Editing has given us the power to do all kinds of things with images. We can make photographs look better, or change the features of people's faces. Most importantly, we can use editing software to create funny and silly images to brighten people's moods and make our friends laugh.

That's exactly what this digital artist Aditya Aryanto uses his hard-earned skills to do. He takes animals and turns them into cubes for fun. The creatures look like they just escaped the video game Minecraft. The artist named the series Anicube or Animal + Cube. Aditya uses Photoshop to do these edits and let's just say the results are quite ridiculous and sometimes even realistic-looking. Here's part one of the series.

Schroedinger asked if the cat was alive or dead in the box. But this cat IS the box.

Anyone else feel this should be Dumbledore's familiar? (I'm not sure why.)

We got an interview from Aditya Aryanto and asked him what the main goal of his illustrations is: "I actually just wanted to fill my spare time to be able to work and share with friends via Instagram. I am very happy when they can enjoy my work, and I continue to do so to this day."

Aditya tells us how he got into art: "Initially I knew Instagram as a free photo-sharing platform, and I tried to share my work on Instagram, and there were so many artists that amazed me and it spurred me to be able to adapt and work the same way they do. As time went on, I saw more and more references to work from more professional artists on Behance. It really spoiled my eyes! I consume a lot of art through Behance, and it helps me to improve my taste."

that's right... walk away... squaredy cat!

The artist shares what the most difficult part of creating these illustrations is: "Looking for stock photos because I'm not a photographer. So I only rely on free image provider websites such as Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay. I have to be observant there to find the right angle for me to edit it into a box shape. I like editing any animal, as long as the angle of the photo matches the angle I want! but I really like furry animals, especially cats."

In Soviet, Russia, cats swallows boxes | no harsh meanings here, just an internet meme, have a nice day!

"I started creating these edits at the beginning of 2017 and I will continue to do them to fill my spare time. I think I really enjoy my creative process with animals as the main objects because they are very funny and have character. And I really like the bright color tones, natural look, and looks more like a photo (not like an edit)."

Aditya shares what inspires him to keep moving forward with his art: "Fellow artists, they are very productive in their work. I want to be like them. The response from my friends regarding my work also makes me very satisfied and makes me want to give more to them as connoisseurs of my work. And to be honest, I'm very dissatisfied here. I will continue to work again until I die."

Here is some advice from the artist: "Be yourself, don't be discouraged by what you produce now. All works have their own audience. Before number 2, there must be a process to go through number 1. So you have to keep going! Enjoy the process you are going through."

Aditya tells us more about himself: "At first I liked taking pictures using my cellphone, and after that, there was an editing process, so from there I often edited photos using my cellphone because I don't have a laptop. I was in 3rd grade at that time. After that, I uploaded my photos on Instagram and got various responses. From there I started to see a lot of good visuals from people who are professionals in their fields. I wanted to continue my study in Visual Communication Design, but I suffer from partial color blindness, so I couldn't enter that course. Finally, I decided to work as a prewedding and wedding photo editor. After being bored, I did an internship at an advertising agency for 3 months, and now I feel what I wanted all along. From just a hobby and now a job. I learned a lot of new things here. From all that, I'm sure that all the efforts I made to get to this point were not in vain. I am very lucky to have met many great people who have accompanied me to the point where I am now."
