With so many discussions about why women don't choose to work in male-dominated fields, one reason often gets overlooked. Frequently women who end up working a job surrounded only by men experience all sorts of diminishing behavior from their colleagues. The lack of respect, harassment, and blatant sexism hold women back from taking jobs in any male-dominated industry. Recently a Twitter user asked women to share their experiences while working only with men. This thread perfectly highlights the problem women face while trying their strengths in 'boys club' workplaces. Scroll below to read them!

How degrading. Horrible men automatically think women cannot perform "men" tasks

It isn't always the men. I was standing at a yardage counter with several other women. A man walked in behind us. The female clerk looked right over our heads and asked how she could help him. Nice to feel invisible.

that's insane. what do men know about yardage?! (obviously, everything if you ask them, but if you ask women?)

I use the "boy" term whenever someone drops a "girl" comment. Pisses me off.

Only when it's a condescending one. "Hey girl, what's up?" doesn't offend me at all, but "Hey girl! Can you get over here and lend a hand?!" drives me up the wall.

When they do something for you, rub them behind the ear and say "good boy!"

I've done that! A male coworker pissed me off so I started calling him my "good little boy" or sometimes "sweet little boy" whenever we met. To really confuse him and to make sure he didn't think I was in love with him or something I changed my voice when I said it. Like, I could say "Oh you're a good boy!" in a type of voice and tone that I would use to speak to a puppy. That voice...... He was in his 50's, I was like 31 at the time and it ended with him avoiding me more and more til I never saw him or even heard from him again 😈

I would have reported himfor being disrespectful to a coworker in view of patients or clients. But the time will come when he does that, and you can say, oh don’t worry about him, that boy has a lot to learn yet. He’s sweet and tries really hard.

Really? How often do men “mansplain” to each other? I just know guys do that to women constantly. It’s been done to me so many times, I gave up trying to keep track of it.... Sometimes they don’t even know what they are talking about and just spout false information.

You have to be careful. I was working at Chase when they hired on a guy I had worked with previously. He was let go from his former job for pulling a chef's knife out of his briefcase and coming at someone. I went to HR. But because there was no absolute proof, they told me I couldn't warn people. I could get fired for that. I left an anonymous note in his bosses mailbox. Risked my job to warn him, but it seemed like a good risk / reward at the time.

I was in school in 7th grade and this (a*****e, sexist, etc) guy repeated the same thing that my (female) friend said, and the teacher said what a great idea it was. I raised my hand and said "Cristina actually said that first." The teacher told me to not disrespect her classroom.

It would be great to film it and report it to the police or smth, then they can't deny it

I can tell you having been a young pretty manager, people (Middle aged men) gave me a hard time, but you learn how to rise above it.

A male coworker called me bossy.. I told him he wouldn't call me bossy if I had a penis. That made the boys in the room super uncomfortable and I basked in that discomfort.

It doesn't matter whether you're into men or not, that comment is unsolicited and really creepy either way.

You should have done as he asked and let him talk to a man who could not schedule an appointment.
