgusting" Yeah... no... those long nails tell me that you are most likely failing at some type of hygiene
I’m a woman and long nails make me visibly uncomfortable. Hygiene is a major concern but also how do you touch/hold delicate objects without your nails scratching the surfaces?!
Load More Replies...WITH A POOP KNIFE, of which you have 10 at hand to choose from.
Load More Replies...I had some done recently as a trial for my wedding nails. They drove me mad for a number of reasons - couldn’t type properly, couldn’t fasten my jewellery - but I didn’t have any issues with hygiene. You use the flats of your fingers, rather than the tips, for more than you realise. I didn’t injure myself or fail to keep myself clean in any way and I loved the way they looked (but took them off after a few days as they were too annoying).
I think they're pretty and I own ten well-cared for ones, but to each their own. It's just a bit of a learning curve, once you learn how to do things with them you can keep them clean.
Keeping the nails clean isn't what most of us are concerned about.
Load More Replies...Those long claws are ugly, but it`s great to pick weeds in the garden with nails, though.
Caterpillar lashes.
Horrendous... And this people really believe it looks nice? It is grotesque and artificial to the point of deforming people's features
I struggled terribly not to make jokes because the winds from her mega-lashes were pushing me away from the register. I made it but only just.
Those brushed up glued soap brows. I haven’t seen a single person, not one, that it looks good on.
Here's my theory: As we women age, our eyebrows become thinner. Mine certainly did when menopause came along. Having thick eyebrows must signal that you're young.
Brows alternate between thick and think in fashion - which is a disaster if thin was in and you overplucked! Soap brows look greasy, I can't wait for more natural brows to be back
"Bouncing back" after you've given birth. I hate the lack of appreciation for post partum bodies and the expectation you go back to having a flat stomach and peak fitness when you've literally been through the most extreme thing the human body can do.
My friend's FIL asked she why she wasn't using her maternity leave time to hit the gym and get back in shape. Her MIL really let him have it.
Some women don’t have a choice. They’re expected to be back sooner also when in the army. Fit back in pre pregnancy uniforms, be able to pass their PT test, and some units don’t even have a place for them to pump. My DIL was one of these many women. So much pressure was placed on her after delivering my granddaughter and it sucked.
I never understand why some men are so ashamed to be bald or think shaving their heads is just a sign of giving up and that they look old now. Bald men are hot.
Just like long hair, baldness doesn't suit every guy. Doesn't mean it's anything to be ashamed of. And, yeah, bald with some sharp-looking facial hair? Yum-my!
Load More Replies...As a guy with a receding hairline I don't get guys who shave to hide it or a large bald spot. Y'all look like Andrew Tate or Joe Rogan. Personally, I'mma Captain Picard the s**t out of my coming baldness
Shaving isn’t “hiding it,” it’s just going full Monty. And Rogan and Tate didn’t pioneer the look; why would you think of them first?
Load More Replies...I shave my head. It's better than a comb-over or a ring of hair around the sides and back of my head. Besides and bald head and good beard looks sharp, or so says my wife.
Indeed it does. My husband is also bald, and has a very short mustache/beard combo, and he's hot as hell!
Load More Replies...My paternal grandpa was bald, think looked like a a bird nest bald. It never bothered him a bit. He came from a different time though, he was a lumber man. My father looked like he was tonsured, it drove him nuts. I got mine from the maternal side, a full head of bushy hair and there are days I would trade it for grandpa's look
Male hair is a s*x-linked trait. You know how we're missing the 'extra' leg on the Y chromosome? That's where male hair traits are located, so we only have the female set of genes to work with.
Load More Replies...I think it's partly the association with aging, but correct me if I'm wrong.
And you better believe that a hair transplant is visible from a mile away! (At least the one you would travel for to save money.)
The fact that women’s bodies go in and out of ‘fashion’ has always been highly disturbing to me, as well as the lengths some go to achieve it. I feel sad about it.
They go in and out of fashion to suit the clothes of the time, rather than fashion designers actually thinking about how to make clothes to suit the bodies. There are some designers who do think about this, but they don't get the same fame the 'popular' looks get.
So much this!!!!! I was a curvy teen back in the late '90s when "h****n chic" was the thing. First I thought I was just objectively unattractive because I was "fat ". Then I realized other eras valued curves and I was sad. Eventually I realized what absolute BS it all is and got angry! The pressure society puts on people, especially young women, to conform to arbitrary and ever changing standards is just cruel. Particularly when those standards are not about styling, but the literal body you were born with.
Fit is never out of fashion. Unfit is never really in. Culture kinky is a weird "following".
Not saying today's 'fashionable body' is great, but growing up in the early 2000s was something else.
I wouldn't say "out of fashion" but more desirable depending on the decade, in several points in time it was attractive to have visible meat on your bones, mostly because it meant you were eating good and could afford to eat good
Dark skinned people being sold skin whitening products and light skinned people being sold skin tanning products.
Someone once explained that we want to be white but the tan is to look like you're privileged enough to go on tropical vacations a lot.
That is where it started. Pale skin used to be fashionable because it meant you didn't have to work outside. Then people began going to the French Riviera etc wearing fashions that exposed skin and that's when it changed. In western culture anyway. In a lot of Asian cultures they still go by the original idea, added to the 'racist' (not sure 100% correct term because I'm not sure if it's between races or subsets) idea that the ones with darker skin naturally were also traditionally the working class. There is a documentary by one of the Queer Eye guys about skin lightening in Asian cultures that is interesting to see.
Load More Replies...Interestingly, in Asia they prefer pale skin, since having a tan means having a lowly farming job, working on the fields the whole day.
I am. Took a lot of years to get here, but worth it in the end.
Load More Replies...Yeah, I have pale skin and I rather wear 50 SPF sunscreen, than tan even a tiny bit.
Why do people use tanning beds? Skin cancer is not pretty.
I can't afford light therapy for my psoriasis and my derm said 7 minutes in a tanning bed can help the flare ups.
I've had 4 spinal surgeries and suffer from muscle spasms. The warmth/heat of the tanning bed relieves my pain and spasms by relaxing everything. I only go when I need to. I call it "my 15 minutes of physical therapy".
Absolute nonsense. You don't need to be exposed to UV to get warmth.
Load More Replies...I'm confident I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I believe that sunbeds emit mostly UV-A (safe), with little UV-B (harmful, ionizing), so you have to disable the timer and stay on them a long time to have a problem. Having a tan gives some protection against UV-B from sunlight, which is why our bodies do it.
The early investment and over reliance on fillers and Botox. I am concerned that 20 year olds are doing this way too soon.
Jackster7917:
Lip fillers or fillers in general make people look much older than they are. I know not everyone is a natural beauty, but distorting your face to look completely different looks worse.
I don't know about making them look older, but those duck lips do make them look ridiculous.
If they could take the fat out of my thighs + stomach, then fill up my b**bs, cheeks + lips. I'd be thrilled.
Ooh ooh, me too! Fat out of stomach, butt, and thighs, into my b***s and my b***s and my b***s. 😂
Load More Replies...Its their face. They can do what they like. But agree they look ridiculous
OHHHHHHHH!!! I got a really good one. Back in December, I was in the ER with a heart issue that required Mt to be cardioverted. The doc, who is fabulous, took a call before the cardiovevrsion. He came back a few minutes later. It was his 20-year-old daughter calling him because she wanted Botox. All of us in the room did the "WTF" thing. He said "yeah, I told her no way in H*ll."
I find it sad that so many women feel the need to look like bl*wjob specialized p*rnstarlets. It signalizes a regression in gender equality for me. Then again, it's everyone's own decision...
I wonder what the long term effects of the procedures are? The body can only take so much before it loses its tone. Will these people descend into blobs?
Oh yes... Because nothing looks more natural and beautiful than an incapable of expressions botox filled face. Oh yes, beautiful. As pretty as deformed features and hot dog lips..

Full heavy makeup that makes you unrecognisable.
PercentageClear:
Especially weddings, I just don’t understand wanting to look that way on your big day especially if you’re naturally gorgeous. Im crossing my fingers for when natural/lighter look comes back in style. Im chronically ill and dont even wear makeup besides doing my eyebrows (terribly) so it’s really just my own person two cents.
Saw one of my school friend’s wedding photos recently on instagram. His wife looked gorgeous but she had on extremely thick (caterpillar like) fake eyelashes with a copious amount of eyeliner. It was so strikingly obvious and I couldn’t just notice anything else in the subsequent photos.
I had a wedding makeup trial today. I asked for red lips, smoky eyes and natural looking skin. She kept trying to bronzer on and contour my face to look different. I just wanted to look like a more glamorous version of myself, not a different person. (She ended up making me look like a geisha. Not what I was going for and I won’t be using her services!)
Not every woman needs to wear makeup! But, makeup is one of those things- along with clothing and accessories- that communicates "who" that person is (or wants to be). It is a form of self-expression. And anyone who gets makeup for a wedding is supposed to have a consultation and a "run-through". A professional will know this and encourage it. Also, makeup for photos should be applied a LITTLE more because of distance and the limitations of cameras. But it should always look like the person in real life, just smoother and not blotchy. (I am a professional Make Up Artist)
You know something? I disagree on the bridal makeup thing. A woman's wedding day SHOULD be the ONE day that she wants to look the most radiant and beautiful she has ever looked. If spending a few hundred dollars for it to happen for one day, then I won't judge her for it.
My best friend never wears a lot of make up, pretty natural looking. Ahead of her second wedding, another friend offered to do a makeup trial for her. She went really heavy on all of it and my best friend said it looked terrible (this other friend has always put on a lot of makeup herself so styled it like that). She told the other friend as nicely as possible it just wasn't the look she wanted and it just didn't look like her. She chose something a lot more like her normal look on the day.
My sister wore heavy makeup for years. She started in high school and quit about 6 years ago. It horribly aged her. She looks 10 years older than what she actually is.
Eyebrow trends. Especially when people make trendy eyebrows permanent like over plucked 90s shape and they don't grow back, or tattoo ombre in the 2010s. Every decade they change it up but the decade is just stuck on someone's face.
A few years ago, people were making fun of Cara Delevingne, comparing her eyebrows to Brezhnev. They're pretty quiet now.
Makes me laugh. 2 of my sisters insisted on getting their eyelashes done twice a month. After a decade of going to their eyelash ladies, they no longer have natural eyelashes. And we come from a family of people with thick, luscious lashes. They just went because it was easier to go for a 10 minute fix every two weeks instead of using mascara every day
If plucking eyebrows eventually caused the hair to not grow back, I'd know by now. I have very prolific eyebrows. I'm almost 60. IT GROWS BACK.
Consider yourself lucky! I know quite a few ladies that are stuck w the skinny upside down smile brows of the 90s.... They have plucking regrets, didn't grow back.

In my culture, I’m Indian, light skin. I always thought all skin colors are beautiful & dark skin is equally as beautiful as light skin.
All skin colors are beautiful. I'm as pale as Casper but what am I going to do about it? Live it up.
i freaking love the way really really dark skin looks. idk why, it's just so cool. all the other colors are really beautiful, but that specific color is just so :D
I'm a typical English rose ! I'm either pale or sunburnt. Nothing in-between
Overly whitened teeth. I find it really unappealing. I've merrily dated people with uneven or yellowing teeth, and as long as their oral hygiene is good it's fine. Over whitened teeth makes me think about cavity pain idk why.
I just imagine them sitting with a tray of bleach in their mouth and a UV light giving them cancer.
Humans .... the only animal where baring your teeth isn't a FAFO signal.
I think it's a trend that signalizes wealth in a nation that doesn't enjoy a well developed healthcare system bbut has a massive influence on pop culture and beauty trends.
I had one of my teeth lightened because it was an old but sound root canal filling and the tooth had darkened. I only did it until it matched the others though - it's still not white 😂
The new beauty standard that's emerging where everybody looks the same- is disturbing and does not make sense to me.

I am unique! If it looks like somebody's wearing what I am, I wore it first, LOL. I don't give a d**n about fashion.
I'm with you. I wore flannel and denim long before the Seattle grunge scene made it popular and I still do.

Breast implants (and I say this as someone who had them).
Big, small, I don't care. Just as long as they are natural. And knowing a woman that was very naturally large and all the pain she went through, I will encourage reduction surgery to anyone with that type of pain.
For many reasons reduction surgery isn't an option, I wish it was.
Load More Replies...The only time I would ever think about implants would be for reconstruction after breast cancer and a mastectomy.
Eh, I don't see the problem. If you're really flat and want to have bigger breasts, then go for it. Just make sure to not overdo it, and get it at a reputable place and not on a budget. Sure plastic surgery can look absolutely awful, and making your butt so big it can't fit in a car-seat is ridiculous, same with the obvious lip filler or Botox. But if you really hate how flat you are or genuinely don't like your nose, then what's the harm in looking the way you feel happy and comfortable with?
As a AA after three kids all breastfeed, I agree to disagree. I've almost save enough to get my upgrade.
I don’t know if this counts but- wrinkles. I like them. I feel like they give your face life and character.
I have never tried to hide my wrinkles, I'm 70 and earned every d**n one of them!
Amen! That's what I say about my grey hair. I have been 100% grey since my early 20s. Hated it at first and dyed it for years and years until I realised it actually looks beautiful. Nuanced in a way dyed hair isn't, and it suits my skin tone. Plus it has got me more compliments than my dyed hair ever did!

I don't mind the eye wrinkles, but the ones round my mouth make me look miserable, I've no idea why, did I get them from smiling
I think of wrinkles as a partially completed roadmap of my life. Like Bill Engvall, I want people looking down at my coffin saying, "D*mn, he went for it!"
The bleach blonde with grown out roots look always leaves me feeling extremely confused.
To me, it gives the impression that you fully committed to a color, and then completely forgot that that was what you were doing for the last couple of months. I feel like this has been puzzling me for over a decade now.
To me it is a sign that the "beauty standards" game just got quit. You go girl or boy or whatever
Unless you have light brown hair that goes blonde in the summer, in which case you have natural winter roots. That I find rather attractive.
I see the 'bleach blonde with grown out roots' as the 'pajamas worn in public' of hair styles.
I can't stand that. Why would you actually go out in public in your PJ's. Like I don't even do that if I'm sick wtf?

When people over line their lips and cover their Cupid’s bow.
Pap3r_Butt3rfly:
Yessss!!!!! The only people who I've ever seen look good when they cover their cupid's bow are legit the people who didn't have one/it was barely there to start with. Otherwise, the dip in your lips makes it look so bad!!!
I've seen some people that look like they were going for the clown lip look.
What annoys me is that I hate the look of lip liner and , unfortunately, the border of my lips is naturally hyperpigmented and it always looks like I'm wearing lip liner! It's really bad if for some reason my lips suddenly decide that they want to be "less inflamed than usual" and go a little more pale... then - suddenly - I look like I'm wearing a liner 4 shades darker than my lips (gah! I always thought of darker liner as trashy... but - there I am - helplessly looking trashy...)
Eyelid surgery in Asian countries, your eyes are very pretty. Skin bleaching, your skin looks beautiful, sunny and rich. Straightening Afro or curly hair, the big curly hair is literally to die for I love it. Irish girls giving themselves skin cancer on tanning beds to not be pale, your dark hair and Irish skin are so striking. Nose jobs, everyone’s noses are so cute before. Any surgery or alteration to colouring etc is just wild to me. Also anti-aging, wrinkles are beautiful, and greying hair im excited to have grey hair it’s so cool, natural hair dye.
I'm 40 and have some silver strands. One reason I keep them is I hope to encourage other women to do the same.
Funny you mention that, my best friend is a research prof at a university, and over the winter holidays she was back in town, so we were catching up. While commiserating over aging (we're both 37), I mentioned the increase in white/gray hair on both of our heads. Now I've had bits of white in my otherwise pitch black hair since I was 12, but my friend has not. She was, surprisingly, pumped as hell to be going gray, and was looking forward both to seeing how it would look, and to being taken more seriously in academia as she is a very small, petite woman who is frequently misidentified as an undergrad
Load More Replies...*read in wise old woman voice* your value is not in your beauty, but in your character, it will never matter how pretty you are if you're a b**h at the same time
As long as it's not because of outside pressure or you do it to a degree where it looks ridiculous, then I don't see a problem with surgery or using creams to lighten/ tan your skin. If that's how you want to look and you feel happier and more comfortable, then why not? Obviously you shouldn't go do it at a budget place, but at a reputable one. But I don't think there's anything wrong with changing yourself to feel more comfortable. Same with tattoos, hair-dye or piercings, as long as you don't end up looking to dumb, then who cares.
I wish everyone thinking they are not enough or too much understood that they are a beautiful treasure unique in creation . Rock what you got , You're one of a kind. Walk in beauty.
Putting on your foundation with a literal paint brush.
I get there’s been massive strides in formulations but I see people put in layer after layer of concealers and foundations and I just can’t imagine having all that product just sitting on my face all day. Do these people not itch their nose? Rest a hand on their chin? How does this makeup look after a full day? It just seems like…… too much.
Very true. Make up feels like having mud over the skin the whole day long. Not only feels, but also looks like mud too. Horrible
I have Rosacea and it makes my face red so I use some makeup. In my case, I have hyperhidrosis so I sweat a c**p ton. I usually wear sweatproof foundation, no concealer, and it stays all day.
Hi, fellow rosacean, have you try bare minerals lose powder foundation?? Light on the skin and lasts a lot even if you sweat. Also, there’s a green cc cream that works miracles with redness, cc red correct from erborian.

Any trend that makes the body a fad. Everyone has a different body type, composition, weight etc. To imagine that you can diet your way into having a Kim Kardashian figure without surgery is unrealistic and its dangerous. She doesnt even have that figure without surgery. All you have to do is eat better and be more active and dress for your body type.
Also Veneers. It doesn't look natural to have bright white 8x10 teeth. You can 1000% tell when its not natural.
I will never understand the trend of getting huge butt implants that look like you are smuggling a beanbag chair in your pants.
I have to disagree on veneers. My teeth were discolored by tetracycline when I was a child, so even clean they looked gray. Mine are not bright white, just what the dentist believed was a color that would have been normal without the discoloration.
Mine too! But we're alive. And as you say, no need to take the whitening beyond the realms of reason
Load More Replies...Why would anybody want to look like her? YUCK!!! Eating better and exercise doesn't always work either.
Always try to be the first... Never try to fit in . Set trends . Fit is fashion and healthy and comfortable. And I can't stress comfortable enough.
That having any visible body hair makes you “dirty”.
I don't judge people for their body hair or lack thereof. Personally though, I just love feeling smooth. I hate the feeling of stubble and hard wax tends to take my skin with it... so, my epilator and I have become besties over the years.
This is so true. I'm unfortunately the type that I can shave in the shower and then if I get a little too cold when I get out, my body hair has already come back as stubble. My body hair grows very fast but I usually shave twice per week.
I could grow a full beard at 14. Had someone yell at me 'Who left the wolf out'. Yelling back 'At least I hit puberty', while I thought it was funny, really ticked them off.
I'm 63 and don't even have to shave my legs anymore during warm weather and only have to do my underarms about every 3 weeks. As you get older it thins out and doesn't grow as fast.
Pros/cons dos/don'ts FYI https://www.healthline.com/health/purpose-of-pubic-hair
But I have hair on my head (which is part of my body) /being deliberately obuse
I don't give a s**t about shaving, I shave my armpits because of BO but that's about it
Unfortunately I've known people who didn't shave, and they had a tendency to not take care of their hair, or body odor. Like sure you don't have to shave, but if you don't you need to take more care in washing and using deodorant. It's also not something I personally like seeing, and feeling hairy really bothers me. But hey if you take care of yourself and you're not bothering anyone else who cares
Extreme thinness, is a health risk and the person ends up looking sick and mind you, I'm not talking about naturally thin women but rather those who clearly have ED.

I know it wasn't always typical and it seems to be dying out slowly, but it is just ridicilous! I get wanting to have a bigger a*s, I do too, but I workout for it so that the rest of my body matches. Some BBL's out there look scary bad and I just don't understand why someone would do that to themselves.

Another trend that makes me sad because it feels like so many women seem to feel the need to look like p*rnstars. The need to being overemphatically s*xually attractive to men makes me feel like we regress as a society.
Looking bored, dead eyes, never smiling in photos. I’m so over that look.
I find my fiance, the father of my two beautiful children, INCREDIBLY attractive. Every day. Regardless of how much or little sleep he's had. He's gorgeous. I sometimes weird him out by how much I stare at him with 😍 love-heart eyes.
He's never worn makeup in his life.
If I don't wear it, I feel like I look like a literal man, and not an attractive one.
I get that it's very much subjective to a point, but I do blame "society" for instilling this (incorrect, I know) idea that a woman's face isn't complete or attractive without it having been augmented in SOME way, even if it's just a dash of mascara.
My wife is the most beautiful person and dosen't wear makeup except on very special occasions.

Thigh gaps - people’s hips are all different widths.
I've been thin and I've been thick. I have never had a thigh gap. It's just the way I'm built.
So many people don't understand this. I've been underweight to the point where it was showing on my face, and I still didn't have a thigh gap. It's not really about your weight or being unhealthy. I'm not a fan either but some people have naturally extremely thin eyebrows, I don't see a problem with them wanting to permanently darken/define them versus drawing them on every single day.
Yes. But you gotta be careful who does the permanent makeup. They are expensive but I haven't found one that can do it well. Please, try to err on the side of caution. I can't stand the eyebrows just a bit too close together, I can see it and I don't like it. Also, if the shape is unnatural or doesn't suit the face. I have always had sparse thin brows but think I should attempt to do it myself because I don't want to look like a clown!!

Madison (and Madison’s mom…) please stop buying Drunk Elephant, Glow Recipe, and that awful red treatment from the Ordinary….

The online asian trend of glass skin and hair that, for some reason, influencers are trying so hard to achieve. If you don't have good lighting and filters following you around, you will look greasy. I have a friend who had cancer and lost her hair. She is fine now but she uses extensions because her hair will not grow past a few inches. I don't think it's stupid or disgusting.

The hairless face thing that's everywhere right now! Why does it matter???? You literally have to have a special spray to IDENTIFY THE HAIRS because you CAN'T SEE THEM WELL ENOUGH TO SHAVE OFF.
I can understand shaving the hair on your upper lip and shaping your eyebrows, both things I do, one of them because I can feel the hair when I breath and hate it and one because I dislike monobrows (***PERSONAL PREFERENCE***) but to take the time to shave your whole face when the hairs can't even be seen just seems ridiculous to me.
I'm an older woman, and I shave my face every couple of weeks because I don't like the look or feel of the peach fuzz that grows on my cheeks. If it doesn't really affect you that I do it, why do you care?
I heard it makes makeup application easier/look better? Maybe it's a personal preference and you should just get your nose back?
I loath facial hair. It's there, I'm old and I get rid of it. I don't care about what anyone else does, I do it for me
In east asia where I live, it's the standard for under eye fat bags (aegyo sal) where people either get fillers to achieve the look, or just draw a brown line under their eye fat bags to accentuate those fat bags. Apparently it makes your eyes look bigger and you appear cuter, but it was never cute for me. I thought it rather looked puffy when accentuated.
I do this with make up, it takes a bit of practice to not look like you're sick or been crying all day. But if you do it right (and have an eye shape where it's flattering) it does make your eyes look bigger, and can make them "pop" in a different way. I don't understand why anyone would do it with surgery when you can just do it with make up though
I didn't know what this was called, but I think "fat bags" (horrible name) are s**y as hell! I'm thinking of you Philippe, you Harvard communist, you.
Shaving your arms, I don't understand that at all. I guess the same for shaving your whole face?
Well, having pale skin and very dark hair isn't the best combination.Speaking from experience.
You've clearly never been called a 'cactus'. I have and hence I shave my arms.
I don't like having hairy arms and I'm pale and dark haired so it gets visible too. Why wouldn't I shave that?
I met a girl who shaved her arms when I was 15. Myself and other friends were so confused as to why (she said it was because her hair was too dark) because we had never thought about anyone doing it before.
Unnecessary cosmetic surgery and fillers.
Define unnecessary - I would guess it is different for different people?
People using brown lip liner even when it doesn’t suit their undertone.
No Hip dips. I once was in a changing room with a friend. She was talking about how much she hated her hip dips. I asked her what they were. Then i showed her mine were worse than hers. 15 year old me didn't understand then i still don't understand it now.
I don't even understand what they are talking about. What are no hip dips?
Hip dips are the stupidest thing to hate. That's how our muscles and bones are designed. Even body builder ladies have them.
For those of you who don't know what they are, they are the part of your outer hip where many women have a curve. So the bit that goes in at the side between your waist and the start of your thighs. I don't even know if I've got them but I probably do!
Boys short hair. Girls long hair and makeup. Long hair needs a lot of care. This plus makeup makes it harder to just get up, shower, dress and go, depending on the type of hair you have. I always thought this was weird. Like a kind of way to make women less flexible.
I love short hair! During the pandemic once the lockdowns eased I went and got a buzz cut cause I’ve always wanted one. I was anyway expecting to spend the next several months at home attending classes online so thought I’ll experiment a bit. This was around summer 2020 and I just loved how comfortable it felt to have such short hair in the hot months. And it took significantly less time to shower, dry out the hair, and make my hair. I can’t wait to try this again sometime.
Well, all that time women use for looks, maintaining and "improving" their looks is time they aren't able to do anything else...neither leisure nor earning money or politics. Hi there, patriarchy, still going strong, aren't you? (The expectation is what I'm talking about. The structural aspect)
I used to think that this was true, nope. Cut my hair in a short pixie, was way more work to look presentable than to just keep it long and brush it
Mine is mid shoulder length, I wash it, take the towel off a few mins later and comb it out. I think I've only used my hairdryer a couple of times in the last 3 or 4 years. Cold weather I wash it in the evening and the only time I wear makeup is for a wedding, funeral or Christmas party if I go.
Having to hide panty lines.
Don't wear panties? No lines to hide. Wear baggy pants? Wear thick pants/dress/skirt? LOTS of options!
But the best one of all, which is the one that does not require you to change, is to not bother hiding them in the first place.
Load More Replies...People who wear yoga pants and you can SEE their underwear line, I do not understand that.
Right? It's one think if you're wearing pants and you can see it if you know where to look. But pants that are designed to make it visible, why? Also why did it get so accepted and common to wear in public? You're showing people your underwear on purpose. It looks pretty trashy. Like if it's not on purpose that's fine. But those yoga pants where it's so tight and stretched where you can even see the colour of the underwear, why did that become a thing?
Load More Replies...More of a trend than a beauty standard—I do not understand the “Old money” fashion trend that has been popular. Why do girls in their 20s and teens want to wear business casual to the bar.
Because, since, as a post mentioned earlier everyone is looking the same, it feels nice to be stylish and for everyone to look different. plus the confidence when you are dressed well. 😊
I don't understand why young woman dress so much nicer than young men, for the most part.
We should have drowned the person who decided make up looks good. It feels and look like having a thick layer of MUD on the skin. And why is people focusing in the vain appearance instead of focusing into the real person WITHIN???
You would need to travel WAY back in time to do that!

Sadly, the next generation will have their hands full dealing with the $hitshow left to them from this administration. Perhaps the following generation.

Next time I scream to the next person who tells me, that I should tan. I love my white skin and absolutely refuse to ruin it.
