“Am I Gross, Yes Or No?”: Woman’s Controversial Showering Habits Spark Heated Debate On TikTok

Allison McCarthy, who creates online content on lifestyle and personal finance, recently posted a TikTok video explaining why she believes that showering twice a week is perfectly normal, and it made the platform’s users rethink their hygiene habits.

The 27-year-old from Boston joked that she is a gross human being. “This is because, most girls, when they say that they wash their hair twice a week, they literally mean wash their hair, and they shower every day,” she said, adding that, “I only shower, like once or twice a week. I’ve gone like five days without showering before.”

Content creator Allison McCarthy has stunned social media by revealing that she only showers when she wants to wash her hair

Which is usually twice a week

McCarthy explained her reasoning in one of her TikToks

And it quickly went viral

Allison herself has been very surprised about the popularity of her showering video. “I didn’t have that many followers when I posted it so I wasn’t expecting that many people to see it or comment on it,” she told Daily Mail.

“I didn’t realize so many people would have such a strong opinion about it. I had a lot of people reach out and message me privately and tell me that they were happy that I spoke about it and that they weren’t alone. I was happy that I could make others not feel so ashamed or bad about themselves.”

The TikTok ignited a heated discussion on personal hygiene

Soon, McCarthy made a follow-up video, addressing a particular comment

To her haters, McCarthy added: “I would say, be a little more compassionate to people. You have no idea what someone is going through and how an ‘easy’ everyday task for you may not be for someone else.”

“Often not showering is linked to depression or mental illness and it’s hard to even take care of yourself. Also, everyone’s body is different too. I know some people who never have to wear deodorant and don’t smell,” the content creator highlighted.

“There were people saying they have skin conditions such as eczema and showering every day dries their skin out. Just be a little kinder and understanding, don’t just assume certain things about someone.”

After receiving abuse, Allison purchased a shower cap and posted a video of her wearing the shower accessory, but she said she hasn’t used it yet.

She highlighted that there must be a stigma surrounding this topic

While many people were shocked by her confession

According to experts, showering every day could, in fact, be bad for your skin. Some dermatologists actually do recommend a shower every other day, or two to three times a week.

However, many people hit the shower at least once a day, either in the morning or at night before bed. Depending on the day and their activity level, some might even take two or three showers.

While there’s no arguing the importance of personal hygiene, the reality is that in many cases showering doesn’t have to be a part of your daily routine.

If you bathe too often, it can potentially strip your skin of essential oils. This causes dryness, which can lead to skin inflammation or eczema. Your skin may feel itchy and may crack, flake, and become red.

If you have a skin condition like psoriasis, more than one shower per day might even trigger a flare-up. Additionally, too many showers may rinse away good bacteria from your skin, putting you at risk for infections.

But showering too little can also trigger an imbalance of good and bad bacteria on your skin. Too much bad bacteria on your skin also puts you at risk for skin infections. This may cause dermatitis neglecta, where patches of plaque develop on the skin due to inadequate cleansing.

Bathing also removes dead skin cells; when you don’t bathe enough, these cells can stick to your skin and cause hyperpigmentation.

As with many things in life, the key is to learn what works for you personally.

And some questioned why is there such a fuss in the first place

Maybe I see this differently because I‘m from Europe…. But I think showering every day is overkill. Every two days is more than enough. Maybe less. Edit: of course it‘s normal to shower daily if you have a physically demanding job or do sports.

I would say not everyone has the same life, so, if you workout everyday, shower daily; if you live in a hot humid place, shower daily; if you start to smell, shower; if flies start to call you 'mommy', shower. But if not, no need to, to some people not showering can be good for their skin.

You do realize that it's possible to take a shower without washing you hair, right?? I mean, you can just rinse your body or cover your hair with shower cap. I don't think not wanting to wash your hair is a legit reason not to shower

My hair is too long and thick to go under a shower cap. I wash my hair once a week.i hate having wet hair. I hate the blow dryer and i get pins and needles in my arms just styling my hair. I do tie my hair up real high and use the shower head by hand so I can point the spray away from my head though

It is interesting to learn about how people live their lives, lol though, that could be the anthropologist in me. I try to take a shower and wash my hair twice weekly. I have super long hair and doing it more than that is just too time consuming (washing AND drying). Obviously, this number changes if I'm super sweaty (working out, summer) or going on a date.

I generally shower daily unless I'm mega tired but I also have super long hair down to the back of my knees so I get only washing it once or twice a week. It's a big chore.

Speaking from a medical perespective? At least get your "pits and bits" daily ----- armpits & groin (and that other stuff down yonder). You feel fresher, you have less issues of body odor, and, quite frankly, you're less likely to get some infections. YOu don't have to scrub down with pumice, but the amount of skin issues resolved by a daily wash? (Note: Not a shower, just a basin bath/sponge bath.) You'd be shocked. Just wipe down with a wet cloth aside from soap-cleaning the pits-and-bits. OK? Just don't .... just don't. (BTW, before people argue that showering irritates skin? What are people using to clean themselves? Plainest possible soap and water is all that's required. No scrubbers/etc. unless you are covered in something that has to be scrubbed off. if you worry about water? Take a Navy shower: Soap up, then rinse for 60 seconds.)

I have extremely dry skin, so I shower twice a week (and wash hair). I do wash pits n bits daily. But if I shower more often, my skin sheds like I'm a snake. And no, lotion doesn't work because then I feel dirty. In summer I swim a lot in the lakes, that does not harm my skin. But winters are minus 20 so.. no lakes.

It depends massively on climate and personal skin type! When I lived in Wales in the winter I would only wash twice a week. When I lived in Japan during the summer, I was having 3 cold showers a day.

In Japan in the summer I'd be soaked through just walking two flights down to the street. Mutiple daily showers and twice daily change of clothes. In a Canadian winter? Twice a week, and mostly for the warm up factor.

Not everyone can shower daily, though. For example; I have physical disabilities that require me to have assistance (with one of my sisters helping, as she’s a registered carer). When we’re not doing the shower & getting my hair washed, I have to bathe at the sink whilst in my wheelchair. It’s not easy, but I take my time, I’m very thorough & it gets me through until the scheduled “shower-day” (as my sister has to work certain hours to get fair payment). I’m too disabled to work the shower by myself & if I tried to, our mum (a pensioner with issues of her own) would have to clean up after me, so it’s literally not an option. Me using the sink doesn’t mean that I’m “unhygienic”, though. There are people out there who’ve never touched soap in their life, after all. Besides … you shouldn’t want to wash away all the natural oils your skin needs, which can happen if you shower daily (especially if you do it more than once daily). 🤷‍♀️

It's sad how they never take disabled people in consideration. I'm autistic and one of my worse sensitivity issues is... WATER. And I also have ADHD so the executive dysfunction makes it even harder (and my PDA profile that makes me dread any demand). I'm Brazilian and I can't even imagine telling someone I can't shower everyday bc ppl here are very "proud of their cleanliness" and bully anyone who doesn't follow these "rules". Actually some ppl here think it's wrong showering "only" once a day. Well, I can do it but it'd consume a lot of my "energy spoons". Sometimes even washing my hands is difficult, many times I opt for hand sanitizer (a very specific one bc sometimes they can be gross and sticky). Ppl love to judge or call us gross or unhygienic but ask them it they want to switch places with us... of course they won't.

"you don't need to always need to shower every day, did you know that? It's overkill, unless you work out or work outdoors, or for some reason come in intimate contact with huge amounts of filth and garbage every day, you don't always need to shower. All you really need to do is to wash the four key areas; armpits, a*****e, crotch, and teeth. Got that? Armpits, a*****e, crotch, and teeth. In fact, you can save yourself a whole lot of time if you simply use the same brush on all four areas!" - George Carlin!

Showers are easy and convenient. Just a few decades ago when many houses had a bathtub without a shower, most people would take a bath once or twice a week.

She never said she goes without WASHING the critical parts. And yes, I agree, Americans shower way too much. It's bad for your skin. I get doing a quick rinse-off daily in summer bc of sweat, but in winter? And with soap and scrub and whatnot every time? No good.

Before I became disabled and could still work, I showered every day and couldn't imagine not doing that. Now, showering is such a chore - it's exhausting as hell and I'm wiped out afterwards. I shower twice a week like this girl. But the thing is, I never work up a sweat and rarely go outside, so I don't smell. Plus, every day I do kind of a wh*re's bath - I use cleanser on a large cotton pad and clean my face, neck, chest and arms and then I moisturize and put on deodorant.

I brroke two of my toes awhile back and wrapping them was difficult for me, plus, I had leg pain that led to the broken toes in the first place. It suddenly became too difficult to shower! I have very short hair, so I resorted to washing my hair over the tub every few days and showering far less (but washing every day). Guess what - no one could tell. I missed my "daily communion" with water (soothing for me to be in, under or around it), but I was clean and not smelly. I'm even a morbidly obese person and managed it *shrugs*

I've tried to read through all these so if I missed this, I apologize. I haven't seen anyone talk about baths. I personally HATE showers. Hate them. I can never get warm because there are always parts of me where the water isnt hitting. I have low body temp naturally and it's miserable to take a shower. Obv I do when I travel, but I complain about it to anyone who will listen (jk) For me, a long relaxing bath each night is a ritual. Bath bombs, oils, scents, rich body washes- all go toward the experience. I sit and read and just let go of my day. Do I need to bathe each day? No. I wfh and some days never even go outside. Ultimately- to each his own. My son swears by only showering 2x week and even as a young man, he's never smelled. And I would check before I let him out the door! (Mom thing).

It's purely an individual decision. If you don't stink, you don't need to shower. Some people sweat a lot more than others. Others love the feeling of squeaky clean skin. Some people brush their hair a lot and don't need to wash it.

after WWII, there was a big push to sell soap and telling people they had to shower every day really took in the US. Europe thought it was dumb so didn't buy into it. If you don't do things that get you dirty, you don't need to shower. You can just wash the important bits.

As someone who suffers from eczema all over, I have to say that showering twice a week is plenty if you don't stink and aren't covered in something that can cause issues (like pollen if you have allergies). Showering every day will dry your skin even if you use lotion, it just takes longer to show the effects. Every time you shower, you wash off your natural body oils that lotion just can't take the place of. And this is info from the several dermatologists I have been to over the years.

People used to shower once a week until the soap industry decided that they weren't making enough money. So, through their propaganda, they convinced an entire population that you were gross is you lived in you skin for more than a day. Showing daily is a demonstration of the success of propaganda and how susceptible populations are to marketing. Your skin is the first layer of your immune system. Your skin produces anti-viral/bacterial secretions. Washing too often with soap diminishes your first layer of defense. Living in a dry climate in the winter time, when it's naturally drier, will leave your skin dry, cracked and itchy, and increase your chances for illness. And about using a shower cap to not wash your hair. I like my showers and baths hot. Wearing a shower cap means when I'm done, my head will be sweaty and my hair will be wet. And, yes, long hair is time and energy intensive.

When I was a little tyke, we took baths once a week (more often if we got really dirty). As I grew to adolescence I began to shower daily and continued this practice until I was about 65. Now I shower every other day, at the suggestion of my physician. My skin dried too much and the itching was awful (particularly in winter, I live in Montana and the humidity in winter inside can be only 5 or 10%) Now I shower every other day normally, maybe daily if I get real gross.

I can't go to bed without being clean. That said, almost all my showers are 60 to 90 seconds and soap only touches pits, bits, and feet. Never exfoliate in winter. Rarely exfoliate in summer. Wash hair once a week. I have never understood the concept of a long 15 to 20 minute shower. For me the luxury part of the process is the end: You're clean, in clean pajamas, in a clean bed, laying your clean head on a clean pillow. Heaven!

Showering every day isn't healthy for your skin. Most experts recommend 2-3 times per week. I usually showering 2-3 times per week. If I get dirty or sweaty, I'll of course shower that day as well. It is hard for my asthma to shower, no matter how good the ventilation is.

This entirely depends on person tomperson, if you do physical work, do workout everyday, do sports,... anything that makes you sweat, then yes, you need shower everyday. If you don't, you do office work, don't get that exhausted coming home doing chores,... then generally every 2-3 days is perfectly fine. 4th kind of start being bit so-so, manageable, but you really do start to smell slightly regardless. Like for me it is, if I work from home, then it can be fine, if not, I will shower at least every 3 days. Beside that, it also depends on time of year, like summer heat definitely brings out sweat on daily basis, bit for myself, if I don't do anything too intensive I can get away with showering every 2 days. Also I guess it depends on how fast you shower, I am more on slower side, I can't fir life of me do 5 min shower and call myself clean. So my guess is that likely is reason why some people also use second tower for a*s and sorroundong area even if wiping top to bottom.

I've never understood the showering every day, if i did that my skin would crack off. Bird-bathing pits n bum if you sweated is enough but i rarely sweat. Shower once a week and wash my hair 2x a week in the sink. To those asking in comments what being American has to do with showering every day? It's definitely a commercialized American thing for us to think we need shower gels and that new insanity-the gel that removes "feminine odor"?! The tagline says my bits snell like nothing. Wtf. Your body's scent is a good thing and an indication of health. If you are clean yet shoving a bar of Zest up your lady bits because your boyfriend doesn't like your smell then you need a new significant other. There is no reason to rail on people who don't need to shower 14x a week. Once you stop excessively showering with soap your body bacteria does it's job and keeps you in stasis. Rinse off showers are obviously fine, it's the soap that isn't.

I'll get in on this.. Showering everyday is really tough on your skin. Yes you want to wash away the bad bacteria, but showering everyday will wash away the good bacteria too and without the good bacteria to fight off the bad stuff, you make your self more prone to skin conditions. That said, some people really do need to shower daily due to daily life activities but they don't necessarily need to use soap and scrub their whole body down every time they shower. Sometimes just a good rinse off is plenty enough.

You are dirtier within hours of showering than before showering. Your body has natural defense against Bacteria that showering washes away. Humans were never meant to shower regularly, this is a modern invention. You damage your skin by constantly washing away it's oil. I'm 52, I only shower every 5 days too. This one thing is going to make me create an account to leave a comment. I am physically disabled, showering can and has led to me passing out . I have to sit on the floor of the tub to shower. Showering hurts so badly that I cry. It is EXHAUSTING and ruins my whole day when it is shower day, 1-2 times weekly. I am not gross! My mother has called me gross and other awful things because of this. This is not my choice at all!

Unless you're doing sports every day (which FYI is not very good for the body) or do a physically demanding job, showering every day is not just overkill... But harmful to the body! You're washing off the protective layers of skin! Not to mention that you're wasting water!

This is one of the reasons why my ex and i are getting divorced. I have dyed blonde hair and i spend a lot of money on it every 2 months my hair dresser has advised me to wash my hair once a week to maintain my hair health and color otherwise I'm wasting my money. I shower 2x a week, and wash hair once a week. My ex is grossed out by this didn't want me coming near him, touching him or his stuff. Meanwhile he showers everyday and he has skin rashes, dry ski that peels, and his hair just falls everywhere. I'm surprised he hasn't gone bald yet.

I feel like this totally depends on the individual and the activities of the day. My husband sweats at night and needs to shower pretty much daily and must wash his sheets every week. I'm not working(health issues) and barely break a sweat so I shower every two to three days, usually cause my skin and hair gets oily. My mother however has dry skin and her hair only needs to be washed once a week. She washes with a cloth every other day and takes a shower once a week. My husband will smell after a day, whereas even when I need a shower I don't smell. Making a rule of how often every single person should shower is silly. If you are dirty and/or smell, clean yourself.

I work from home. There's no one to smell me except my son and he likes my body odor. I shower twice a week and just use baby wipes for the pits the other days. I also shower if I have an appointment that's actually in person. But that's it.

Showers are not necessary for good hygiene (just saying since so many comments seems to imply that). I shower when I need to wash hair and have a beautiful old time washbasin, washcloth and jug for the rest of the days. For me it’s about the environment, it’s insane to flush hundreds of litres of clean water down a drain when a jug of water, soap and a good old washcloth maintains the hygiene just fine when not washing hair.

I have to shower every day or couple of days during the work week because my hair is naturally greasy, but I don't on weekends, unless I'm going somewhere and need to wash my hair. Every work morning when I wake up (I prefer to shower in the evening) I take a damp washcloth and wipe all the places that need it, whether I've showered the night before or not. I wish I could go more than 2 nights between showers, but my darn greasy hair! Even after the second night I have to wear it in a ponytail so it's not too obvious.

Being able to shower daily is a very modern first world phenomenon and I think a lot of people don’t realise that many still don’t have the privilege of doing it. Growing up (90s uk) we did not have a shower, and water is not free so baths were weekly. This was usual as recently as that.

Showering every day is terrible for your skin unless you're a teen or have VERY oily skin. You're just dehydrating your skin for no reason. This can lead to eczema and other skin conditions, worse allergic reactions, and weakening of certain aspects of your immune system. Not to mention it wastes water and soap. Also, the reason you smell bad when you don't shower is because you've killed off the natural healthy bacteria on your skin and they're repopulating unevenly, favoring the kinds that cause odor. If you can get past that stage, the smell will stop.

Y’all, this woman is obviously not gonna go on about her day if she stunk. Like some people don’t sweat as much, and see no point in showering everyday. Like me, I wash my hair sometime once or twice a week, but then I shower once or sometimes even twice a day because i naturally sweat a lot and have a lot of odour causing bacteria. But some people don’t, so showering less doesn’t really affect there hygiene. And it also really depends on your age too.

Do we really need to tell the entire world our showering habits? I guess I'm just too old to care about who showers when., or where I fall in the general population. Suffice to say I shower when I need to. And that's all you're getting out of me. LOL.

If it's not hot, I didn't work out, or sweat for a reason (job or such) I'm NOT showering twice a day. My skin hates it, I hate lotioning my body (I get very cold, Raynaud's phenomenon.) I shower every second or third day. Shampoo the same time. Me being nice to my body = no twice daily showers.

There are many places where water is scarce and it seems rather selfish to be using potable water just for rinsing off my skin everyday. I take a shower every few days, when I start to smell bad or have sweated too much. I use deodorant daily, body spray, brush my teeth, use cotton pads and astringent on my face & neck, and moisturize with lotion. If I were sweating a lot every day or working somewhere that literally left an odor on my skin, I would hop in the shower just long enough to wash my face & skin - hair only needs washed about 1x a week otherwise it's too dry.

How often one showers and washes their hair is a highly personal choice. It really depends on where you live and the climate of the area you live in. I've lived in countries near the equator so it's always hot and humid and you sweat constantly so that requires a daily shower. I've also lived in countries with four seasons so in winter especially, there is no need for a daily shower and hair can be washed maybe 2-3 times a week.

With my allergies I can't shower every day. I'm allergic to alcohol and that's in practically everything. Soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste/mouthwash...tons of other stuff. So when I shower I have to shower for about an HR to make sure I get ALL the product off me or I'll break out in a horrid rash that could even result in skin lesions. "Just get products that don't have alcohol in them" you might say. Well, I'm not too keen on spending $23 on a bottle of shampoo that would only end up lasting 2-3 weeks or $15 on a bar of soap-I haven't found a single liquid soap that doesn't contain some type of alcohol! I'd rather be nasty for a few days. I can manage just fine. Been doing it for over a decade now! I'll go 3-4 days normally...unless the last shower didn't get it all off me in which case I could wait up to a week for the after affects to subside before trying again... The allergies also worsen my Psoriasis which is mainly ony scalp...feels like fire combined...

I even have to be cautious when buying food... Does this bbq contain vinegar? Well, that comes along with a type of sugar alcohol normally...so back on the shelf with you. Going out to eat? Don't go too crazy outside your comfort zone! Hitting up Panda Express? Prepare for the backfire from the orange sauce. It's delicious, but my meeting with the great white round one may be a few hours...and then just gotta figure out what direction I'll b facing during that time...never fun, always regret, but so delicious!

I have, extremely dry skin. I also, dye my hair, causing it to be extremely dry. I shower, once a week. But, I wash up every night, before bed. The four point zones:Face, arms and hands, legs and feet, then the naughty bits. Fresh deodorant, lotion, and baby powder. Showering,I have to use a lot of body wash, and it really dried out my skin. I have the new Oil of Olay body washes with collagen, vitamin B+, etc . I love the rejuvenate. Showering even twice a week, hurts my skin. Washing up, requires less soap. Plus, the chlorine in tap water hurts our skin. Wash your face in bottled water, you will see the difference.

One of the biggest reasons for hygiene in general is for other people. Our natural odors and bad breath are "offensive" to others. Second is health, but you really have to go to the extremes before you'll get sick from it. Health wise women shouldn't go more then 10 days without washing, men, almost don't need to wash, but that would be offensive. Hygiene companies want you to believe you need to wash constantly, that it's normal and healthy. It's better for them then it is for you. But at the end of the day do what brings you joy and don't judge others harshly.

Everyone's skin needs are different. As long as you are free of offensive body odor then why shower every day. There are a few areas that usually do well with a refresher, but that's not a full shower. Also baby wipes would do the trick. You know what you need, you're not nasty or a bad person. Ask a close friend to let you know if they ever notice anything. Don't let us wonderful commenters out here try to fix what ain't broken. Do what you need to do for yourself.

Pits and bits, huh? That's enough? Get a q-tip, rub it in your bellybutton, now inhale. Take your socks off, inhale. You know that human beings sweat in their sleep, right? You may not notice that you do, but your inner thighs do and behind your ears, and your back. If you don't want to shower, that's fine, but don't pretend you don't smell.

Yuk. I wash my hair and shower AT LEAST daily. When I was a kid (prehistoric times obv) showers were a thing that did not exist for us. The choice was bathing or an all over wash at the sink. So expensive was heating hot water with a coal boiler or electric that an actual bath was a once a week event for the entire family. Bath night on a Sunday in an actual tin bath. BUT the rest of the week we washed daily all over at the sink. This is not as good but certainly better than nothing - we didn't smell. Not showering, bathing or washing more than twice a week means you are dirty..

How much bathing you "need" depends a lot on the individual. Also on what kind of job / activities you do. I have been both. Showered every day and sometimes twice a day if going out at night back when I worked on the farm. Currently less often but I don't stink. But also I'm retired - so hormones have long since settled down, not doing sweaty work and so son.

I shower like 2 times a week too. Water is expensive and others need it too. It's also not necessary to shower daily since you're disrupting your skins and scalps natural oil production and just wasting water. Use good deodorant, you don't smell. Humans don't smell. If you're actually showering every day, you're literally just a vad human being for wasting so much water. Think about others too

Growing up in Ireland, we had one bathroom and a tub (no shower) and limited hot water, which meant one full bathtub would bathe 3 people (as in, first person got the hot clean bath, whoever went next got to bathe in their bathwater). I got really good at "having a wash" in the sink every morning.

If I don't shower, I take a "Ho Bath". I wash everything just not in the shower. Sometimes I have a busy day and don't have the 30 minutes it takes me normally for my shower ritual. What sucks is I have met vegan, all natural folks who f*ck'in smelled and should have showered more often, who insisted that folks just deal with their funk. And folks who were so clean you could have eaten off their a**es. If you're not a smelly person, then what's the big deal? However, YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR UNDIES!

Never had any problems, never had any complaints, my health is fine and I have the resistance of a rinoceros. Never sick or whatever. Sitting in the office al week and having kids just doesn't really cause for a need (or time) do shower daily.

If you use a sponge / face washer for your armpits and private parts (and other body parts if desired) regularly, it's not necessary to have a shower every day. Also, I dye my hair red, which washes out quickly, so I don't wash it on a daily basis. I stopped taking daily showers some time ago. First there was the lockdown, then the record heat summer. Be prudent, take showers when necessary. Everything else is a luxury.

I don’t care how often people shower but you can tell who works out and who doesn’t. No way you can go to the gym and not shower the same day. Any day I don’t shower is definitely a skipped day at the gym.

Maybe you don't have to wash your entire body every day, especially if you don't exercise, but you have to wash your a*s, your feet and your armpits. Yes. every day.

54 yo male with medium length hair on top, buzzed on the sides. I shower about three times a week and maybe wash my hair once a week. My hair is easier to style when it's dirty. And if I don't stink, why take a shower? Why waste the water? How dirty am I going to get at home and even if I go to the office, I don't work up a sweat. If I were a gym guy, I'd shower after working out, but I'm not.

I feel that dish soap cant be good for your skin in the long run, but that's just my odd thoughts. I try to use more natural products as I get wiser and older. What about just getting yourself a bottle of Castile soap...way less harsh. I fear all the c**p we put on our skins are causing alot of these cancers. (Just a grandma trying to be helpful 🤗)

I can’t shower every day, because I live in a small flat and we don’t have one! A bath 2-3 times a week and good wash every morning - my hair is dyed red so washing it more than twice a week would make it go to straw. I do not smell… neither do I have manky hair. I think some of this comes down to how you are brought up.

Also people who visit hot and humid countries and don't shower are straight up judged

It's so easy to just take a quick shower without washing your hair, just put it up in a bun and shower. Pls at least shower once every second day and that's minimum, preferably shower once a day and wash your hair every 2-3 days.

Funny. A washcloth through all three of my armpits at least once a day is enough. The bathroom has a bidet that is used very regularly. And we change our clothes every day. Washing your hair every day is like using makeup, it's not a necessity. A washcloth ones a day can be enough. And don´t forget to give your feet and shoes some fresh air as often as possible (walk bare foot whenever you can. even small girls can walk bare foot in an office.)

You "get into the shower without washing your hair" so that you can wash your genitals and arm pits. A healthy human being loses about 2 litres of sweat each night so you might want to attend to that also. To restore the acid mantle after showering, moisturize a bit by applying skin care. So, yes, sorry: You're gross.

I would say not everyone has the same life, so, if you workout everyday, shower daily; if you live in a hot humid place, shower daily; if you start to smell, shower; if flies start to call you 'mommy', shower. But if not, no need to, to some people not showering can be good for their skin.

But winters are minus 20 so.. no lakes.

Ngl, I actually avoid showers whenever possible. I'm an Aspie and it's a sensory thing. Baths come with some of those same stimuli, but I'm able to get through those easier.

European here. I shower every day, sometimes skip one day, wash my hair twice a week since I found the right shampoo that doesn't irritate my scalp. That said, I don't think this is NECESSARY. Particularly in winter and if you maybe didn't get bout of the house. We have bidets thought and we Washbourne bums every.single.time.we.poop. In summer I shower three times a day.

I know that depression and mental illness affect every aspect of our daily life. The things we take for granted that seem so easy are tough. I used to shower every day but after losing my husband young, tragically, and very unexpectedly in front of me and my children, we now have PTSD, and something as easy as showering is such a chore. I make sure that I keep myself clean but it's far from easy.

My skin is amazing and healthy and tight.

I shower every other day, max. During vacation time not even that often. I hardly sweat, it's fine.

Wouldn’t want to have sex unless I’m clean. Otherwise, if you don’t stink, do a sponge bath for underarms and privates and you’re good.

I only shower daily during the week days. Weekend i don't always unless I was doing strenuous activity that made me sweat. I #2 more than once a day so i feel the need to shower at least daily. Since I don't have a bidet. But yeah her and anyone else's shower regimen. What do you care since it has no impact on your life lol.

There are such things as bidet or wet wipes. I have very dry skin, worse in the winter, my skin cracks and bleeds and no moisturizer does not help. Showering every day would dry my skin so badly, no thanks

I work at home now. I shower probably 2 a week. I dont go out, im not working out, im in my lounge clothes under a blanket at my desk. When I am in the shower I love it! Super hot!! But being in a cold climate now, the steam is setting off the fire alarm each time I shower. BF literally stands outside the bathroom waving a towel at the alarm. No window or working fan in bathroom. So its just too much to di each day. I shower when I leave the house.

I don‘t shower every day, but i hygiene is very important to me. In summer i will shower every day and wash my hair twice a week. During winter i shower 3 times a week, but will wash/clean myself every day.

You may not know what vegan means. It has nothing to do with being natural. Most vegan products are filled with man made ingredients.

I used to shower every day until the energy crisis. Now, I shower two or three times a week. That doesn't mean though that I don't wash myself the other days, I wash myself with cold water and a cloth.

My kids bathe every other day, not cause we think they are dirty, mainly because they are enjoying it. I personally shower 2 times a week, maybe 3, and obviously after any heavy excersize where I've been sweating.

I'm a once a week shower person. Especially in the winter. I also use dish soap on my hair and everything else. Way cheaper than body wash or shampoo.

I typically only shower 2-3 times a week, sometimes more, sometimes 1-2, but on the mornings I don't shower I at least take a sink bath, wash face, armpits, and crotch, which this girl did not mention, but I hope she does too.

I live in a tropical, hot and humid country and in my experience people who say they don't need a shower because they don't smell bad, actually smell horrible but their nose has already gotten used to their awful smell. Also people who visit hot and humid countries and don't shower are straight up judged

It's so easy to just take a quick shower without washing your hair, just put it up in a bun and shower. Pls at least shower once every second day and that's minimum, preferably shower once a day and wash your hair every 2-3 days.

I wash and shower everything, every single day. I try to move a lot or workout at least 3x a week. I'm all about being clean and not stinking. I bet those of you not showering very much also don't believe in deodorant. Just because you can't smell yourself, doesn't mean the rest of us can't. Take a shower!
