I’ve Been Exploring The Diversity Of The Chinese Landscape And Took Aerial Pictures (49 Pics)
With the complexity of traveling out of China during the pandemic, I kept traveling and meeting the diversity of the Chinese landscape as a break between industry and city to reconnect to nature.
The aerial photo series called "The Beauty of China From the Air" was born from my extensive trip through Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Tibet, and many other Chinese provinces, photographing the most picturesque landscapes.
Capturing beautiful scenery from the sky. These pictures of desert, trees, villages bring another vision of mother nature and man-made structures from high ground. Sunlight hits and creates a dazzling display of colors. Let's explore.

The way the levels are split in the buildings mimics the landscape. Very beautiful shot.
Longji Terrace - Guangxi County
Load More Replies...How much work went into all those terraces! They are lovely from the air.
China is vast and diverse - you can find green lush tropical forest / desert / mountain
I had no idea China was so green and gorgeous. We mostly only see urban photos.
No the color of Kanas lake is Turquoise due to glacier
It is so beautiful. I came across a stream in Colorado once that was close to this color, and no one believed it was real. I guess snow melt?
Load More Replies...Walking down that valley it would look like Shangrila in th sunshine
Load More Replies...Is it the salts that give it this color? We have red tides in Florida, but not this red!
Load More Replies...Probably bacteria like here https://www.pandotrip.com/dangerously-saline-red-lake-natron-in-tanzania-9817/
Good question. This is the only thing I found: There has been two different theories to explain the particular color of the lake: the special minerals in the water, or brine shrimp, a micro creature living in salt lakes. Both elements can endow the lake with pink color. Is it toxic? It would not be an industrial toxin. It's in the middle of a fast desert. My desire is to go to China and take one of their bullet trains. The cities are huge, and beautiful.
Load More Replies...Maybe I need some scale but I can't understand how people access/ farm these terraces. I realize its been done for centuries but are the crops worth the effort?
These fields are so beautiful I just want to linger and study their construction.
Wow, they're above the clouds. I didn't know that had rice paddies at such high altitudes.
2000 meters above sea level
Load More Replies...Wow do I ever wish you posted locations for these, I'd love to seek them out in FlightSim
Wuyuan in Jiangxi Province - they do dry spices that is the yellow and red circles
Thanks for that information. The colors are so vibrant, I thought it was paint.
Load More Replies...I love the way town looks hemmed in by forest. Yes, I am with Hannah, I need more information. At least a location would be nice.
I wish there was some information with the photos, I wonder what the yellow and red circles are on the roofs.
Jiankou - Wild Section - it's the shadow in autumn not fire
An overgrown part of the great wall by the looks of it.
Load More Replies...Forces that shaped this landscape must have been ...terrifying. Still, I wish I could have seen it happen.
Wouldn't it have been just that little river + erosion over millions of years?
Load More Replies...Ooh, I know this feeling. Walked across America years ago and the vast wild spaces made me feel so connected to the planet and its energy. No words to describe the profound joy of being immersed in nature. Solitude is a learning experience.
Indeed, a divine learning experience! For instance, I learned I should have packed more water...
Load More Replies...Another wide open space that makes me uncomfortable... but such incredible scope. I'm surprised the foot prints are so clear.
about 3500 m to 3800 m - Gansu Province - Gannan - Langmusi Town
Below 8,000 meters; otherwise it wouldn't be breath-taking! ;)
Load More Replies...I want to live here on a mountain slope just above the floodplain.
Sichuan as well but no it's a valley near Dzongsar
Load More Replies...Looks like a flood. Are those trees or shrubs or some kind of waterborne plant?
The color and architecture in the towns is fascinating! I wonder how old the buildings are or how long they've been building them in their styles.
Load More Replies...Just for a moment, imagine witnessing the geologic forces that lifted, folded, twisted, and eroded this landscape.
To be fair, the geological forces probably took slightly longer than a moment. Not sure which gets me more: the sheer force such events must have had, or the enormous time scale it must have taken... Either way it's an awe inspiring thought!
Load More Replies...Erosion, I think. Perhaps a harder granite cap that remains after the more fragile sedimentary rock eroded.
Load More Replies...Valley in Litang - Sichuan but yeah very close to Tibet
Load More Replies...I'll counteract that down vote, it may be a scar but it adds to the character of the place.
Load More Replies...Indeed. White, Red, TerraCotta... have not seen this one color scheme anywhere else.
Load More Replies...Is that water, and are the buildings hanging out over it? Doesn't seem like they'd end so abruptly if it was land.
Soon: stuck in a traffic jam composed entirely of cows who are in no hurry to cross the road
Load More Replies...Some of these are so very Chinese... I love the all one color towns, and the roof tops, and the terraces, and well, all of them really. These are beautiful photos.
Made me want to grab fishing gear and go. But yes, definitely!
Load More Replies...Loved the photos. Those I marked downward were because the water in them appears to be polluted.
Gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing! I've never actually seen anything like these villages.
Enjoyed these very much but wish they would have said something about what and where they were. China obviously but........
