The Cream I Ordered With My Coffee At A Swiss Cafe Was Served Inside Of A Chocolate Treat
when you buy a sealed cup of iced coffee at a store in switzerland, it comes with a cookie hidden under the foil sealed lid
I like this, but I hope they mention this when you order, to make sure there is nothing you are allergic to. I often go to cafes where they give you a complimentary cookie but they put it on top of the stirring spoon. This means that I can't use the spoon, because I can't have even traces have traces of gluten. They never mention that they do this when you are ordering, so if you haven't been there before you don't know to ask them not to.
Yours truly is actually quite a huge fan of Switzerland. I spent a year living there when I was a very small child. I ‘blame’ that wonderful experience for my enduring love for the mountains, hiking, snow, gorgeous landscapes, giant chess sets (hi, Parc des Bastions!), and wild nature. Some of my earliest and most vivid memories are from going on walks in the mountains with my tiny little boots.
So, I genuinely understand the fascination with the country. To me, Switzerland represents freedom, nature, and beauty. But I’m a bit biased!

Alas! Not everything is great in this Alpine paradise. It’s this same powerful banking sector that has earned Switzerland a reputation for corruption and secrecy. It's a reputation that the Swiss have been trying to shake off for a while now.
A 2018 study conducted by the Tax Justice Network, an independent international advocacy group, found that the country was the most corrupt in the entire world, with the United States coming in second place.

I Got The All-Clear To Travel Within Switzerland - An Empty Train With A Great View
One Word: Switzerland
Probably all stacked there because they're not allowed to actually use the containers on a Sunday (too noisy) - or maybe that's just Germany.
In this case those are all full and people stack them in front of the containers. This happens from time to time and while it's annoying to just take them back home again the situation in this pic creates a whole lot more work for the people from the "Werkhof". Which is also the reason why there is usually a sign to forbid this kind of thing 🤷♀️😅 funniest for me is the fact, the glass is still organized by colour 😁
Load More Replies...Looks like the dumpster in my apartment complex on the weekends - it gets full because it's not emptied on Sunday, so (lazy) people just throw trash bags on the ground next to it. ;) This is much more civilized though.
They put these bins across the street from me. They would come by at 2:00 am and empty these by having a crane lift them, the bottom releases and the bottles come crashing down into the truck, like a bomb going off. I organized a letter-writing campaign and they finally came during the day to empty them. geez.
What am I seeing? Is that trash cans people are refusing to use? Or are they full?
This is called recycling. But the bottles are either stacked here because the containers are full (perhaps on 1 January) or because they aren't allowed to making the smashy noises on a Sunday (Switzerland, like Germany, has strict rules ensuring a peaceful Sunday).

I was an au pair for a disabled lady. We shared one of these with the flat above. They had a visitor that would leave the emergency lock on when they had finished using it. I had to walk up the rail to get to the chair and unlock it so we could use it. Their visitor didn't need to use it, she was just too lazy to walk upstairs, she left it locked and then walked back downstairs to go out. If I hadn't had great balance and grippy soled shoes, she would've had to walk upstairs to unlock it herself when she got back.

I wonder if the coins are like that too? In Mexico, you can put your hand in your pocket and tell by the sizes of the coins how much you have. I really wish that my country had currency like that!
I think a few countries do that - I know the UK's money is. On the front of the notes (the side with raised print), the value can be identified by the number of clusters of raised dots in the top left corner. The £5 has none, the £10 has two, the £20 has three and the £50 has four clusters. The coins are deliberately very different for the same reason.

In Switzerland There Are Sockets That Fit 3 Plugs At A Time
Swiss sockets are bloody annoying as a foreigner though, this type of socket doesn't work with the kind of adapter you can have for France or Germany. The 2 pins part is the same but if the "body" of your plug is round rather than this funny not-quite-hexagon, you can't use it. And they don't have these sockets everywhere so you can be in some places with the adapter you already have and it all works fine, then you go to another location with this type of socket and suddenly you're scuppered! I do know the solution is to buy another adapter but I hate having things that get rarely used!
Jeez, first-world problems or what? Yes, some people don't do their homework, so I make sure there's at least one adaptor in each of our rental apartments, but it's not exactly rocket science to check in advance. Italy also uses a different, unique, plug type, so it's not just CH.

Exactly! I know plenty of people who say "cycling's fine if it's flat" but ignore the fact that you get used to the hills and it's good for you! Where there's a will (and relatively good baseline health), there's a way. For people who say "cycling's fine if it's sunny", just get good outdoor gear. People cycle in all weathers in Germany too. If more people demand good cycling infrastructure and it is integrated into city planning, literally everyone benefits.

Well...I'm swiss. It depends where you are in Switzerland. In the southern part (Ticino) people are more relaxed, influenced by the neighbour Italy. So is the cuisine; polenta is a speciality (grounded corn) and of course more southern pasta dishes.
