Hairstylist Shares 30 Women Who Took The Risk Of Cutting Their Hair Short And Got Awesome Results (New Pics)
Many of us women have been taught to define our worth in terms of our femininity, which is then used to gauge our attractiveness, which then affects how much we value ourselves as people. Unsettlingly important in this is hair.
Hair often defines the rigid gender norms; however, as we head into a new decade, many women feel like leaving all of this behind. If you believe that having long hair only adds to the pressure of needing to be attractive enough to meet social expectations, cut it short. Cut off your long hair if you're sick of maintaining it to appease others. Being a version of oneself that society accepts is not our responsibility, and that's exactly why hairstylist Kristina Katsabina takes it upon herself to give her clients short hairstyles based on their preferences and style.

In an earlier interview with Bored Panda, Kristina gave us some insight into the short hair trend as a whole and provided some about her client preferences.
"A lot of women in their 30s are either working in a field they do not like or they have lost all of their inspiration to keep moving forward. It happened to me too; at some point, I lost all of my motivation to keep moving forward and deepen my knowledge when it came to my profession at the time. Before becoming a full-time hairstylist, I was teaching Spanish and also worked as a translator and choreographer."

If they had made her bangs just a tad longer, it would be more attractive; she's a lovely person. I just prefer longer hair than pixie short.

This is my favorite so far, a total glow-up. Nothing wrong with long hair, parted in the middle, etc. but it wasn't "doing" anything. Now it's got some personality and style, totally dig it.

Pretty sure her bangs are already cut to almost the hairline. Looks like she may have done the SUPER short blunt bangs at one point and for whatever reason decided to cut them shorter. Definitely agree with your idea though

It's a great feeling not to be afraid to change your hair to something totally different, as many times as you want. Luckily it grows & we can do it lots of times. So often we get stuck in one style & become overly attached to it, as if it security & self confidence lives in it. It SO doesn't. It feels freeing to make a big change in color or style & realize that you're still you & that your confidence, power & security never abided in your hair & those feelings have increased! It somehow gives a feeling of power. Especially with a short cut, so much less fuss time with drying & styling. You realize just how much of a pain in the neck all that was. Too often we become slavishly dedicated to the whole process. A good short cut makes getting ready in the morning into a couple minutes, sweet!

i'd like to see what they told these women before they were considered for this. seems like don't wash your hair for a couple of days, just get rid of your bedhead but don't do any styling, greasy/messy would actually be a plus. not impressed overall with the new haircuts. obviously the same stylist for all.

That's what I was thinking. All of the comments that say these women look butch, it makes them more comfortable with who they are. It's the same reason why I chopped my hair off when I was 14. Haven't looked back, and am more like myself because of it.

Only problem is having short hair is expensive. You have to go get it trimmed every few weeks to keep it looking good in this economy I would rather keep my long hair and my money.

only if you're concerned with maintaining a specific cut. i periodically buzz my entire head with the 1/4 inch guard on the clippers and just let it grow out until it starts getting in my eyes. it always looks great and i get compliments on it at all the various stages of growth!

I'm just happy they didn't add a ton of makeup. Some cuts looked really good, some not so great. Short cuts tend to make women look edgy or older. It's hard to find an in betwrrn
