Some people are impossible to impress. Imagine a person who looks at a 5,000-year-old monument and downplays it as a pile of rocks. Or someone who goes to a castle that was originally built in 1068 and calls it a 'Disneyland wannabe'.
They shouldn't be allowed to visit the United Kingdom. But they're not only traveling to the country, they're trashing it public on Tripadvisor, leaving one-star reviews to some of the world's top attractions.
I just hope they're doing it as a joke, otherwise we have to call the Queen and tell her she needs to sign a few deportation papers ASAP!

Let's agree not tell this guy, that it's actually a big bell. Shhh...
I wonder if people actually realise you can go inside and do a tour (pre COVID obviously). It’s great inside.
It's the first tower clock in England and it changed how people lived. It was a huge deal back then. Now, yeah it's just a big old clock. But it is a significant part of history.
That's like meeting Jason Momoa and instead of immediately hyperventilating and going into butterflies stroke, you're like, so it's a guy?
Because it was an engineering feat, when constructed. That's the reason for the hype. Just like the Mona Lisa isn't "just another painting".
Also Gothic architecture. I think it's gorgeous!

Tripadvisor itself describes it as "a country filled with epic landscapes, fairy-tales castles and vibrant modern cities bursting with unforgettable experiences to share. Whether it's gazing at the London skyline from the top of iconic St Paul's and sipping the finest single malt whisky in a pub in the Scottish Highlands, or tracing footsteps of Banksy in Bristol, discovering musical legends in Liverpool and exploring the history of Cardiff Castle in the stunning heart of Wales, there’s a Britain that’s perfect for you."

But don't worry even if you visit the UK just for one night and the only place you go to is the pub. British people tend to find humor everywhere, including dark or bad situations. However, they often use sarcasm and take the occasional stab at someone else’s expense, so it's important not to take these jokes to heart as they are only meant in jest.
To even suggest knocking down Stonehenge for an arcade is unthinkable. But if you're going to replace it with Funfair, I'm in!
Even better, replace the rocks with arcade machines :D
Load More Replies...Actual druids and what-not? Pixies? Something Bigger, perhaps.
Load More Replies...or go to a f*****g arcade or funfair if thats what youre looking for. dumbass
It's come close to being knocked down a few times n it's history. The Romans were not that impressed by it and did pull some of the stones down to use elsewhere. Plus it was privately owned until the 1920s and either the last private owner or the one before that wanted to knock them all down. Thankfully it's now owned by The National Trust who look after it.
What an empty world these people must inhabit, with no history or culture to cloud their mind...omg
I am assuming some first-trip-abroad American wrote this.
Load More Replies...Or maybe build a funfair near it and use the funds to pay for the protection and upkeep of Stonehenge
Well, this one isn't all that wrong lol. It's just that the Queens grandfather clock is bigger than yours.
This is what happens when you allow people out of Walmart to see the sites and sights of the world.
You are a historical idiot what the hell did you think it was a video game?
I'd like to read his other reviews: The Great Wall of China - "Oh, so it's just a big wall". The Grand Canyon - "It's just a deep riverbed". The Taj Mahal - "It's, like, a white grave"
Actually, Big is not just a clock, it's not a clock at all. It's the bell. Stupid person.
A bit over embellished about risking your life having that photo taken. It is a pedestrian crossing and cars are meant to give way.
Person was drunk and one of the wheels was wonky. It created this amazing zig-zag pattern. We then decided it looked so cool and pretty that all the zebra crossings got them.

And the view from the entrance is wonderful

Awwww that's heartbreaking, hope you get to go pretty soon.
Load More Replies...God help me. Who does not understand the purpose of an art gallery? Or any museum? This reviewer probably things some of the galleries in New York's Met are just full of random "stuff".
Spectacular as it may seem, I wouldn't pay 13 GBP to see it either tbh :(
Ah come on! The sheer magnitude of the place is incredible. It's like another planet, weird as it is.
Load More Replies...The reason there's a fee; is to pay for the maintenance of the walkway to the stones, and to build more sea walls to stop the fast erosion an crumbling of the stones. They are a geological marvel, where else ya gonna see perfectly hexagonal shaped rocks with no human interference!
You don't have to pay. They just make it look like you have to go through the visitors centre, which costs a fortune and is literally just a rip-off. I'm a native and have gone to see it for free for over 40 years.
Load More Replies...If you can, also visit Staffa! Natural hexagons, a cave and wee puffins... lovely!! (Also encountered seals and a whale shark on the way!)
There are fees for so many any attractions, including nature, all over the world, you should always check the price in advance and watch out for tourist traps. I don't mind if it goes into maintenance, conservation, scientific research but...do a bit of prep. If we ever travel again because of Covid
Nature should be free, and probably could be, if humans would just clean up after themselves. At least it could be cheaper
"Worth seeing, but not worth going to see" Dr Samual Johnson (1709 - 1784).
Technically you dont have to pay to see the rocks you have to pay to park. Good tip, get to the parking lot before the museum opens and you can park for free. Or walk there by the coast path. It is absolutely incredible and one of my favourite places on this earth!
In America Mount Rushmore is free. But you have to pay a huge fee for parking and it's in front and takes all the space up. That way you have to pay. But you can park down the road and hike the mile up if you can find a spot. Then it's free. LMAO.
Load More Replies...I would not pay to see something natural that should be free to everyone.
"Not an actual eye" I hate that people like this have drivers licenses.
His wife's review reads "My daughter and I loved it. The views were breath taking and it was exactly as described when I researched it before our trip. 10/10 would recommend just don't bring your annoying husband"
It is how you get a view all over central London. Not as interesting as your newspaper though.
I've been on the London Eye before, and I remember enjoying it. I was about 10, but still.
Hope they stop breeding.. Hoping the daughter and wide aren't this daft
Defiantly - adv: in a manner that shows resistance and/or refusal (v: to defy - to resist, to refuse). Definitely - adv: without any doubts.
I love how defiantly often gets used in error instead of definitely.

All these tourists complaining about the lack of decent food at these venues/monuments. Do they just visit heritage sites to eat??
Tell me about it. Those very large many plants are a total snooze fest. If you want a real dose of adrenaline I suggest you climb up the Monkey Puzzle trees or run through the stinging nettles- you might get some nasty gashes over your body, but man, that will really get you out of those boiling greenhouses and into a nice, chill hospital room.
Do they believe in punctuation? That was a long run on sentence that made zero sense and incorrectly used the world defiantly. It’s not fair stupid people get to be rich and travel
Perhaps the reviewer was using the stream of consciousness technique of writing. LOL But, 'defiantly' was definitely used incorrectly.

I have a story on disappointment to add about this place: I visited these baths with my family a few years ago and for some reason (looking back I don't understand how this came to be) we we're under the impression that this was a place where you could have an original Roman bath experience - including actually bathing. So we packed towels and swimsuits and everything. For me, the truth started to sink in when I saw the "Guide dogs allowed" sign, for my parents it was much, much later. Once we had realised our mistake, we we're terrified that someone would look into our bags and start asking questions. Today it's one of our favourite holiday memories 😅
Maybe it's more for people who remember the Roman occupation of Britain. (Joke intended.)
Been to Rome a few times and I'll say most of it has turned into huge money grabs from tourist. Tour guides charge over $50 per person for a 2 hour walk around an attraction. The best way to enjoy Rome is to learn about it's history and then go. I remember the first time I went I was telling my family about the Column of Trajan and how to read it and what it was all about. Within 5 minutes I had people standing around me listening. To me it's more fun knowing about the history and then seeing it in person.
I took the tour years ago. When my group was down next to the pool pictured above the girl behind me said, "Thaaaaat can't be sanitary. I think I got the Plague just by looking at it."
She likely was not wrong. Back in the day, hopefully, there was flowing water. Does anyone know how or if the baths were kept clean?
Load More Replies...Wow. History and heritage are ALWAYS for the future generations, especially young adults, who have so much to learn from the past in order to build a better future.
How dare you?! This place is an amazing museum! I grew up in that area. Bath residents could get in for free so I used to regularly go in with my friend to eat a packed lunch by the main pool (the one you can see in the pic). Not sure you'd still be able to do that now though, even pre-covid.
They probably thought 1 meant "This place is #1 and should be the 1st place you visit!"

Paula, Edinburgh Castle is definitely worth the visit if you happen to visit Scotland in the future. In looks like the view in this photograph is taken from the Prince's Street Gardens, but I may be wrong. Luckily, you do not have to climb up that craggy cliffside. The Royal Mile (streets like meander through Edinburgh's Old Town) lead you straight up to the castle gates.

Brilliant deduction it only feels like a ferris wheel use your eyes in stead of your mouth.
I love Warwick Castle, it’s a beautiful building and they show you how it was used with displays and mannequins as well as live performances, but the added costs on top of an expensive ticket are ridiculous.
A lot of maintenance is needed for these places, and that costs money.

I'm assuming this person is American. Stop making us look bad! Not sure you've been to Disney, though. They're notorious for charging a fortune for everything. Including parking ( at least in America).
They have a point - 2,000 years of real, dramatic history, and they have indeed soiled it with crass commercialisation. It's sad, really, as there are hundreds of amazing historical stories to be told by those medieval stones, yet the current owners insist on 'interpreting' the history for their own profit margins. I would much rather see Warwick Castle owned by EH or NT, and the historical aspect restored to its full glory.
This one I actually agree with- it's a dreadful place that appears to be directly modelled on an American "renaissance faire". As a kid's theme park it is a rip off- as a historic monument, it has been treated with indignity.
Honestly, it needed to be said. There are knockoff disneyland castles all over Europe, just cheap imitations with hardly any pink. Check out Neuschwanstein castle, it's a total copy. No originality whatsoever.
Here's something for you to realize this was built in 1068. So this was way way before Disneyland

Anyone who thinks a Weatherspoons is "worthwhile" should not be allowed to visit national monuments
This is actually a decent review. It warns me never to go as I hate super touristy places and I loathe crowds
It’s great but The Lost Gardens Heligan down the road are so much better.
There are usually times of the day, week, month, year when crowded touristy places are naturally at less capacity. Ex Disney World on Super Bowl Sunday is at half capacity. Call the venue or visit the website to find when is the least busy time to attend
When I went it was practically empty inside the domes... The attractions for both the younger and older were perfect. Showed you how it was built, too- took 20 years to be completed! Ungrateful... I'll say person.
Crowds are no fun anywhere on holiday, if you want to experience it, go off peak. My own perfect example, been to Venice twice, once in July, once in early April. Made a huge difference and the second time I really fell in love with it. The crowds drown a place and are a huge distraction, so avoid at all costs
You have got to pick the right time of the year and make sure the kids are in school.
Correction my dear Edinburgh castle is Scottish not English, so it's the Scots bragging and rightly so lol
Britain encompasses Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. So they are correct. I would never tell a Scot that they are English.

I love Edinburgh castle and Warwick castle so I don't know why these people are being ridiculous.
Stupid argument about whether Scots are British when the (12th century) castle predates Britain's occupation of Scotland. The point of THIS article being that an uncultured and dolt of a tourist hasn't the palate nor appreciation for this marvel. Give 'em a plate of hot dogs cut into their spaghetti and send them home. Pearls before swine...
"Britain's occupation of Scotland..." Does not make sense. Perhaps "England's occupation..." but Scotland, being part of Britain, cannot occupy itself.
Load More Replies...I think giving a bad review only reflects on you. Honestly .... you don’t even really know where you were! Castle tours are a necessity of the 20th century. Most of them are owned by family member who live there but have tours to keep them open.

When we left England I cried because I had never got to see Stone Henge. I am still sad that I have never visited it. 53 years later.
You can't blame English Heritage for charging healthy entrance fees for one of the most visited attractions in UK tourism. The fact is the organisation has responsibility for the care of 800 monuments around the country, and the vast majority (80 percent) are free to enter. Income to maintain HUNDREDS of historic sites that can't attract any paying tourists has to come from somewhere.
This person did NOT go to Stonehenge. There are no "food" shops, there are no "entry" fees, there is no "staff." You can walk around Stonehenge but that is all. We went on a tour and our guide was incredible. His "lecture" was one of the best I have ever heard. I wish I had recorded it.
Ah - no. The visitor centre is about a mile away from the stones with a gift shop, exhibition and cafe. You do also have to pay to walk near to the stones - you get a little over 9 metres away from them. There are grounds around the stones that can be walked on for free.
