These are Valaise Blacknose Sheep, and people can't decide whether they're cute or scary. This sheep breed is raised mostly for wool and originally comes from Switzerland. However, the reason they become popular on the internet is not their wool. It's their incredibly dark faces. So dark, that some say you might see your soul starring back at you from the bottomless black void.

I love the fact that they're always looking at the camera. Photogenic sheep?
Yeah sure! Really terrifying! I am terrified by their cuteness. Beware! You might feel irresistible need to cuddle those fluffy creatures. :))
"Mom ... don't look now, but a strange person-thing is staring at your butt! Yeah - seriously!!!"
"You know, if I turn my left horn just about 15 degrees to the east, I get Radio Scotland! Yeah, seriously ... try it!!"
I wonder if farmers have them in Canada, would definitely love the wool for crocheting and knitting, not to mention I'd love to go visit a farm like that just for all the fluffiness :)
They are only in Europe and England. They carry some virus that prevents them from being imported across the pond.
Load More Replies...I think they're adorable and am getting some when I retire and buy a lot of land so I can have my own petting zoo.
Have raised many different breeds of sheep for 40 years and just love them. The ewes have made wonderful babysitters for my toddlers and young children through the years. My favorite have been Merino, Columbia, Cotswold and Corriedale. Have spun the wool from all of them and many more. If anyone knows where to get one of these sweet sheep or some of their fleece would love to have. The wool has great crimp in it. Live in Wisconsin and have never seen them here. What would ever make them scary???
FLUFFYYYYYYY!!!!! They are the fluffiest cutest creatures I have seen in a while :) I would love a herd of these :D
I need a flock of these awesome little guys!!! There lambs are causing cuteness overload!!
I think you need to hire a proof-reader. "starring back at you", yeah?
I don't know who on Earth might think these adorable cratures might be something different than they are: fluffy and peaceful sheep! I think they're super cute!
they are sheep. nothing terrifying about them. I wouldn't call them cute either. if you want an adjective to slap on them, how about woolly. Just like every other sheep.
Wool looks more like that which would be used for carpet. And coloured as well would reduce the demand for those who need white wool for dying.
