If you are wondering where the heck did we get all of these images, the answer is shittyfoodporn. This subreddit was created all the way back in 2012 and over the years it has become the archive of unappealing food pics. With over 1.7 million members, it's impossible to imagine it dying out, too.
The pandemic, however, might reduce the number of submissions the subreddit receives. They say practice makes perfect and coronavirus is really making Americans cook. In one recent survey, 54 percent of respondents said they cook more than before the pandemic, while 75 percent said they have become more confident in the kitchen and 51 percent said they will continue to cook more after the crisis ends.

Ant that's a good thing. On average, those who frequently cook at home eat less fat and sugar than other people; many restaurants and food companies use so much of these ingredients in their recipes, home cooks just can't keep up.
I guess the big question is whether or not we will return to our previous ways once everything goes back to normal. Let's just hope that our palates will have experienced a reset and our hands would have acquired enough skill to retain our new eating and cooking habits. At least a little bit.

I mean, if you're a coeliac and you don't like the gluten free bread that's available to you, this is pretty much your other option.
Yeah, I eat a ton of rice cakes too.. Gluten free bread is.. meh.. (and crazy expensive), so unless you have a toaster (toasting makes GF bread better).. this is a pretty decent option.

After 5 years of having to eat gluten-free, and eating rice cakes almost every day. I still prefer rice cakes over gluten-free bread, it is much much cheaper but it tastes amazing and like 10.000 times better than gluten-free bread. (To be honest when I still could eat gluten I hardly ever ate bread, most of the lunches I fed myself with rice cakes or noodles (which I miss))
Have you tried vermicelli rice noodles or glass noodles?

Actually, I love rice cakes therefore for me this sandwich isn't depressing at all. Also it's low in calories so it's good for a weight loss.
Back when I was on a gluten-free diet due to intestinal difficulties, there were no other options! I ate a LOT of rice cakes! My mom was still alive then & she made me a birthday cake from a stack of rice cakes "frosted" with cream cheese. I loved it & the love she gave me by making it.
they should have toasted the rice cake lightly- then it would not be as bad.
I love the chocolate rice cakes but not using them as bread slices for a sandwhich
at least heat in the microwave for a few seconds to melt the cheese
Soo much other stuff to eat, if you are coeliac. Spam and bland cheese is horrible.
OMG, that´s why one gets hungry in another 5 minutes and let´s you eat another three of this. need something satisfying.
rice cakes are delicious. Never thought of making a sandwich with, seems a bit much.
If I was a cook, I'd make an awesome lunch for him. You never know whether or not someone always has food to eat. But then again, don't assume. Ask, if they say no, then it was worth a try.
It's only recently we hear about 'gluten free' or the 'need' for it. does anyone else think the problem is in the processing, or maybe all the poisons they put in the growing field?

This is akin to ordering a diet Coke with a Big Mac. Luncheon meat is not only high in sodium, the preservatives are not healthy either.
