Let Me Show You The Beauty Of The Baltic Sea Which I’ve Captured Throughout 10 Years (32 Pics)
Sea can be in different moods. This is what I wanted to photograph: its calm and its anger.
I am a photographer living by the Baltic Sea. That sea is considered by many people to be uninteresting. I think that’s not true. I like getting out of bed before dawn, going to the sea, watching and photographing. And every time I am convincing myself that the Baltic Sea is a beautiful sea! At any time of the year, in any weather, it shows many of its faces: calm and quiet, angry and dynamic. Romantic and noisy. Cold as ice and hot as fire.

The ocean has its mood. I remembered standing in the hangar bay on the USS Theodore Roosevelt in 2015 and seeing this smoky looking sight. It was so surreal. Like something out of a horror movie.
Yes, the sea can be totally surreal :)

I was born far from the sea, I moved here when I was 19. My first steps in photography were quite common: people, flowers, simple landscapes etc. A couple of years later I started to photograph the sea in Gdańsk, where I live. I also started discovering that the sea can have various moods. So the answer is: yes, living by the sea helped me in my personal photography development.
You have been drinking too much coffee lately, Thor! Try some chamomile tea instead.
Nope, it's pier in Gdynia, ~10km north

Thanks! This is an old Nazi torpedo research facility.

Personally, I prefer all other seasons, when the Baltic Sea shows all its moods. It can be calm like a lake or angry like an ocean. When winter comes, it also can be frozen by the shores, because it isn't a deep sea. There's a lot of wild places on the Baltic shores and I think it may be a main difference between it and many of the seas and oceans worldwide.
I am so sure digital media is not doing justice to the original image. Its beautiful
The light is fantastic! You're very talented -- and have a terrific photographic subject!

My gear: Canon 6D body, usually a couple of lens: Canon 17-40L, Canon 70-200L, Tamron 150-600, Manfrotto 055 PRO tripod and a pack of NiSi and Lee filters.
I'm pretty sure we don't have chairs just chilling in the sea. Most of the time at least.
Well maybe this is one of these totally chilled out chairs :)

Well, I'd like to realize some of my secret plans. In the nearest future, I wanna continue my project of photographing a particular place near Gdańsk in all 4 seasons. I have two and two remaining, so in winter I'm gonna make the third part of this small project.
I can smell the fresh salty sea air just looking at this. So beautiful.
Was this taken during summer at night or during winter late morning or early afternoon?
So gorgeous and calming-- I love the gradation of colours.

"ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS EXCEPT EUROPA. ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE."
I could but maybe I don't want to :)

It can help create movement or blur within a particular image. It can create beautiful and otherworldly effects using a slow shutter on a body of water like the ocean, lake, or a waterfall.
Load More Replies...Just come to Gdynia some day :)
Load More Replies...well they look big on this pic, but in real they are quite small :)

Load More Replies...I am so amazed how you captured sunrise/sunset just above the water line!! The pink waves! The red ice! Wonderful.
Lovely pics. Does it ever get warm there? In the UK we use a term "Baltic" meaning very cold.
Thank you! Most of the year it's rather cold or very cold but in the summer it's warm, you can easily swim
