There are always people who think they deserve more than everybody else. They constantly ask for a discount, try to gorge on more freebies than they can carry, never tip, and always try to get things for free. And there’s a specially dedicated place for them called “Choosing Beggars,” a 2.2M-strong subreddit that collects the most hilariously embarrassing cases.
And you may think that Thanksgiving, a national holiday which essentially encapsulates the word and the meaning giving, would stop them. Well, not really. Apparently, the festivity may as well serve as a perfect opportunity to have all its perks without putting in all the effort or losing a dime.
So this time we collected some of the most crazy examples of beggars in action: Thanksgiving edition. After you’re done, be sure to check out our previous posts with people whose ego and entitlement is too big for this tiny world here, here and here.

Grandma's Thanksgiving Rules
This sounds like a regular badass grandma after years and years of bullsh*t.
I'm with Rhonda. Stay home and look after your precious kitty, and don't feel guilty!
I would gladly stay home with my cats and enjoy my vegan dinner. If grandma has the right to not put up with anybody's personal choices so have I.
Load More Replies...This is not ridiculous, this is hilarious. "You shouldn't bring something that wiggles more than you do," LMAO! Grandma is clearly sick of all yo s**t.
If my cat needs injections, you can bet your grandma ass that I will give my cat those injetions. F those Thanksgiving rules.
She’s so comically brutal I laughed the whole way through. I love this grandma.
This definitely smells of “I’m gonna write a ‘sassy fed-up grandma’ post so it’ll go viral”
Load More Replies...This doesnt sound bad at all. Just some old ass granny who doesnt wanna f**k around with the little time she has left.
While Blackmailing her family to visit or else she will cut everyone off the will
Load More Replies...Some of these are very reasonable for someone who has hosted more than their fair share of large parties, but she lost me with the dig at the vegetarian and the sick cat.
She lost me all the way up at "paper plates and solo cups may be bad for the environment but I'll be gone soon and that'll be your problem to deal with." Thanks a lot grandma, this mindset is why the planet is dying. I'd rather have NO holidays if it means saving our Earth.
Load More Replies...I can imagine the thanksgiving headaches of days past that required this long list. Probably started with a short one paragraph suggestion after one fateful holiday and now has grown into this… and this is why I work on thanksgiving and Christmas.
I worked once on Christmas for 3x pay in customer service. After that shift I decided never ever working again on those holidays even if they pay me 6x. Every single customer was super rude and horrible. It's just not worth it.
Load More Replies...Grandma would literally never hear from me again. She has insulted half the people coming, has belittled HER OWN FAMILY for everything from their cooking skills, to their "jiggliness", to their choice of life partners. If she's ALWYAS been this big a b*tch, that's one thing. But if this much rude, aggressive, assaultive behavior at the holidays is new, it would be an immediate signal to me that Grandma needs a Parkinsons/dementia/Alzheimers check ... ASAP
Plus she’s undermining the parents by giving the kids sweets after the parents said no.
Load More Replies...Grandma can bet her grandma ass that if my cat needs injections, I will give my cat those injections. F her and her stupid Thanksgiving dinner rules.
My MIL was like this ( just more passive aggressive - glad she is gone.I stopped visiting during the holidays when she pulled the present threat. So she wrote her son out of her will.
Exactly! This is not funny and hilarious! This is a toxic as hell person that should be avoided at all costs
Load More Replies...Passive aggressiveness and it seems like her last will....and maybe Christmas presents.
Load More Replies...What’s shameful about this? She’s sick of their garbage and is calling them on it
The attitude of not caring about the planet dying is shameful to me. And to not understand pets are like children, and that some people have strict dietary needs.. Very selfish grandma.
Load More Replies...Wow. She sounds awful and if she wasn't 'a grandma' more people would be calling this out for the toxicity it is. Stay away and have your own day.
That will must be pretty big if people are putting up with this.
At this point just... don't host thanksgiving, it really doesn't sound like she "enjoys" is, and a lot of those "rules" are really inconsiderate towards her family and rude x.x Just a few is kinda ok But yeah probably it's very fake
It's probably like $1000 because the stupid old bitch doesn't understand what money is worth these days lol.
Load More Replies...I doubt this is real, but if it was and if I was a relative, I'd be going as far away from her as possible.
I hope like hell no one showed. What disgusting behavior from a disgusting person
I am stunned that she would think 32 people would actually show up. I think Rhonda, Mary and Chloe should host the dinner someplace else, with nicer people.
This is why people don’t go to family gatherings anymore. Because Grandma.
I would not be going out of my way to spend time with this woman. If she hates the event and all the attendees so much, save everyone’s time and don’t bother.
If this is true, which I have a hard time to believe, then all I can say: what a family! Doesn't sound as if any person mentioned is well behaved or has manners. Granny wasn't a good role model, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She does have a few good rules, though: having TV off during the meal, no mobile phones, suggesting games that involve more than just a single player in front of a screen, refill-rule for the kids (she is so right on that waste part), no political discussions... I don't agree on the bacon part, intolerance for vegetarians! Also, we don't know the full story of the sick kitty - maybe it does need to be euthanized- but I probably would be using the health condition of my pet as well and NOT GO to that donner
Now this is why I like my family. I don’t have to deal with this sort of thing.
Badass or not I would be devastated if my Gram directed any of that kind of vitriol at me or, really, anyone in the family. She called one a moron, one an idiot, insulted someone's cooking, someone's cat and everyone's kids. If that is how this family operates I'd run the other way. That is, if any of this is real and not someone's idea of a joke.
Not caring about the planet dying? About people's pets being like their children? About the fact that some people have strict dietary needs? Not letting people video tape a holiday? I see a lot of unreasonable comments here.
Load More Replies...Sounds like she's tired of people not watching their kids and letting them break her stuff, tired of being left out of conversations because people are texting, tired of people showing up late and wanting everything reheated, tired of trying to walk around without tripping over kids toys (as well as tired of listening to them), tired of having a cat chosen over her, and tired of meeting new spouses. It's her house, she's allowed to be tired of all of those things and say look: if ya'll want to get together so bad, and you want to do it at MY house, then this is how it's going to be. They all have homes, obviously, they bring their kids and their kids' toys from those homes repeatedly or there wouldn't be rules about them, so any other adult could host Thanksgiving, why have it at her house? If the adult children want it there because it's the only time they see each other, than fine, but maybe they could act a bit more like ADULT children when they get there?
I LOVE this woman! well except for the bacon part but hey no one is prefect!
I say that it's a bit harsh. But i totally understand where she is coming from.
Minus the environment crap, this is Grandma laying down the law, and she's a badass.
I bet you would sing a different tune if you were Chloe (the poor gal with the Jell-O) - Grandma's comment was not badass but downright nasty!
Load More Replies...Just remember, when your old, you can pay back the crap the world gave you your entire life
this isn't entitled, this is just hilarious. this grandma is a legend!!
You Go Grandma!!! Lol! I might paste and steal this for my next Family gathering.
Sounds more like grandma has money and the only way she can buy love is to threaten to take people out of her will... Guess what ya old hag I dont need you or your money and will laugh when you die alone
Truth be told, I actually like this Grandma. She and people like her need to be in a different post / article , like something based on family , discipline or something like that.
LOL! Sorry, but I find her sarcasm and general disgust with stupidity and bad behavior irresistible. You go, Granny!
Wow... Her last will and testament better be veeeeeeeeery interesting for her family to deal will all that bullshit. People need to understand that being old does not make you a god.
Several of these points are longstanding holiday rules in our family. Additionally, IMHO "being in the will" is a privilege and gift, not an entitlement. If she wants to make conditions to inclusion, she has every right.
I'm copying grandma's rules and print them for EVERY holiday. She should copyright, print and sell them herself. She'd become billonaire. P.D. Any chance me getting dinner with her sometime?
Make sure you meet her expectation then - it's all fun and butterflies until you find yourself at the receiving end of her rules. Maybe she does not like your haircut, perfume or the way you talk? Might be featured in next year's rules as well!
Load More Replies...Although I agreed with Grandma in a few things I think, imho, that she is asking too much.
I'll need an update of when the old bitch dies and have another thanksgiving then.
This is kinda obnoxious/rude, but SOME of these "rules" make a lot of sense, and it is reasonable for her to have some rules.
Except for rule 5 (I am not vegetarian or vegan but I respect those who are) and 10 I am ok with everything.
Dinner at 2? Dinner at 2?.... So many questions here... :)
Well, it's Thanksgiving Lunch. Remember: her house - her rules ;-)
Load More Replies...This sounds normal for a Texas grandma... Maybe it's time grandma stopped hosting holidays, would be less stress.
This is my kind of grandma, the lady means business and you should listen to it
Some of these are hilarious and great. But a few of them make it so i would just go ahead and stay home and away from grandma.
Welcome to Thanksgiving in the South, (although I detect a distinct Texas vibe here, that sounds a lot like my Grandmother.)
#5 and #6 contradicts #11. Vegans supposed to sit still with a glass of water? I apologize, red solo cup of water
absolutely fake, saw that dozens of times circulating over internet
This was lifted straight off a blog post from 2012. She has written and posted several holiday letters to the family. She's hilarious. https://margaretandhelen.com/2012/11/19/thanksgiving-letter-to-the-family-2012/
The pleasantry of the ending almost makes you forget all the entitled crap that went on in the message
Ohhh I can't wait to be a grandma this is soooo getting stolen and modified to my liking.
If this was a real person, she'd have no one to write to. All of her family either would have cut off contact from her years ago or have placed her in the State Home for the Bewildered.
dear grandma, you can go f**k yourself... Imma rather stay with the sick cat and have environmentally friendly vegan dinner and you can shove the testament up your ugly old fat ass... you can celebrate the anniversary of native American genocide alone and then just drop dead... I really mean all of the above
THIS is why my family now Goes to a nice restaurant for holiday dinners.
I would rather stay home and eat peanut butter and shredded carrots on it and make have a friend go by like he's late, with a bunch of food he needs to reheated. And all of it would be blue. Alfred Hitchcock shared this little mystery years ago. Only thing is, he didn't know who the extra guest was but she was as drunk as a skunk. There are no truly blue foods, by the way. Very unappetizing color. Good for a diet I guess.
This grandma is FIRE. Give this woman a prize . Lmao. She won't take BS on her last Thanksgiving.
This granny is really me in some years if I would have kids 😆
Grandma is not having any of of your bs this year. Better mind your mouths and your brats if getting in the will is what you are all about.
Dear Grandma: FU and your will. I'm celebrating Thanksgiving with friends. You are a vile old ****** and I will not spoil a Thursday afternoon with your "rules" ... Love, your Son
Grandma started out sounding like a feisty old bird who was just tired of dealing with idiots. She ended up sounding like a nasty bitch who thinks her money gives her the right to treat others - including her own family - like s**t.
🤔<(Does anyone else read this to themselves in a professor Farnsworth type voice, or is it just me?)😳🤪🤣
I don't know you, but I love this grandma. She is fed up of bullsh*t.
That’s too much ass kissing in the hope of inheriting her vintage board games.
Stuffing doesn't have bacon in the title of the food. Egg salad does have eggs in the title though. So no bacon grease in stuffing is not like eggs in egg salad. This lady is an idiot.
Grandma is a c**t and can spend the holiday alone. We can buy our own gifts
I actually love this one.😂 “Grandma’s been dealing with your s*** for decades, so here’s the deal.”
This sounds like an elitist self entitled grandmother who raised elitist self entitled children. She gets what she deserves. Should've raised them better.
Well part sick of children and grand children bullshit, part bitchy. But i love bacon part, entirely true.
I mean I think this is fantastic! Why is it considered being a jerk? I think all grandparents should do this ha!
Her house, her will, her rules. This isn't entitled sounding, it's "I'm at my wits end with my idiot family"
Geez think of all the s**t she had to put up with leading into this point
I don't agree with number 10 but I can get behind most of her points. Especially the bacon. At the same time, I'm not close with extended family and would not attend or host such a gathering anyway.
In one hit this sounds a bit demanding and opinionated, but damn I like this woman!
So it's hatred cause she spoke the truth? She hated certain family members. She shouldn't be described as a bad or unloving grandmother She should be prasied for living her truth
Load More Replies...I think this is here because of grandma's family acting entitled every time
I don't know, i sortof like this one. I wonder though if it is fake? At any rate "latest new wife" takes the cake.
“Volunteer To Wait On My Family At Thanksgiving”
Great. She can do the same for me when I need my 5 indoor kitties fed, watered and poopy-scooped twice a day for a week while I'm at my family reunion. Oh, wait. Where'd she go?
Invite Us To Your Thanksgiving! But Only If You Have These Things And We Will Only Bring Dessert. Tia
This Thanksgiving may have been the most expensive one for the host so far. How come? Well, it turns out that agricultural economists, farmers and grocery executives predicted that nearly every component of the traditional American Thanksgiving dinner, from the disposable aluminum turkey roasting pan to the coffee and pie, come at a higher price this year.
Interestingly, last year, the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 was the lowest it had been since 2010, the American Farm Bureau reported. So what on earth has happened? Turns out that last year, during the height of the pandemic, everyone was laying low with celebrations, and very few people were buying groceries for big gatherings. Grocery sellers were keeping the prices of the Thanksgiving staple—turkey—pretty low to attract the shoppers.

But after the global vaccination, the world has opened up and big gatherings resumed as if they had never stopped. So did the demand for turkey and other foods, whose prices have been soaring rapidly this past year.
The New York Times suggests that we shouldn’t look for a single culprit to explain the phenomenon. According to them, the nation’s food supply has been battered by a knotted supply chain, high transportation expenses, labor shortages, trade policies and bad weather. Inflation is at play, too.
A Thanksgiving Choosing Beggar Who Thinks Meals Should Be Free
I don't see a problem with this? If she's no takers, then no one with $15 is interested. But I bet there are people that can swing for that amount that can't or don't want to cook their own dinner. She's not expecting homeless people to buy it.

“Name Brand Only” Thanksgiving
Numbers also speak for themselves. The Consumer Price Index for food was up 4.6 percent from a year ago in September, while the prices for meat, poultry, fish and eggs soared a whopping 10.5 percent. For those wondering what’s up with the sky-high turkey prices, it may have to do with the fact that the price of corn, which most commercial turkeys feed on, more than doubled in some parts of the country from July 2020 to July 2021.
The Department of Agriculture turkey report released on Friday has also stated that whole frozen birds already cost 25 cents/pound more than they did a year ago. With much bigger holiday celebrations than last year, the demand for festive foods is likely not going anywhere, so there’s a slim chance you’ll get your hands on a turkey bargain.

Leftovers and reposts! Just terrible, I tell you. This post has just ruined my poor, hermaphroditic, conjoined childrens' last Thanksgiving, because they are dieing of gangrenous hemmeroids, cancer of the hair follicles and super AIDS. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves! As recompense, I demand $1000 for every post that's on here. (Just wanna say, all that was sarcasm)

I was just thinking this. It was never this bad, before 2000 ish? Not sure. But how did it get so bad? People don't get their way, and they won't budge. Or if someone won't give in, that person is automatically selfish and the cause of problems where others suffer. I really am curious as to why this is so bad. Sure, some people were never told 'no'. Some people just don't stand up to these people, so their behavior is basically enabled. But why else? If this wasn't a big issue before, how and why is it so bad? I want to understand what happened. (Sorry for the rant)
Load More Replies...This is about the 7th post this week where people can share how horrible their friends and family are on Thanksgiving. Does BP have any new ideas?
I wish they'd instead share the ways people went out of their way to care for each other or were in the giving spirit this year. Enough of the cynical crap.

I'm so glad my country doesn't have any thanksgiving-like holiday, even christmas with just parents and one of my sisters is a bit chaotic.. Couldn't imagine whole family x.x
Some of these seem to outrageous to be real...Maybe I've lived a too sheltered life? I dunno...With things on the internet, anything can be made up, twisted and manipulated. I want to give benefit of doubt to folks, but daaaaaayuuuuuum...I kinda don't want to believe there are folks out there that entitled...
I can't imagine the scale of Thanksgiving in the US. Can you not just... miss one year if you can't afford it? Does it have to be a gigantic meal with turkey and trimmings? Can't you just get together with family over a few beers, or just chill at home?
Dodo, I agree. For my family (me, my husband and son), we spend a relaxed day at home and never have the huge turkey dinner that seems traditional. It seems a dubious holiday, at best. We spend a moment sharing what each of us is grateful for. That seems a better way to spend the day.
Load More Replies...Yep. This is the world we live in. People don't get taught the difference between right and wrong anymore; Only "What is in it for me and my immediate gratification"
Wow, just wow. We don’t have Thanksgiving here, but just like Christmas, isn’t the company you have more important than the food? Yeah, it’s nice to have a fancy meal, but it’s not the be all and end all of an occasion. We have extended family Christmas and we take turns hosting it, but everyone pitches in and brings food or drinks. Honestly, I wouldn’t care if it was eating bread and butter as long as I was with those I loved
These people are very messed up in the head, surely they have a lot of mental and emotional problems and obviously we not raised right. Sounds awful to be them. They probably don't even understand why no one wants to be around them. Many probably only think of themselves because they've been in survival mode all their life. And done of them might literally be sociopaths, there's that too. But honestly I just feel bad for them.
When did it become something to be proud of that you are a beggar? I was raised that you should be happy/ proud when you can help others less fortunate. And if you are on the needing end, you ask quietly and work your ass off to get out of that situation. I still find the thought of bankruptcy humiliating ( it equals failure).
I can't truly grasp the audacity in these people. If you can call them that. When someone extends kindness, either accept with gratitude or decline with grace. Never ever believe others owe it to you. If growing up poor has thought me anything, it's okay to be lacking in material things as long as your dignity is in tact.
Most of this list was just Board Panda and Pandas shaming poor people and non native speakers. Really disappointed and disgusting right now.
it DEFINITELY does. It's just a lot more public and focused in America.
