Human-Made Things Are Incredible Too And These 30 Striking Photos Of Cities Shared In This Online Group Prove It
Some may think that humans ruined the natural landscape by building tall skyscrapers and houses, but there is some charm to them too. It is especially interesting to see the differences between cities, how they developed and how new and old cities are so different.
The most famous city skylines are considered the ones in Chicago, New York, and Dubai, but there are so many other beautiful cities. That’s why a subreddit like r/CityP*** exists where people share high-quality images of cities and those photos are real eye candy.

Planned This Shot For Months Before Coming To The Us, But I Didn't Expect The Sun To Make The Rails Golden. Sometimes Photography Is Just About Being A Lucky Bastard
I like how the lanes are reflecting...making it look like a circuit board.
I live in sf. I assure you it's not like this most of the time. Foggy mostly. An no one except tourists ride cable cars. But still. Fantastic picture.
I only wish the top of the bridge wasn't cut off... gorgeous picture!!!
The subreddit was created 10 years ago in 2011 and currently has 724k members. Users share stunning photos that you can't take your eyes off of.
These photos are not only skylines with stunning sunsets behind them but also images from the flight of a bird, interesting and unexpected places in the middle of a city or how nature intertwines with a cityscape.
Mexican Town Pachuca Is One Big Mural
Pachuca is not a town. It is a city, also known as La Bella Airosa (Beautiful Windy) . Painting this moural was part of a program to reclaim open spaces in the city and to reduce violence and delinquency. This neighbourhood is called "Palmitas". Those who live there were involved in the making and during the development of the project, violence and delinquency dropped. The design are waves of wind visible as one runs along one of the main avenues in the city, but it has lots of small details that can be appreciated only by walking though the alleyways. (I was born and raised in this city, but a few years ago I moved. Writing this comment made me miss it so much.)
Getting people involved in bettering their environment is an effective way to reduce deliquency. In my city, they asked the schoolkids to participate in gardening. It stopped the adults from littering or damaging the parks.

Unfortunately, a lot of nice looking things like this in South American countries, are just the rich people painting the houses of the destitute so their view is better
My City: Groningen In The North Of The Netherlands. This Is Actually My View
super cute archtecture ! i will try to replicate one of these houses with freshpaint software ..
Those little driveways on the end. Looks like they are used to back in and turn around give me shivers omg
Center right it looks like there is a wide gravel road running in front of the houses. Tiny backyards with boat docks.

These kinds of open, green spaces should be required at regular intervals in every city.
In these photos you can clearly see how modern cities developed quite differently from the older ones, especially in the photos taken from above. For example, old European cities often developed organically, spreading from some sort of a center and the more modern cities were developed according to a plan so that is why they look so neat and have straight streets as opposed to curvy roads in many European cities’ historical centers.
London, UK 🇬🇧
Ti looks less magical in real life, without a photos, but, yes, certain corners of London are really pretty.
Lot of filtering going on here, although London is very beautiful, it is also permanently raining, grey and slightly dark
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil (From A Different Angle)
Gorgeous! It looks like a river of gold has splashed down the valley
If Rio can connect a bunch of valleys together into one cohesive city, there's no reason for the isolation and lack of services in the hollows of West Virginia...except for the uncaring politicians they keep voting to represent them, who then do absolutely nothing for their constituents.
Or we could just admire this beautiful scenery and appreciate it? I mean go ahead with your unnecessary political rant if you choose but I prefer to enjoy the beauty in life. It's okay to just enjoy things and much less invasive. I wish you well:)

I hate to say it, but that seems like a very complicated LEGO church.
Lhasa, Tibet
Was there in 2019. I really liked it. Such amazing history there.
What history? That of the murder and oppression of the Tibetan people?
Load More Replies...Strange. I always pictured Lhasa's Potala Palace as out in a total wilderness. Nothing like what's in the foreground.
What the Chinese have done to Lhasa and to the Tibetan people is an atrocity.
Probably the most iconic skyline is considered the one of the Windy City, Chicago. The ten-story Home Insurance Building in Chicago, built in 1884–1885 is considered by many to be the first skyscrapers in the world. It’s not that tall by today’s standards as it’s 42.1 meters (138 feet) tall, but then it was record-setting.
Chicago’s most famous skyscraper is the 110-story Willis Tower, still commonly referred to as the Sears Tower. It’s 442 meters (1,450 feet) and adds to the beautiful skyline with Lake Michigan lying behind it.
Happy New Year! Moscow, Russia
Moscow if probably one of my favorite cities because of that building
Dresden, Germany
Dresden was never on out bucket list, but so glad we went. It is beautiful and different, especially if you know the history( look it up, it's worth the read). The people are very nice too, and their opera is amazing. We went to see West Side Story there, and that was how we ended up visiting the city.
My mom lived in Heidelberg in the 60s for about 6 years. She LOVED Dresden. I think she bought the entire country's stockpile of Dresden figurines they had hoped to sell to the masses. Nope I think she and my dad just went on a bender. SMH

It's amazing for it to look like this, considering most of the city was bombed into the Stone Age during WWII.
Bern, Switzerland
In summer, you’re allowed to swim in this river too (and you can swim pretty close to the Bern bear pit)
Load More Replies...I normally do not like natural stuff , but this photograph displays a harmony between the medieval and modern infrastructure along with an incredible nature....-) It reminds a little of Senji Croatia where I was born that medieval style architecture .
Lived in Bern for a while, just loved it. Such a lovely city.
Skyscrapers are a big part of the city skyline. The most well-known skylines often are in cities with tall buildings and that have some sort of body of water nearby. In this list there are cityscapes with both taller and shorter buildings. It seems that people really like night images, probably because of the light effects.
These are the best submissions to the subreddit for you to enjoy. Tell us which cityscapes marveled you the most and don’t forget to upvote the images that you liked the better!
Suspension Railway In Wuppertal, Germany
Vintage and current filming side by side https://youtu.be/7TqqdOcX4dc
Load More Replies...Been there, its even more amazing because a huge part of this bahn goes over a river! you can see fishes floating if you look down.
A wee bit of wholesome for the serial commentors - my Grandma was born in Wuppertal but after moving to the UK during WW2, she spoke very little about her homeland and all of her important documents were largely destroyed during raids on Berlin. Miraculously, after a long time searching - we were able to locate Wuppertal as her birthplace because of a story a second cousin of my uncle heard her telling of how she used to love riding the 'flying trains' We are now very close to finding her mother, and an apparently comprehensive Polish contingent of the family ❤️
Beautiful Night View Of Lombard Street, San Francisco
When I lived in San Francisco, I had unsuspecting fiends, who had never been to San Francisco before, drive down "the crooked street in the world." They squealed with surprise and delight. And drove it again and again!
Does anybody know the price of the apartments in Lombard Street? Price or rent, anything?
You're only allowed to go down it at like 5 miles an hour, super slow.

Skating To Toronto
Wow! Can you really do that? Even if it is possible I couldn’t do it, I skate like a robot that’s desperate for a wee.
This is a fluke... Generally with the exception of the bay of quinte and some smaller harbours, the lake does not fully freeze over, it's simply too big. And even if it does, I would not want to skate on it. I live in the area, and am also an ice fisherman, and would never feel safe on that ice.
My friends who live on the island do that thing where you skate holding onto a sail apparatus. There are areas that freeze up better than others.
Load More Replies...Its a view from one of the Toronto Islands, skater is likely close to shore. The rest of the"ice" is blurred because it's likely not actually frozen.
OmG how cool is that ! That is a dream come true ! Is that a synthetic ice ?
I call fake. Zoomed in it doesn't look like ice, there's a 'hole' in front of him, and a weird crack.
New York City. What An Amazing Image
Looks like a post-apocalyptical world with New York covered in ash.
Damn, I knew Central Park was massive, but this really puts it into perspective.
It really shows the quality and depth of the bedrock in this shot.

A Foggy Day In Dubai
Been there.. Actually it is kinda boring.. Only skyscrapers with pricey stuff..
They know they're going to run out of oil eventually, so are probably hoping to turn themselves into a tourist attraction while they still have the money to do so.
Amazing how the clouds are flowing over and between the buildings on the right like some great tidal wave.
I wonder why you only said that here. Apparently some European arms exporting countries to Middle Eastern dictators didn't have a single negative comment here but Dubai brings out the bigotry from the so called progressive world. Islamophobic much? Well I already know the answer to that one.

That one building is in about 90% of the photos of the Quarter, I believe. Clearly, this photo is taken in the morning right after the cleaning crews have removed the "gravy" from the gutters and before a new accumulation has had a chance to be deposited. (Yes, that's what it's called! Just don't ask what's in it {::shudder::}!
Ever since AHS I immediately think of Miss Delphine Lalaurie stuck under the pavement!
As soon as I saw this photo the song When the Saints Go Marching In Mardi Gras Jazz Band style played in my head. You can hear the music as soon as you see the scenes of this amazing place.

I remember decades ago when where I lived experienced a blackout. I had just gone grocery shopping a day or two before, so my refrigerator was full and happy. 24hrs after the blackout, I began to Pro & Con what I would stuff my face with and what I would get rid of. To homeless if possible. Fortunately, that's when electricity came back on. "Dodged a bullet there."

Meticulously planned but I wouldn't say well planned. Very few shared/open spaces for example.

Well, sometimes it's overcrowding and other times it's just good use of space. We should be building more densely more of the time; we use far more resources per person when we're all spread out.

Venice was built on a very small territory because it is not one mass of land but many small islands. It has public and private gardens, but nothing occupying lots of square metres.

All of Stephen Wilkes most famous photos use a similar technique to merge images of a scene taken at different seasons or times of day. Perhaps it's an acquired taste.

Nothing great about this. Horrible land management, colonialism and unsustainable urbanism in one picture.

Toronto From My Airbnb
I remember when I was little, driving in from the West end of the city you could tell if the Skydome (I refuse to say Rogers Center) was opened or closed from like Mississauga. Now you can't tell until you're right beside it with all the condos
That is a pretty city. You can clearly see the skyline (CN, Skydome, the million Canadian banks) from clear across Lake Ontario and it is pretty fantastic.

Where's all the traffic? I've never seen downtown Chicago with no traffic -- how odd!
LaSalle Street dead ends in front of the Board of Trade building, which is where the photographer is taking this picture. It looks like this on Sat-Sun, and anytime past 8pm. It's far south in the Loop and not much goes on there after hours. A few blocks to the east, the west and north it's busy...but in this spot, it's not. It Hurts How Beautiful This City Is. NYC
I'd amend the caption to say there are tons of beautiful spots in NYC, but by contrast much of the city is crowded and dirty.
Sure, cities look neat at times - but growing up in small towns has spoiled me. Real beauty (for myself) has a lot of nature.
I love this kind of photo series! I live in in a city in western Germany with not much nature around. These photos show how many beautiful spots on earth exist, thank you for everyone sharing these pictures.
Enough pics of Toronto, NYC, and Chicago? As an Ontarian I enjoy Toronto, but there should be pictures of Quebec City. Amazing place.
I missed seeing pictures of Southern California... No Los Angeles skyline???
Load More Replies...Everything looks fabulous. But now let,s talk about smell: not in the perfumy, bathroom freshener sense but in the sense of revitalizing your entire being by taking in a huge breath of something vital. That is how the first Europeans to set foot in the Americas described the smell of the land. They had simply forgotten what clean air feels like.
I really like small European cities like Durham, Ripon, Lincoln or Périgueux.
Different countries in Africa are modernizing and developing beautiful cityscapes. It will just take a while.
