I find these photographs most wonderful. I must comment though about the comment concerning weight.--I happen to be an ectomorph and as Grace Jones would say very aerodynamic in design. I have very little body fat. Not all of us thin folk are anorexic. Three years ago I purchased a car after not having one for 40 years and used my bike, public transportation or walked to and fro to work--ten miles round trip. So at 60 years of age I have retained my very lean body. Sorry but the comment concerning weight and drugs hit a nerve. We all have different body types--embrace them.

Wow - it was the Free kids in the movie Woodstock in 1970 that inspired me to start a family! I wanted to raise a hippie kid!! Nowadays social services would be all over this - charging multiple families with neglect, child endangerment, etc etc !!!

I would have loved to seen Janis perform. She died 2 years after I was born. I believe she was a great influence, maybe the greatest, on women garnering respect as musicians. Before her, and I don't mean disrespect, we had sweet singers who were good girls that adhered to the absolute role of females who get married and stay home to have children like Doris Day, Janis proved that women could rock out as much if not more than men.

That's my girl from Port Arthur, Tx! We are proud to have had her from our area!

I've been wearing the Janis look for 45 years now. I've got the long hair, big sunglasses, the beads, and several tie dyes. I love 'em. My friends tell me Janis reminds them of me!

I wore all of the above...just through in my fringed stove pipe geans or my Flared geans and a dozen strings of love beads and chokers. Toss in a long fringed brown leather jacket and some jesus boots!

I had the slave bracelets the lace-up boots headbands armbands I had the silk pants the girl on the right is wearing well those were days that will never be forgotten

Peasant blouses are comfortable and cool to wear in the summer. I love them!

Breast were nature and the at the time some did wear bras as a political statement against the USA government. At least her breasts are not made of plastic!
