In the 1950's in the US, the TOTAL number of diabetes cases was at 1.7 million people, roughly 90% of those cases were TYPE !. Then the US saw the rise of fast and processed foods. Today, there are roughly 38 million diabetes cases in the US. Around 1.7 million are type 1, after seeing the population nearly double. 95% of type 2 cases come down to being overweight, and living a sedentary life, No, you don't have to be fat to get type 2, though 95% of people with it are, you do have to have a diet rich in sugar, fat, and processed foods. At which point your body can no longer produce enough insulin to process sugar. Type 2 is a self inflicted disease, as evidence by the fact that some (not all) are able to reverse the disease by exercise and overhauling poor diets. Acknowledging reality isn't being bigoted.

Even if you are correct with your percentages and your view that overweight people are entirely to blame for being overweight, you're writing off 5% of roughly 36.3 million people (in one country). It's not an insignificant number of people. But those people also should suffer in the way you advocate the rest should suffer due to those other people's poor choices? Or do you only acknowledge the portion of this reality you allege that allows you to condemn people to suffering?

Yes. This is obvious to me even though I don't really struggle with it myself. Just look at the differences among animals. There are obviously very different physiologies among people and I would love to be able to transfer the self-righteous thin people into the bodies of people who struggle with weight and see if they still find it so easy. 95% of people are overweight because they eat too much and move too little. 95% of type 2 diabetes cases are caused from eating diets high in sugar, and carbs (which is metabolized into sugar) along with all manner of processed garbage and alcohol (which is also metabolized into sugar) Go anywhere outside the US and people will be disgusted by the portion sizes that Americans find to be common, doubly so by the fact that it all comes from a box, can, or is prepared in a microwave.

For the vast majority of people, yes, yes it does. The fact that their are outlying causes, doesn't change the fact that 95%+ are overweight because they consume huge portions of processed sugar filled garbage 3 meals and the only exercise they get is walking to their cars. In the context of developing type 2 diabetes, yes 95% of cases are caused by exactly that....eating too much garbage quality sugar filled food and moving too little. Everyone that develops type 2 diabetes does so because they consume high sugar, high carb, highly processed diets. It's not a point of debate. It's a risk we've known about for decades.

Wait, you have now escalated to saying that "EVERYONE that develops type 2 diabetes does so because they consume high sugar, high carb, highly processed diets"? And I think the National Institues of Health would absolutely debate you on that point. Are those behaviors risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes? Yes, that is known and has been for a long time. But I wonder why you're so eager to condemn everyone who suffers from that disease and dismiss the genetic component that the experts are clearly saying is a factor. That might be something for a psychologist to consider. I am not a psychologist but I suspect you are getting a self esteem boost from doing so because it is an area you do not struggle with.

Yes, i misspoke there. Only 15 million are Morbidly obese, by today's standards. Yes, you can get "lean diabetes" by consuming the same shitty high suger, high carb (or possibly high alcohol) while having good genetics. It is still self inflicted. But It doesn't change the fact that 90-95% of type 2 diabetes are overweight. (despite what google has told you) In 1960, the average weight of women was 110-125lbs, while men were between 145-160. Today, the average weight for women is 165-180, while men are 198-213. Certain demographics fare worse than others, but the one consistency is that as average weight has swelled, type 2 instances have skyrocketed, while type 1 has remained mostly unchanged despite double the population. You can get lung cancer without ever having smoked anything in your life, it still doesn't change the fact that smoking makes it not only possible, but likely that you will eventually get lung cancer. There isn't any debate over the cause of type 2.

Yet you repeatedly refuse to mention the genetic factor in all your information because of an apparent need to keep it as entirely a character issue that you can condemn.
