Hurricane Irma is already larger, stronger, and potentially more fatal than Harvey - and it's not over yet.
Irma has sent the Caribbean and several southern States into crisis mode after reportedly destroying '95 percent' of Saint-Martin, Barbuda, and the British Virgin Islands. Millions of people have been left stranded and homeless with no access to water, electricity or phone service, and at least 10 are dead. The Bahamas and Cuba are bracing for a similarly devastating impact, as is the State of Florida, which is currently being completely evacuated.
Scroll down to see chilling photos of the damage caused by the harrowing storm so far, and if you are in an area at risk of being affected, heed all warnings by relevant authorities and make your way to a safe place. If you would like to help, find more info here.

People Evacuating Their Chickens
I have heard that chickens are very cool, they have distinct personalities and make great pets...I'm glad these guys are being taken care of
Load More Replies...I was in south Texas waiting for Harvey, we put the chickens in the bed of the truck with some wood shavings (it had a camper shell). But this idea is brilliant!
It sure is brilliant. I wrap cats like a burrito for mess but never occurred to wrap a chicken. Wrap a chicken seems to make me giggle😂🤣😂
Load More Replies...These are pet chickens, not food, so your comment is disgusting.
Load More Replies...Yep! And less likely to be able to hurt themselves by flying in panic
Load More Replies...Is this how to keep chickens in line when traveling ? I once saw a goat put in a car trunk.
I just put my goats in the back of my van. They don't travel enough to justify the expense of an animal trailer and they've never pooped in my van, so this works as far as I'm concerned.

Bizarre Scene Along The Coast Of Saint Martin After Roofs Were Torn Off Houses And Blown Off In To The Streets
Seems odd the roofs landed upright after blowing off. I wonder if the structures holding them up actually collapsed sideways, rather than the roofs blowing off.
Thats exactly what happened. The structures collapsed
Load More Replies...Actually they weren't blown off at all. Those building lacked lateral support. The roofs are probably about 8' from where they used to be, the buildings all collapsed quite neatly.
Can you say "Hurricane Clips". Shame on the builder of these houses for not using hurricane clips in a hurricane zone!

Pretty sure the original photo is from the 70s

if hurricanes get energy from warm seas why not tow big chunks of ice from the artic and place them near PuertoRico or the leeward islands.
That would cost too much fuel and take up too much time . The ice cubes would just melt into more warm water due to the climate of the carribean

Big freaking whoop, the shelves are empty that means everyone bought all the water, the title of this said pictures that prove just how bad hurricane Irma really was, none of these pictures are even that bad at all, hotels are still standing while after Katrina the casinos were knocked off the foundation and Blown across the street, mainly all I'm really seeing in these pictures just looks like allot of cleaning up, it doesn't really look like anything really needs to be rebuilt, after Katrina it took YEARS just to get all the dead bodies up and some of the cleaning to be done. I'm glad everyone is basically okay but this hurricane was not all that bad at all

i hope the dolphins are finally back where they belong: free and in the ocean!
The problem is these dolphins cannot fend for themselves in the wild as they are used to human care and they are not even from this ocean, so they wouldn't fit in with their kind. One might hope they would have stuck around so that they can be put back but as someone who has worked with them it would be better if they were free even if a short time rather than go back to a life of giving humans rides for food. This place will probably go back and buy more dolphins, creating more demand and slaughter in Taiji. It should be outlawed!
Load More Replies...Do you realize that they didn't actually keep dolphins, the attraction took people out onto the ocean to see dolphins. I don't understand why you have to be so rude even in a time of tragedy.
so glad you said this! I was actually genuinely worried about the welfare of the dolphins!
Load More Replies...Probably better for the animals if they could escape! Resorts like these that keep dolphins as attractions just fuel the fire that is the Taiji dolphin hunt!
I feel no pity for a place that holds captive dolphins mere feet from the ocean where they should be. I hope it was completely destroyed.
They messed with the color so it makes the bottom picture look worse than it actually is
More like the color on the first one were doctored to be more attractive to tourists. The bottom one look like it's been taken without taking the time to adjust the camera for the shot (like most people do).
