“What Is One Strange Thing You’re Addicted To?”: 30 Odd Things Our Community Can’t Live Without
Some people (if not all of them) have something they cannot live without. Be it a video game, a particular brand of chocolate, or some sort of before-going-to-sleep ritual, there's always that one (or more) thing that brings them comfort and makes life just a little bit easier.
However, while there are things we truly enjoy doing, eating, smelling, etc., sometimes those 'hobbies' of ours can get pretty addictive. Thinking about that, I got curious about some of the strangest addictions that our pandas have. Scroll down to read the answers!

Being alone, if you know you know.
Completely agree with you @Gloria Bethallen. And to all of you who wonder: there's an immense difference between being lonely OR being ALONE.
Load More Replies..."Whoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god" -Aristotle
I'd like to say god...... But I'm afraid wild beast is all I've got.....and that beast is a sloth.....
Load More Replies...I like being alone, but I also like knowing one other person is in the house in another room.
To me, that is the most peaceful and comforting feeling
Load More Replies...Yup. I would never want to live with another human again. Just me and my cat.
I love it but hate it at the same time. I guess it depends what mood I’m in
Very much so for me. My mom knows no talking to me for an hour after I wake up.
Load More Replies...Yes but then those people always talk to you and you let out the biggest sigh ever and theyre like “whats wrong” and you cant say you find them annoying so u just say “nothing…”
Yes, finally allowing myself the space I've always needed has made me happier when I choose to be around people.
Reading, I've got to have a book with me at all times. I've even ducked into a bathroom during parties to read for a little bit.
About 4000 books condescend to let me live here, wedged in between. All I have to do in exchange is read.
Oh my goodness. I would love to see your house. I only have ~3,000 books in my house, more on my Kindle. They are everywhere: on top of doors, in the washrooms, in the bedroom, in the library, in the family room, in the kitchen. When my husband and I got together, I told him I came with a little over 1,000 books. Then my father died and I got 600 more (most of his books went to the National Library, then to a collector, the rest was divided in between the 5 of us, and the balance was given to a thrift store). I bought some in between and I'm still buying some now. I need to stop.
Load More Replies...I have done this all my life. A book is like having a good friend with you. Often I would prefer the book in all honesty.
I always have one on my iPad, a different one on my phone, and a physical one. I read 3 different genres to not confuse the stories.
Yessss - Fantasy people, I reccomend Brandon Sanderson. The guy writes faster than I can get my hands on his books. Seriously, like 4 major novels/year and they're all my favorite of all time
Music. It gives me infinite access to stories and alternate worlds and keeps me in a good place mostly. But one time after a concert, I had a comedown and depression episode that lasted weeks.
I read your nice comments and feel so bad. I suffer from severe depression and I can't listen music anymore cos it makes me feel even worst. I only want silence and I know this is a very bad sign. I won't wish this mental state not even to the worst person on earth.
Please seek help! It sounds as if you are dangerously low.
Load More Replies...The Beatles, anyone? (Read any of my other comments and you'll find that I am beyond obsessed)
ah i swear i had to literally quit being a metalhead because i was mentally unstable and felt like SH1T without the music. still not over it and prob never will be LOL
Same here, a metalheart is hard to tear apart. ;)
Load More Replies...I have music anhedonia so the opposite is true for me - listening to music stresses me out and distracts me. Music anhedonia means the rewards center of my brain don't work like normal when it comes to music. I learned about this several years ago and had a big "aha!" moment as to why I could never find music I really enjoyed, why I dislike dancing, why I prefer silence to music. About 5% of people have total music anhedonia, but it's not an either/or condition. My level is really high but occasionally I can enjoy listening to music, for about 10 minutes and only if I get to choose what I listen to and when (even then, I tend to get bored or annoyed very quickly and shut it off). I know this will probably seem a bit appalling to people who really enjoy music - because it's the way my brain works, I don't feel at all like I'm missing anything, and am very happy listening to nothing at all.
Me too to some extent. The amount I like is tiny and I'd far rather have peace.
Load More Replies...off topic question did u ever play sky children of the light?
Load More Replies...Music. I wake up every morning with a song in my head. A daily ear worm. Could be a fugue from the 1700s - jazz from the 1940s - 1950s bee-bop - 1970s disco - 1990s grunge - or anything in between. Music is my life. I have a soundtrack.
Cheese.
Aha! Is this bc cheese or bc addiction and getting your hit? EDIT: Pandas - no need to downvote Petros - Come on guys!
Load More Replies...Sweet dreams are made of cheese Who am I to dis a Brie I cheddar the world and a Feta cheese Everybody's looking for Stilton Some cheese wants to be Bleu, too Some cheese wants to be Buchette d'Anjou Some cheese wants to be cubed Some cheese will be braided by you
I didn't know that The Eurythmics had a new version out! Or are you Weird Al? Either way, I find this song a bit cheesey. Good job!
Load More Replies...Just had a slice of sheep’s cheese, a couple of buffalo mozzarella and a slice of buffalo ricotta with a drizzle of honey and some homemade bread. All the cheese is from a five km radius and the wheat for the flour grows just down the road. Heaven.
That snack would be a spiritual experience. You are so fortunate. Thanks for sharing your beautiful cheese words with us. If only sexting were this good.
Load More Replies...Bored panda. Won't survive a day without the cat memes.
I never really cared about cat memes until I got my first cats last year so I can relate :) whatever memes you like are the best memes!
Load More Replies...Dishonor. Dishonor on you, dishonor on you family, dishonor on your cow. I feel lied to
Load More Replies...I haven't seen enough posts about derpy cats or dogs on Bored Panda lately. I prefer the posts that are light hearted or interesting, not the "was I in the wrong for exsisting?" kind of posts.
Knitting and crocheting. Totally weird for a bloke in his 50s, I guess.
Aww bless y'all! Yep it keeps my brain active (all that counting rows / stitches) and I love the challenge of finding a new stitch type and trying to master it. Never ends, there's always something new to learn.
And you can find so many free patterns online; I've crocheted so much this year and most have been free patterns. I've also learned new stitches and used YouTube to help with stitches that were too confusing just reading. Also a good way to give someone a special gift; handmade gifts seem to be appreciated more than store bought
Load More Replies...Ditto! Not weird in the least. Knitting has been so therapeutic for me over the years.
Nothing wrong with a bloke in his 50s doing that. I tried to learn from my mom when I was younger. Never could get it though.
Not at all! Sailors used to knit, especially Fair Isle sweaters in the Shetlands. Tom Daley, Olympic diver, enjoys knitting, and Kafe Fasset is a designer of knitted wear.. I wish I could knit or crochet!
My mother and sister had a yarn/needlework shop and one of their best customers was a man who regularly won prizes for his work at county fairs.
Long naps. I arrange my whole schedule around them.
every time i nap i wake up feeling like im in another dimension after being asleep for 100,000,000 years
I wish. I wake up like of been ten rounds with Mike Tyson
Load More Replies...Definitely a problem of mine. Even if I'm not very sleepy, I can still lie down and wink out for at least a couple of hours. There's a comfort in sleeping without an alarm to jar you awake.
Same. I need all the naps I can get. My cats don't mind. One of them actually seduced me for snuggles and a snooze the other day.
Coffee. Must have it first thing in the morning or I get a headache, haha.
thats not strange at all about 1/3 of the worlds population is
The headache is a very real sign of dependence and the first sign of withdrawal. It goes away after a couple weeks. We go caffeine free every few months or so. Then, when we have a simple cup of coffee after having zero caffeine for a good long while, BOOM! The jitters, sweats, and mind race. It’s crazy.
It's crazy how much coffee can affect you. I gave it up when pregnant and when I started drinking it again I felt like I was panicking my heart was racing so quickly.
Load More Replies...VERY common addiction. I confess to my doctor about my coffee addiction because I was concerned for my health. At that time I was drinking 4 to 5 cups before noon. He chuckled a bit and then told me to come back when I was drinking more than two pots of coffee a day.
I have ADHD and coffee puts me to sleep. it SUCKS SO BAD I am so jealous of people who drink it and get all perky.
i drink a rediculous amount of coffee every day and have for nearly three years. I'm surprised I'm not addicted, lol.
Not strange, but definitely a drug addiction. It's just a legal one.
My wife. I can't imagine my life without her. I can't think of words to express how much she means to me, I won't even try. A close second would be playing my bass. Arthritis and carpal tunnel since my 20s. It seems to keep my hands working and I can tell when I don't play.
I love how you express yourself. My husband keeps repeating your first part to me mostly because I'm accident prone and get in trouble. He plays the flute, the recorder and the violin. I love listening to him play. He writes music too.
Thank you for your kind words. I have a little.,cheap recorder that I try to play, but I only know the bass solo from and old Carnivore song called Male Supremecy. I dont my wife is too impressed with my playing but she does sing so sometimes, if the song is right, we will play together. To me,those are the times that words fail and music expresses what we feel.
Load More Replies...Awww make sure you tell her that. My husband repeatedly says he’d be lost without me because I center and ground him (combat PTSD). I never get sick of hearing how much I mean to him, and I make sure he knows I don’t work right without him.
It's a bit cheesy but I have to agree. Only 17 years and far from perfect. But my marriage is the greatest achievement of my life.
That's so sweet. I'm sure your wife appreciates it more than anything, and I wouldn't be surprised if she feels the same. I wish you and your wife many, happy and loving years (and good health).
My missus is my other half. We’re always together and I ache when we’re not.
I tried to play a gar once, but it was too much of a pain so I gave up.

Peeling. Do you have a sunburn? Stay away unless you want me peeling the skin. Used to put Elmer's glue in my hands, let it dry, and then peel it. Friends had an 11ft python and I was in my glory when he asked if I wanted to help him shed its skin. I'm convinced I was a reptile in a former life.
I once peeled a piece of sunburn 3" square, I can still remember the triumph
It's a great feel. I had peeled, in nearly one perfect sheet the top of my mom's thigh. It was a glorious accomplishment. She just laughed at her wierd child
Load More Replies...I'm currently bleeding horribly because my scab looked so delectable to peel 😃
I have severe eczema. When it's been really bad and my entire body has been weeping, when it finally heals my skin becomes smooth and tight (and exceptionally painful as every movement cracks it). The next day, I will lose an entire layer of skin. Like every inch will peel off. I've peeled 6-8 inch strips off my body. As embarrassing as it is seeing an entire layer of skin peel all over the place, it's satisfying peeling it off
My dream is to one day find a buffalo or a moose that would let me peel the molting fur off their antlers and backside.
You could probably borrow a husky, they are immensely satisfying to remove the floof. I stopped to talk to one on holiday, it was moulting, my husband dragged me away eventually
Load More Replies...You know, I'm so glad I posted this; so many people would make fun of me and tell me I'm wierd and gross. I'm happy I'm not the only one and others see the appeal and satisfaction 😊
Don't peel at reptile's stuck shed!! It hurts them if you pull it off because it goes in between the scales. Problems shedding is usually due to humidity or nutritional issues. (Please note that I am a person who spends HOURS digging at my skin and nails but doing it to a shedding reptile isn't nice)
Oh, you woulda loved me after my chemical burn. Had a couple square feet peel away.
Ouch. Chemical burn is no joke. I would've been hesitant because I'd be afraid to peel skin that wasn't quite ready; overpeel is just cruel after any burn
Load More Replies...My mother and I are peelers. Complete stranger with a sunburn? Let us help...
My sisters and I peeled each other’s sunburns! We’d put lotion on it, wait and it will peel even better!
Listening to TV shows, repeatedly. I've watched the first 3 seasons of Burn Notice at least 50 times and the first few seasons of Ghost Hunters around 20 times. I don't even really pay attention, I just like to have familiar sounds in the background. It calms my brain. If there isn't something playing, I'll get anxious, paranoid and scared. Truly strange!
I started watching that again. I had forgotten how funny that show is.
Load More Replies...Try Relic Radio podcasts. They have different genres of old radio dramatizations which are made to be listened to. TV programs are written to be watched and you often miss a lot of the storyline when you look away. The old sci-fi radio shows are great entertainment just listening to how people thought things would be in the 2000's, and the things that they never thought about... "a crime has been committed in the Mars colony in the year 2003! QUICK, get to a payphone!"
Me too! My "background" shows are Archer and Mysteries at the Museum 💕 total addict.
Oh, I do this for a couple hours every evening. I play a game on my tablet while I listen. The shows I constantly revolve through are Game of Thrones (currently watching), Criminal Minds, Outlander, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Silicon Valley, Jessica Jones, The Good Place and Justified. Seen them all so many times.
I used to work at a TV station as a MCO for a few years and if there was silence that meant the station was off air and that was bad. So now I can't sleep w/o having a series playing on my tv. I can't play just a movie because when it's over and there is no noise I jump awake thinking the station if off air!!
My fiance had parents that wouldn't shut the tv off. He also has to have the noise to get to sleep because of anxiety! But we put on let's plays. He doesn't really care about the yelling and laughing and gunfire, I try to be nice about it. But he can at least stay asleep with the right white noise set for 8 hours.
Load More Replies...On holidays when my children would go with their dad, I'd miss them so much that I would keep cartoons on in the background.
Grey's Anatomy, seasons 1-16 three times. Pretty sure I'm an honorary doctor by now!
Bath time and Bobs Burgers. It makes me feel like I spent time with a family. Not in a sad way. Or Fraiser. I finish one of the series, on goes the next one.
Allegedly true horror stories. I am obsessed with these and I listen to them non-stop.
MrBallen is an amazing storyteller when it comes to true crime and the strange and unusual in story format
I got curious and looked up MrBallen - even after watching one vid only, I'm hooked. Creepy and spooky true stories.
Load More Replies...im addicted to analog horror myself... psychological horror is the best/worst and my adrenaline addicted a*s is like YEEEEEEAAAHHH MAKE ME FEAR BEING ALIVE YEEEEEAAH
Listen to Ten Minute Murder on Pandora! I live for it! Its really good and very interesting.
I do this with Cryptid stories. The funny thing is they have to be American (I'm British) and preferably set in national parks!
Have you heard of Corpse Husband? He narrates true crime, and his voice is perfect for the stories!
That was me with the HorrorStudio1 Youtube channel for the longest time X> all kinds of true horror stories narrated. I should get back to it.
I’m sorry, my current addiction phase is dash cam videos of idiot drivers. I can’t turn away!
It does help. do sometimes yell at the idiots, like people yell at the tv during a sports game. Lol!
Load More Replies...You soon learn that insanity can come out of nowhere and it's hard to get out of the way.
Yes! Is it me or do they seem like they and their cars run on vodka? And they never seem to break up as bad as cars in the US. (Sometimes anyway.)
Load More Replies...I fell into this a few months back. The amusing part about these videos is how self-righteous many of the drivers with dash cams were and they were clearly the ones in the wrong. lol
Don't even need dash cam footage. Just sit beside any intersection with some popcorn.
I LOVE THESE. "How did you not see them coming!?" "BRAKE!" "Turn! To the left to the left."
Chapstick. For about 35 years now. My lips no longer produce moisture on their own. And it has to be a Chapstick brand, no other will do. Any flavor, but cherry is my preferred.
I'm hearing 🎶 I kissed a girl and I liked it... The taste of her cherry Chapstick🎶
Chapstick brand contains a chemical that *causes* your lips to dry out, salicylic acid. Same stuff thats in wart remover.
Chap stick is wax made to seal in moisture, If your lips aren't moist, it seals OUT moisture. Put some lotion on your lips and be done.
Same, but with Blistex. I have about 5 in my purse and one in every room in arm's reach. Even when I wake up in the middle of the night I reach for it on my night stand. I must have gone through about a thousand tubes in the past 35 years.
My sister always has a tube of Blistex in her pocket. She misses it like her phone or keys if she accidentally forgets it.
Load More Replies...Mine also! Did get a cake batter flavor for Christmas one year from the hubs and it was so good! So was a watermelon lime flavor.
We can also find them at the dollar store. I always ask my husband if he wants to kiss before I put some on, just in case he has an urging 5 minutes after... We've been married 30+ years. My youngest son's wife does the same, after she caught us, and he really appreciates it.
When you suddenly loose your Car Chapstick, and forgets where you put your bag Chapstick.you'll end up taking your bedroom Chapstick to the car. And then.. Then everything is kaos!!
Dude I have to carry around a lip balm with me everywhere or else I go bonkers feeling like my lips are dry. I dunno how everyone else does it.
Hoodies. More specifically oversized hoodies. And throw blankets. And stuffed animals.
Stuffed animals, I can definitely relate to. I’d buy dozens if I had the room for them all
I recently got an oversized fleece lined hooded robe and it's the best self care $40 can get you. 😆
baggy hoodies is my personality - im always buying more and always wearing one
Having a day off, a large hoodie with comfy lounge pants, blankets and a stuffie makes for a perfect day. Bonus points if the weather is rainy.
Pimple-popping videos. I can’t get enough. I watch TV and videos on my phone at the same time for hours. And they better do it right, or I will ‘dislike’.
Oh my god same. It’s so horrifying and fascinating at the same time
I could see it in a "morbid fascination" way. Not something I could ever be into though, as I tend to smell the things I see. I know that sounds dumb, but for example if I see a picture of a carrot on my phone, I will smell carrots. It's not all things, and I don't know what f****d up logic my brain uses to choose when it will do this. Just my luck, it would be one of these videos, and I don't even want to imagine 🤢
Load More Replies...But in our culture all Autumn must do is put on a white coat, learn a S**T TON of stuff, and she can get paid to pop pimples. Blammo, it goes from disgusting to medically fascinating.
Load More Replies...Yes! Drives me nuts when they drag it out, but then when it’s done I’m disappointed it’s over.
Watching theses videos actually helped me to stop picking on my skin. And every time I catch myself going through my chin looking for something, I know it's time for pimple-popping videos.
Hell yeah. The best of the best. Utterly disgusting, but addictive!!
Load More Replies...welp. That just took me down the Dr. Pimple Popper hole.. gosh that's interesting stuff. Can't look away
Binge-watching YouTube videos I have zero intention of ever doing/trying myself. E.g. truck driving, dumpster diving, and furniture upcycling.
I like watching various versions of The Voice around the world. Just the blind auditions though. Australia, the US, Germany and the Netherlands seem to be my favourites. Oh and Portugal!
I highly recommend dumpster diving - it kept my apartment well furnished during my teens and early twenties.
Salt. I just love the taste. I sometimes will just get a teaspoon of it in my hands and eat a few grains at a time. Obviously, I am extremely dehydrated after that but I make sure I get plenty of water. I also tend to add a lot of salt to dishes lol.
I loved eating salt as a kid! Especially salt on raw tomatoes. Now that I'm older and have more than half family members with hypertension, I've learnt to control my addiction 😆
YESS on raw tomatoes!!! My whole life I never cared too much for tomatoes or most tomato based sauces, but I LOVE eating tomatoes with salt! (and tomatoes on a BLT, I'm not a monster)
Load More Replies...Yes, my doctor told me to continue to be a saltaholic because my sodium was low. I always liked pickle juice and green olive juice because of the sodium.
Load More Replies...I sprinkle salt into my palm and eat it straight. I eat the salt out of the bottom of pretzel bags. When I was a kid, I ate the rock salt my parents got for the sidewalk... lol (and yes it was the same as table salt, not that green poisonous stuff!) Contrary to popular opinion, my blood pressure is quite low. :P
i eat salt of fresh vegetables and lots with salad never by it's own lol i guess i understand tho it tastes nice after the burning saltiness
finally, this is a weird addiction. I have heard of the exact same BUT with sugar NEVER WITH SALT
Grandmother liked to salt her bananas. I tried it. Wow good.
Load More Replies...Yup. I felt just like it/her as a kid. Couldn't get enough salt.
Load More Replies...When I was little we had one of those hand crank ice cream maker things. They require rock salt.... I still eat rock salt occasionally. I love the crunch.
Plants.
Honey, I think they entire world would be dead without plants.
Mine is seeds, to grow into plants. Haven't enough room to grow everything but I live seeing a tint seed sprout.
Me too. If all the world plants died overnight, I think I would just die too !
Just had a friend talk about how they brought back like 20 plants for their house yesterday. A more healthy addiction, usually, as long as nobody around has allergies :D
My all time addiction, I have had to buy acreage to accommodate them, even though I had half acre to begin with, now 5 acres of garden that I just cant seem to stop doing. Thirteen years later and I'm still planting. I have had this 'addiction' for over 40 years, sure keeps me healthy:)
To Ice cream Sarang. Most definitely. Plants and human and animal life need each other to live. Otherwise everything would die.
Spider Solitaire. Been addicted since 1999. Someone gave me a hand-held game that I took abroad. Three months later, I was on an African safari and playing solitaire instead of watching for animals. I play at least 30 minutes a day.
I can spend ages on Spider or Pyramid (actually any of the Microsoft ones) solitaire!
I have 2 friends that are "addicted" to Spider Solitaire. I've asked them to teach me but each said no because its so addictive
It's easy. YouTube how to. You'll be addicted in no time! Have fun!
Load More Replies...It's the game I go to when I'm in pain/anxious in a public place or right before bed. Tbh I can't imagine playing solitaire while having that opportunity in travel.
Had to break that addiction, wasn't getting enough sleep, but still have it on my phone for those moments of biredom
Buying pens. Whenever I have had a rough day it always makes me feel better to buy a pack of pens
Yes! Collect all the notebooks and pens! Until you try to use one of your many notebooks for something and then get that weird anxiety over whether you’re wasting the notebook or not, and you gotta make every page look perfect and neat and tidy with your penmanship or else you need to rip the page out and ruin the notebook…..(please tell me it’s not just me)
Load More Replies...I would keep them in a special room and call it the Pen-itentiary
Check out JetPens online. Disclaimer: I am not in any affiliated with the company whatsoever, but it's a fun site for those of us with a pen addiction. Just sayin'
Theatre. And by that I mean the stage itself. I'm a theatre actress and the last two (Corona) years I noticed that I'm feeling physically bad if I don't do a few plays throughout the year. It's not the applause or the audience, it's just being on stage, reciting my lines, working with the colleagues, seeing the lights, smelling the unique odour... Sounds weird, I know.
It's not weird at all!! I also love theatre, and the last show I was in was part of a few one acts going on at my school (a chance for upperclassmen to direct short shows at the end of the year) and my directors stopped showing up so our show got cancelled and every other person in my one act was double casted in another or part of tech for another show and being the only one who was still there but not technically part of anything sent me into a bad mental state for a while. I tried to keep a positive attitude though.
Gosh sorry for the run-on sentence, I didn't realize how much I was typing with no punctuation lol
Load More Replies...It’s about expressing oneself in different ways we might not encounter in real life. Theatre is about discovering ourselves. Such fun too.👍🏻👍🏻❤️😎
Yes! I'm in my school musical this year, and while I have an ensemble part and the long rehearsals are truly exhausting (especially if I don't have food), I love it and I'm having a lot of fun.
There is something about the beauty of it. The smell even? I love the aesthetic!
I love theatre. Adore it. Being in the audience and (much to my shock) doing amateur stuff these days. Just love emerging myself in another world.
I’m not at all a buff and I spell it that way. I’ve seen it both ways and I just think that makes more sense.
Load More Replies...Yes! I feel the same thing with band. Making people happy, being with cool people, making inanimate objects sing, it never gets old!
Giving part of yourself to the character is mind-bending. Imagine being Gary Yates or Timmy Lewis and then coming back from that. Anthony Hopkins is the only one who seems to be able to do this. And yes, theatre is VERY addictive!!
Lego.
I kept all of my children's Lego for my grand-children but I have none. Maybe my husband will start playing with them again. I have tons.
The only thing I kept from my childhood, some even have their original box. 40+ years old
I don't have a habit for Legos but do like Legos. Plus wish I kept all my Legos that was bought for me plus the directions for them.
I adore Lego! Been buying sets for years, running out of places to put them in!
I FREAKING LOVE LEGOS. OH MY GOSH. I got to be on a robotics team where we built the robots with legos! It was so cool!
I have a friend who built a wedding cake with legos, or was it the couple on top of the cake, I forgot, but legos galore in her house.
Don't judge but... Wendy's nuggets dipped in chocolate frosty. It's really good.
Wendy’s fries and nuggies were MEANT to be dipped in chocolate frosty
Load More Replies...Although I prefer putting my fries in the vanilla frosty, but to be fair I generally prefer vanilla over chocolate with anything
Load More Replies...OMGNN NO I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY PERSON THAT DID THAT BUT I DO OT WITH THE BOT NUGGIES!!
I will not judge you for your addiction or your taste. But I will judge you, and harshly, for writing “nuggs.” 🫵🏼👨🏻⚖️
I’m on my way to Wendy’s right now, this submission is making me extra hungry 😭
Ice for some reason.
Absolutely true. I spent a couple years eating ice obsessively. I bought a kid's sno-cone maker just to make slushy ice at home. I was severely iron deficient.
Load More Replies...Tell your doctor this and PLEASE ask to have your hemoglobin checked. The world needs you still. ❤️
You really need to stop that, I did that in my twenties and I put microscopic cracks and all my back teeth, resulting in me having abscessed teeth in my thirties and having a lot of teeth pulled. You really need to stop chewing ice immediately! You will be paying for it in a few years!
I don't chew it but thanks for being concerned.😅
Load More Replies...Totally agree! I keep ice water with me 24/7 (even on my nightstand whilst sleeping)! I can't even drink water without ice unless I'm desperate - when I see that silly recommendation of drinking 64oz (1,900ml - 8 8oz glasses) of water per day I mad laugh because I've been drinking more than that within an hour of waking up since before I can remember!
Load More Replies...It's called pagophagia. I just learned that, and I'm pleased as heck.
I've done it my entire life and I'm not iron deficient. Dentists are always interested in the boney ridge on my upper and lower jaw because of chewing ice. Of course the downside is the loss of enamel on biting surface and cracking molars and now needing crowns.
We bought a countertop ice maker because our fridge ice maker couldn’t keep up with how much I eat ice cubes.
Please don't judge but...standing under the mist of a humidifier just for fun.
"Just for fun". As opposed to standing under a humidifier as a profession?
Cooking shows and YouTube videos of living off the grid or growing vegetables! They fuel my cooking creativeness!
I've been really getting into those recently, not so much the videos, but so many websites! I just make vegetable stock from scratch for the first time today! I also began planting my first lot of vegetables recently.
"Zero Waste Cooking". Well, nearly zero waste (not every scrap can be used) . It is challenging and fun to create new dishes with "whatchagot' .
My sunglasses. i never go out of my apartment without them. i wear them almost all year. i guess i make my eyes light shy.
probably light shy before the glasses. I'm pretty sensitive to light, too.
Yellow tinted sunglasses are especially good when it's raining. They clear out all the haze of the water.
Same here. I just got a pair for my husband for nighttime too. They work. On vacation, I bring my cheapest pairs (2-3) because I always end up losing a pair or two.
My sister does too- probably because her pupils rarely constrict (we call her devil child her pupils are huge). She always has at least one pair on her, plus at least one pair that she left somewhere :)
It will extend the life of your eyesight, if that makes sense? The sun ages our eyes, not just all the skin around them.
I'm vision impaired and have photophobia and extreme light sensitivity. Sunglasses are life.
I am short sighted and suffer from light sensitivity and occasional migraines so I wear sunglasses all the time (they're "regular glasses with prescribed dark lenses). My "regular" pair broke over a year ago, and I wear my sunglasses even at night, got pretty used to it and I just realize I'm wearing them when some people give me a weird look.
Same. I’m starting to suspect I’m a vampire. Can you inherit vampirism from say, your father? We’re basically night creatures, you know those goofy looking ones with eyes almost bigger than their head. We don’t do well with strong light.

I'm addicted to Bored Panda. It's not strange but, there I go, I admitted it.
sleeping. on weekends i usually sleep for 12 hours and i can actually sleep for more but I don't wanna waste my whole day.
Me too!! I recently found out that I have a severe vitamin D deficiency. Which is likely contributing to my need for sleep.
I don't see anything wrong with that. I've mentioned before, if I don't have to be anywhere or have to do anything early, I'll be sleeping-in.
Sounds like my sister- we thought she would outgrow it after her teens but so far hasn't :)
Books. It is better then watching movies, and make pain (litterarly pain from my injuries) manageable. It is also like pressing a button, and suddenly a large number of hours have magically passed.
But the sadness when a good book is finished and there is no second part.
Ah man, crisps! It's a serious problem! There's just too much deliciousness!
Hah, bless you, yes - in the UK, crisps are chips and chips are fries :)

Exercising.
This could be dangerous. If you work out compulsively you can have exercise addiction (anorexia athletica), and it is actually listed as a mental disorder. It can lead to body image issues and even muscle and cardiac atrophy. Get help, please!
You may be on to something here. My daughter used to go to the gym 3 times a day with different friends 5 times a week. Not sure how much she goes now. But I'm going to tell her about this. Thanks.

Sucking on lemons and limes. It's apparently very bad for your teeth but I do it anyway.
But there so good! I have a suggestion for you, eat everything including the peel! You'll love it!

Sour gummy worms. I mean, come on, you have to admit they're delicious. But I do really need to stop eating them
i have a problem in general with gummy candies. Can eat 1 Lb easily a day.

You mean H2O? Chemistry people or anyone who understands it can get it. Btw, it’s water for y’all who don’t know. Not tryna be disrespectful, I’m just saying.
I just looked this up. This is not good. I'm feeling pretty bad for you. I hope you find your way out of this addiction.
Dihydrogen monoxide is water right? A person can't survive more than 3 maybe 4 days without water and that's bout 72 hours. Where did he get the 168 hours from?
Carrots dipped in mustard. A friend had me try it at a birthday party a while ago, and I was super skeptical at first, but it is now my favorite snack. Don't judge until you try.
Carrots dipped in mustard? I love carrots and mustard, I'll give it a try.
I would say I used to be addicted to Minecraft, I would no joke play whenever I could.

It's good if you get muscle cramps or have restless leg syndrome (It's good if you get muscle cramps or have restless leg syndrome (because of the quinine. Magnesium is good for that too)
LOVE it! I can drink a 2-liter bottle in an hour, easy. Totally yummerifously delightful.
I think it's got medical backgrounds, and the gin and tonic was invented as it made the tonic sweeter
I now water it down half tonic half sparkling water...but I love it, always have some somewhere.
Lipstick: Reason 1. I can’t stand for my lips to be dry. I’ve tried lip balms/chapstick/etc. but I can’t stand the taste of 99% of them. Reason 2. Even on days when I oversleep and don’t have time to shower, lipstick helps make me look more “put-together”.
I feel this way about a spritz of perfume, I'm wearing a ratty cardigan, sweat pants, and slipper socks atm, and my hair is in a sloppy bun, but at least I smell like Maison Marigela Replica Whispers in the Library.
Caramel iced coffee!
Moomin series. Used to watch them all the time as a kid and that hasn't changed once I became adult. Except now I get to own as much cool merch and t-shirts as I want!
My son has the Moomin and the Wishing Star book. Moomintroll's father is not named in the book but is pictured so my so just calls him MoominHat. That has stuck.
I'm addicted to the Moomin books. I especially love Little My, perhaps because she reminds me of me.
Pebble ice. I get ice water every single day but it has to be from specific stores. My ice maker in the fridge just won't do. This might be less weird if I ate the ice but I don't...
Lol idk we don't have a sonic but I'm sure it is similar. Basically crushed
Load More Replies...That is the worst part! I had to make it in trays at the last place I lived so was excited about the ice maker! This is a recent development and I have no explanation lol!
Load More Replies...oooh yes. sonic ice is so good. I had a fridge that did crushed ice and i miss it so much. I wish my landlord would let me buy a better fridge. I've got one of those ugly old 80s monstrosities that will never die. I'd literally pay for it and he could just deduct if from my rent or something and he could keep it when i moved. I just want a better more modern fridge. Ugh...I miss crushed ice.
I bought a blender that was specifically for this reason. Used it multiple times a day.

That sounds perfect! Wish i saw these snacks in the hands of more kids these days x
Wait, what .... did you mention cheese? I think I've found a new friend :D
I am French, so yes there is a good chance that I like cheese. And the wine. And the snails (especially for the garlic butter). But not frog legs. For those who don't know, Roquefort is a raw sheep's cheese that develops green mold inside (Penicillium roqueforti) during ripening. It is a fairly strong cheese with a lot of character whose recipe dates back to at least the Middle Ages. a page (in French) on Roquefort: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roquefort_(fromage)#:~:text=Roquefort%20(%5B%CA%81%C9%94k(%C9% 99)f%C9%94%CB%90%CA%81,of%20raw%20milk%20of%20ewes.&text=Its%20better%20p%C3%A9period%20of%20consumption%20s%27%C3%A9tends% 20of%20January%20%C3%A0%20ao%C3%BBt.

Adjusting “stuff” to make work better, faster, smoother, etc. Cars, bicycles, computers, phones. Nothing is safe from my tinkering to find the ultimate settings. I even run my own VPN and ad blocking server just for my personal use.
As long as you don't have an extra piece at the end when everything is back together...
Chewing gum. I can eat more than 300 pieces a day. Chew until the flavor is gone, spit it out, and immediately follow it with the next piece. It is so bad that my jaw became crooked because of chewing on the same side for years.
If you are awake for approx 16 hours a day, that would mean about 19 pieces every hour. Wow. I would check with a doctor on that.
My friends dentist had to tell her to cut back because of something with the tooth enamel. Not sure if personal or gum related but I'd give it a look if I were you; she was a gum junky as well
Be careful, it often has a laxative affect, especially sugar free gum
I'm addicted to taking a single strand of hair and gently putting it inside my ear as far as it will go, and then twirling it between my fingers so it tickles deep inside my ear until I can't stand it any longer 😁 Always gives me a good shudder of delight and yes, there are differences between a good hair and a bad one for this practice 😃👉👂
... op.. you don't know if there is a difference between a good hair and bad one for doing it? Why the "???".

Relatable. That's actually the smell of fuel, and its a actually not good 4 u. But I still smell it and its soo satisfying 🤣
Diesel or gasoline(2-stroke) exhaust thru saltwater is perfume to me.
Hosta - the variety of sizes, leaf shapes, coloring, and patterns has captured me. I have dozens of different ones and can never resist a new or different one at the garden center.

Wow! I have so many hostas around my house put in by someone previously and I haaaaate them. I don't replace them, though, because they are hardy and require little maintenance.
It's weird but I feel relax when I inhale own body scented clothes.
I can so relate, but with my SO. He's one of those guys that likes to know how things work or learn new skills, and several years ago, he picked up sewing...but I digress...before his grandad passed away, he got really sick, and my SO went back to Leeds to stay with the Olds for a few months. Before he left, he cut up a few of his old t-shirts and made me a pillow cover so I could still give him a cuddle while he was away. Still sleep with that thing, every night.😊
I sorta understand but I majority do that with my families cologne filled shirts and my crush’s perfume.
I'm addicted to watching sitcoms for months on end, currently it's "Modern Family." When I finish the last episode, I go back to episode 1 and start all over again. I've watched the entire series, start to finish, well over 100 times and see no end in sight. Before "Modern Family," it was 94 complete viewings of "The Goldbergs." This all started during lockdown and the more the world explodes, the more I crave watching one show at a time, ad nauseum. I just feel more calm this way and can deal with the world a little better.
I've been watching Gravity Falls on loop for 9 months. Before that was the 70s Scooby Doo.
Me too! But with me it's Frasier. When "modern family" was on Netflix, I re-watched that to death. I need the familiarity and background noise ☺️
Translation. I translate free education systems (microbit.org, MakeCode and Moodle) into Hungarian, as a volunteer. I already translated some 115k words (250-280 fully-written letter-sized pages). It relaxes me, I can do it all day/night.
Interesting. I used to translate anything about natural family planning: books, letters, etc.
Sparkling water. ;)
Bread. Funny story, there’s a scientific reason for it. So I mostly eat it when I’m bored. Apparently, eating high carb foods (like bread) make your brain produce dopamine, and since I have adhd, i have dopamine deficit periods of time, and therefore crave high carb foods. Anyways I like bread. But not toast. Toast has a bad texture to me.
I LOVE bread, too. Especially those sweet Hawaiian rolls and sourdough bread.

I recently had to start buying the real stuff, because the imitation (which is all I used to buy because the price is so much cheaper) has sugars my body doesn't process properly and I can't get enough, though given the price I still have to put a limit on it lol. If only I'd brought more back with me when I visited Canada!

Green Tea and Chips.
LOVE LOVE Hot Green tea with lemon every day at 2:45 at work.....try it. And its good for you.

Cutting fabric and sewing it together. Not like into a pattern or anything specific, just two random shape sewn atop each other. And candles
Sewing certain fabrics is such a great feeling. The way the machine goes through a nice crisp cotton with perfect stitches and a crisp line

I dip my french fries in honey, have been doing it since I was a kid, still love it as 40-year-old.
Nerds gummy clusters. They look strange and I'm definitely addicted to them.
Tape. Like Scotch and surgical tape. I take pieces and stick them on my face and hands.
I couldn't do that- I'm allergic to too many of them :) but I loved using tegaderm as a kid, because it makes the skin under it squishy :)
Watching my cats' fur fly into the wind when I brush them outside--where does it all go to?
How do you get the wind to blow Away from you? As soon as I pull off the first floof the wind blows it right up my nose!
Grapes! Every time I get my hands on a plastic container of them (usually contains 4 bunches) they’d be gone in a week if my parents didn’t stop me! I can easily go through at least 3 bunches a day if I had the chance! Just something about them lol
I'm addicted to this little pointless free Mahjong game online from 247mahjong dot com. They have different 'themes' like Winter and Fall and Valentine's and Holidays etc. And in each theme there are like 10 different games. I've played every single one at least twice. I don't know why but I usually play the whole series and then go back and try to beat my own times. I've been doing it for years every night. I also have a weird 'addiction' to never drinking the last of a bottle. Every soda bottle or bottled water I have always has a few sips still left in it and I always throw it away. It's the weirdest thing and I keep trying to stop my self from doing it because it's so wasteful. I do it with food sometimes, too. I always make more than I'll probably eat.
i dont like drinking the last bit either of anything, its just spit; also if my soda/beverage goes flat, i will either dump it or give it to my bf , it just tastes nasty
Ribena. I have loved that stuff for as long as I can remember.

Candy corn, I don’t know why
Adding another answer but: Vocal stimming. I make a ton of random noises or sing random notes almost constantly and I’m sure it annoys my family a ton-
I do this too! Random singing, humming, robot or other movement related noises as I walk around. Makes me Happy and I do it without conscious thought. My wife tells me that she knows I'm happy and in a good mental space when I am doing this. Since I have had depression/anxiety for many many years now, I've noticed the mood connection too :)
breaking out into song like high school Musical
Once tried living like I'm in a musical. Dance numbers and singing everything. Unfortunately, mom reminded me that she brought me into this world, and she could take me out. Nothing good really rhymed with that so I stopped.
I'm so sorry, I shouldn't laugh. But it's pretty funny and she sounds like my Mom.
