Almost a third of the summer has passed. Ouch. We need something to balance out such devastating news. So, Bored Panda has compiled a new list of adorable animal adoption photos, not only restoring everyone's faith in humanity but allowing us to forget that the nights are beginning to get longer and longer. Darn it, I did it again, haven't I?
Anyway, this month, people are continuing to visit animal shelters in search of new family members and take home neglected critters that need love the most. From three-legged dogs to one-eyed kitties, every soul deserves a second chance at life, and it's really heartwarming to see that they're getting it.
Continue scrolling to get your monthly dose of smiles and if you need more, check out these cuties that people rescued in May, April, March, February, and January as well.

We Adopted Kane About A Month Ago. We Don’t Know Much About His Background Or His Age, But He Is Around 10-12. He Is Nearly Deaf And Blind. He Is Very Sweet And Just Likes To Sleep All Day And Likes Going Outside. He Is A Good Boy
Thank you for adopting this sweet senior floof. The world needs more folks like you!
As you probably know, recently human rights protests have spread across the United States and around the world. Many pet owners also want to do their part and express their opinions, but while some animals are better used to staying at home for longer periods of time, others -- most notably, dogs -- can't. So their humans take them to the protests with them. While doggos are really good companions to demand justice with, there are a few very important things people should keep in mind when doing so.
Adopted Pit Can't Stop Hugging His New Owner
"All dogs are individuals with their own personalities and dispositions,"Kelly DiCicco, Manager, Adoptions Promotions at the ASPCA Adoption Center told Bored Panda. "When bringing your dog anywhere there will be different sights and sounds, as well as crowds, it's important to consider their comfort level with new experiences in the past."
"Large gatherings or events can be confusing or upsetting to pets who may also become frightened or disoriented by loud noises," DiCicco warned. "You may want to leave your pet at home where you can ensure they feel safe and relaxed. If your dog will be outside with you, be sure to keep them leashed, give them plenty of fresh water and don’t let them linger on hot asphalt for too long. Being so close to the ground, your dog’s body can heat up quickly, and sensitive paw pads can burn."
After Two Weeks Of Dwelling Under The Bed Or Random Furniture As A Rescue, He Finally Considered Its Safe To Sit In My Lap And Gave Me This Look
But no matter what animal you're adopting, it is unquestionably the right thing to do. About 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, roughly 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. Luckily, according to ASPCA estimates, the number of dogs and cats entering U.S. shelters annually has declined from approximately 7.2 million in 2011.
If you want to contribute to freeing up valuable shelter space and resources for other animals in need, you can find general adoption tips or a local shelter in your area at ASPCA.
2 Months After Adopting An Older Cat I Still Can’t Figure Out Why Anyone Wouldn’t Want This Big Bag Of Love
Such a big yummy cat! No one would willingly give them up. The owner may have passed away or gone into a nursing home. We've designated our pets future homes for when anything happens to us.

Beware, my friend. The most dangerous tail in the world belongs to a happy pitbull. It will get your shins EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Awww Lab tails are pretty good too.....but they go for the balls.... theyre taller
Load More Replies...Pit bulls are like people, some are nice and some are mean. The way they act is on how they were raised or by their past. But I still haven't met a pitbull I don't love :)
There is a dog just right for almost everyone. You and she are a love match..
The only time I was "attacked" by a Pitbull was one time when I was outside. It spotted me, ran over, and try to lick me to death. I don't remember if I had ever seen such a happy/gentle Dog.
It is sad, in the past, some morons trained a pit to be vicious, they are born, as all pups, playful and loving, thankfully people are learning, a pit like any breed, is how it is raised !!!
Animals feel and KNOW a person's energy and if it feels love towards it .
I don’t care about the breed as long as they are friendly and snuggly I love them 😍 😍😍😍
My nieces have a Great Dane, (well two Great Danes) who when she was little busted her tail open wagging it and banging it against the wall. For about a year after it would do that every time she hit the wall with her tail. It's okay now but really scared them for a while.
What a wonderful addition to your family. So happy for you and this wonderful dog.
Only dangerous part of them, as someone already commented, are their tails! They are such beautiful, loveable dogs, with a painful whip of a tail if you get hit with it the wrong way ♡
People forget. They are intrinsically just a dog. How they are trained is what gives them a bad rap!
I love Pitties and I don't mean to be "that guy," but this is Alpha behavior from the dog. The one in charge gets to be on top. It's adorable, but it should be corrected, not encouraged. Pitties who think they're the boss are a danger to themselves and others.
Oh, is it like that with dogs in general or just Pitbulls? I really don't like them in general but I suppose it's mostly because of their bad training. People get them as status dogs, at least here in Sweden (I don't mean that the OP is like that).
Load More Replies...I love pitties and I swear I'm not trying to be "that guy," but for dogs laying on top is a sign of dominance. This adorable sweetie is showing you he's Alpha, which is not good for you or for him. It's adorable, yes, but it should be corrected, not encouraged.
Ppl are afraid of them because of the bad rap..but they are really big babies who think they are lap dogs..love the pit in my life❤️..PS ...they have the best smiles
pitbull is the sweetest thing in this world.... we don't deserve them
It all depends on their training. They are by nature one of the most loving loyal breed types.
I have never been afraid of a pitbull. This has been my experience too. Lots of bark but, once they sort you out, you are loved for life.
Our half pitbull is happily snoozing right next to me on the sofa.
People should understand that Pitbulls are considered dangerous not just "because they have a bad name", but because they potential of hurting people or other pets very badly. It's just about the power these dogs have, not how nice they are. Dogs are dogs, and sometimes even the nicest of the dogs can snap or get scared and attack. Is not the sabe being bitten by an enraged labrador than an enraged pitbull. Get real.
That's c**p. They don't even have the strongest bite out there. And you know very well all these pit bull haters ALWAYS go on about how pit bulls just "snap", that they can never be trusted, blah blah blah. And it's all nonsense. By nature, these dogs love people more than any other breed I can think of. Yeah, IF they are made vicious, they can do a lot of damage. But so can other big breeds. And making pit bulls aggressive towards people is actually extremely hard. They were bred to be dog aggressive, but especially NOT people aggressive.

My daughter and her bf recently adopted a kitty that no one else wanted because he's FIV positive and has part of his tail missing. His name is Onni (finnish for luck)he is 6 months old and he is settling right in after only two weeks! I got to meet him yesterday and he's so soft! He also loves to cuddle so much my daughter can't get anything done :)
Oh, we had an FIV+ cat and he had a long, happy life. He was a big sweetie. Congratulations on adopting Onni!

Agree 100 % with Steve. The heartbreaking truth is that for every caring person there are masses of indifferent, apathetic people everywhere in the world who enable evil, subhuman monsters to heinously torture and murder innocent, sentient beings.... this is only reason why humans are unable not only co-exist in peace but, by their cruel, atrocious way of life, are also destroying their own existence. If you love your children teach them compassion to animals, ALL animals - not just pick and choose - they all are sentient beings - that's only way out: restoring faith in humanity - long way to go. "Anyone who has no feelings for animals has a dead heart."

Always go for adoption. It will be the best experience of your life. At least it was for me. My dog is my best friend and very very sweet. I think they somehow know you saved them. Also...advocate for no kill shelters!
In a very, very small part of the world, sad. Don't stop till all animals are safe and only then there will be peace for us all.
Load More Replies...This is just pure joy, i was beaming at them all, as someone who volunteers at shelters i makes me so happy seeing them go off and find their new homes but especially when the seniors get adopted, nothing makes me happier than seeing an old boy and girl get a comfy sofa to live out their lives in peace. Thanks to everyone who has adopted.
Thank you for all you do for animals, AnimalMetalHeadUK!!!!!
