That won't stop them sadly. Companies that are trying to exploit and destroy the Amazon commonly bribe local officials and hire mercenaries to murder or kidnap every native on the land they want before destroying it. Entire tribes have been wiped out or enslaved, and the Brazilian government have yet to be able to stop it. A legal victory won't do a thing if it can't be enforced.

Our world’s gone to hell in a hand basket. Let’s break down the formula using basic math, greed played a vital role in it and greed = corruption. Corruption = dystopian. And dystopian = hell.

Good! Oil companies, as well as many major corporations, are on a mission to destroy Nature’s beauty. Have it be drilling into the Earth’s core or clearing out and grazing trees and so many acres of land, not to mention hundreds of other methods used to simply make a buck. Lots of folks in the world, that are good hearted anyway, are fighting back against those big-wigs and it’s about time. Those big-wigs are on a mission to destroy and collect 💰 The Amazon Tribe is on a mission to send them bastards back to the hole they “drilled” out of

It isn't just Nature's beauty that they destroy when they destroy rainforests. I believe the Amazon is the planet's largest carbon sink.

They do feel through their shells, as the shell is a living part of the animal. They can feel pressure against it as well. If someone picks them up by the shell, they can feel the pressure points of the person's hands and fingers. It's inconceivable that they can't also feel pain. Being burnt is pretty much the most and longest lasting pain that can be survived. I can't imagine what the poor tortoise suffered. I'm very, very glad that he has a new shell and can now happily tortoise along.

Despite the educational value interesting facts promise to deliver us, it’s important to remember to double-check them and the sources they are coming from. This is because fake news spreads six times faster on social media than real facts. By trying to generate as many clicks as possible or even influence political views, it can be particularly dangerous.

In a previous interview with Bored Panda, Daniel Markuson, the cybersecurity expert at NordVPN, said that although there’s no foolproof method to separate truth from fiction, the best thing to be safe is to check the source’s credibility. “This particularly applies to social media platforms because they are optimized to increase engagement and lack appropriate gatekeeping features that filter out misinformation.”

Lol true, they’re called Kilts and not trying to give false information but as far as from what I do know they were more commonplace back then. Could be wrong about that part, and this part, but I guess as the times changed so did the fashion, probably why this kid got in trouble for wearing shorts to his school (dress codes can suck d**k), he could’ve gone the traditional route and wear a kilt but instead he chose to wear something to make a bold statement for a bold protest, and I respect him so much for what he did. 💯

Tea farmers in the Udalguri district of Assam in northern India have figured out that if they let elephants into their plantations they no longer need to use toxic weed-killers. The elephants love the weeds but the tea tastes bitter to them so they don't eat it. They also provide a steady supply of free fertilizer.

My mother remembers vividly that once all those jets started flying over the city that it caused almost a mass hysteria as almost everyone thought they were enemy jets about to bomb us. My mother herself went into a full blown panic, picked me up (I was making my way towards the window), threw me on the bed, threw herself on top of me and started saying all kinds of Prayers. My dad was out working, but eventually came home earlier than he was supposed to. But at that moment in time it was just my mother and I at home. As I had just commented, I have no memory of this or anything else from that day. But I do know there was INTENSE panic and chaos all throughout the city (and even the State). My poor mother was beside herself the whole day. For those who read this, those jets I mentioned were OUR jets up in the air. Our sky guardians. 🙏

People stepped up to the plate and pulled together that day. One of the rare times of unity among us. I was shielded from everything, absolutely everything that transpired that day (I was 4), so I have no recollection of anything from that sad sad day; which, I guess is a good thing. What sucks though, is where we used to live (me and my parents) we had a view of the towers from our windows facing out the front of our apartment building, and apparently I would sit by one of the windows at nighttime and just gaze out staring at the light from the spire from the top of the one building. Mom tells me it would relax me and put me to sleep, gazing at that “little light in the sky”. Sad how not even that I remember.

Daniel argues that it’s vital to weigh the claims against other sources. “If a publication makes monumental claims that are exclusive to that platform, do not take them at face value."

It’s important to be aware that unreliable news sources sometimes impersonate well-known ones by misspelling their names in the URL.

“Similarly, they might use unconventional domain extensions instead of the usual “.com” or “.org.” In general, make sure that your news comes from established, well-known sources. These types of outlets get information directly from primary sources and must uphold their reputation,” Daniel told us a while ago.

Correct. We often underestimate just how much testosterone and estrogen affect us on a daily basis, but they are the primary determinants of a number of physical traits. This is why HRT is so very effective! The main difference between male and female bodies is the balance of hormones over time.

They've done reattachment of (your own) limbs for ages and transplants for awhile. But they've usually been partial, like a severed hand, or forearm. The first successful arm and shoulder transplant was apparently last year. Everything I'd seen before the nerves are the biggest problem and motor control is nowhere near as good as before injury. Not sure if that's improved.

This seems not totally surprising (says me w/ not a lot of knowledge about it). But I'm thinking the arms would get more slender / less hairy due to differences in the hormones feeding to them and also muscle atrophy is she wasn't using them the same way they were used before. The amazing fact of this to me is that her body accepted the arms and she can use them.

There were a lot of unexpected heroes during lockdown, and he was definitely one of them. He made sure his students, and others, received the nutrition they needed to stay safe and healthy during their time away from school.

This guy & thousands more, worked tirelessly to make the best of a bad situation... In true British style, carried on regardless. Im not sure I can understand why there is so much negativity in these comments? I don't think we have a "thankful" quota. We won't run out of grace & appreciation. Being grateful because of the efforts this chap went to doesn't take anything away from a soldier in combat or a civilian in anguish. Using one match to light 3 candles doesn't make any flame less bright. We won't run out & maybe the world will be a nicer place. Maybe x

I’m more noticing schools were open. In states politicians kept closed 18 months longer than needed. Trillions unaccounted for. 9 percent inflation from spending.

If you’re still not sure whether the source is credible, you may want to look into the author and research them in order to be sure their credibility is up to par.

This, of course, requires extra effort rather than mindlessly devouring information online, but “it is also important to weigh our own perception and not let our biases skew our understanding of events.” Daniel’s advice was to seek out differing opinions and try not to associate facts with ideological dogma.

When i was at school ( a long time ago!!) One of my friends mum was deaf and another friends mum was blind. They worked in a local factory together and when it rained one would tell the other how it sounded and the other would do sign language. Reminds me of the film with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. Like, NO ONE should have to suffer with it, but f**k it, if cancer has to be given to anybody give it to someone like ME, don’t give it to a little kid who still has their whole life ahead of them… So f*****g devastating man. Makes my blood boil knowing there’s a cure for the damn disease and they’re withholding it from the public, those with more money than Trump are the ones who get the cure but to hell with the rest of us, right? Please, don’t even get me started. Alright let the downvoting begin. Truth hurts, I know. That’s why it hurts me people, KIDS, are dying from a disease that has a cure to it but no one wants to release for us. Truth hurts indeed.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/man-carry-horse-snakebite/ If you don't want to look it up on Google. The man in both pics is Ukrainian strongman Dmytro Vasilievich Khaladzhi. He did lift the horse "because he could". But nothing to do with a snake bite or walking 3 miles to save it. That story was made up.

The guy is a strongman and does these feats of strength (as you do). He's pretty amazing, but yeah no snake bite... Fact check here: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/man-carry-horse-snakebite/

I can't imagine how much training it takes to get a horse accustomed to being lifted in this manner without thrashing. I assume it's a very brief lift too, as it can't be great for the horse. Makes me nervous for the horse's digestive tract and joints. And soft tissues. And back... 😬

It was pretty common in victorian times, to put a little "window" either in the crypt or incorporated into the burial site. Something about the soul being able to leave, or the ones left behind being able to see inside. It's a comfort thing and very sweet.

One of the few natural bodies of water I would go in and I'd probably still get freaked out after a bit. My mind runs away irrationally and I imagine all sorts of hungry creatures coming up from the depths with their very pointy teeth.

I had to stand up next to a seat that had been claimed by a man's gym bag on a busy bus when I was 8 months' pregnant. I asked him to move his bag but he had his AirPods in and pretended to ignore me. I just sat down on his gym bag and squashed it flat because I was a mega-chonky absolute unit at that point - and not to be messed with.

One of my favorite stories was about a pregnant woman who got on the bus, and there wasn't a place to sit, and after she got on, the bus didn't move. After about 30 seconds, the driver said "This bus ain't movin' until the pregnant lady gets to sit down."

No one offers their seat to anyone anymore. I was on a train home on my first day back to work after kidney failure. I felt like absolute garbage and was completely exhausted. Luckily I got a seat, but a tiny frail old lady with 2 canes that could barely walk got on the train when it was already packed and I knew despite how I was feeling, I had to give her my seat because no one else was offering. As I stood up to offer it to her, a man lurched toward it and was going to take it. When he realised why I got up he came to his senses and allowed her to sit. Had I not given him a dirty look when he tried to take the seat, I doubt very much he would have moved for her to sit down. I will NEVER give up my seat for anyone again after getting home and being very sick while others only cared about themselves. I learned a valuable lesson that I need to start to be selfish, I'm not young anymore and those ways of existing in the public sphere have gone by the wayside.

And that's a big part of why some homeless people in the US refuse to go to shelters; their pets will go into overcrowded city and county shelters. For others, the problem is that their kids will be taken. If we're gonna tackle this problem, we have got to start seeing homeless people as PEOPLE, not just trash to be cleaned up.

I wonder how she feels about having her picture on the internet? Sometimes I think in our bid to know more about the world, we forget to consider whether we have the right to everything. Not saying that because there is anything wrong with being homeless but because the look on her face makes me wonder.

Let's be REAL CLEAR. Only ONE side of the political spectrum sees the homeless as disposable. REPUBLICANS. They've eviscerated affordable housing. Created police cultures that look at homeless as a pestilence. They show up every Sunday in their BS factories and hear "care for the sick" then vote against medicaid. "Feed the hungry" and support anti SNAP politicians. "I was a stranger and you let me in..." NOPE, "BUILD THAT WALL!" Republicans/christian conservatives are THE PROBLEM. Vile, compassionless, fascist, bigots, who enjoy every possible opportunity to exacerbate suffering in the most hypocritical way possible. This country is the "$#ithole" they think of everywhere else, due to their policies and bidding.

But the question here is, where was this shot and did the bees survive or was this photoshoot a disruption to their hive? Because if she did get stung, some bees died just for this picture & it's a bit counterproductive.

As far as I know, a queen bee is taken and placed on the human so the rest of the hive will quietly follow and sit peacefully on the person. Afterwards the queen is placed back and most of the bees again follow the scent of the queen back. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sheep are moved in massive numbers for certain religious festivals that "require" the sacrifice of a sheep. The conditions for the animals are horrific during travel. They are then sold on to men who are unused to handling livestock and slaughtered by them in public. It's foul.

Few people actually accepted their Razzie's in person. Only other one I can think of is Halle Berry back in 2005, when she won it for Catwoman. And this was 3-4 years after she won an Academy Award for Monster's Ball.

The savannah isn't a full "big cat," it's a hybrid of the Serval and the domestic short hair cat. They were bred to be domestic pets. Large cats for sure, but not plucked directly from the wild.

Savannahs are serval/domestic cat hybrids. They are not domesticated big cats. They have a lot of hybrid inviability problems, and most males are completely sterile.

This is not true. I have 2 F2 Savannahs. They are sterile until the F4-F5 generation, just like other hybrids such as mules. Savannahs have less of an issue with health problems than other “pure” breeds due to their lack of line breeding. I do not recommend low generation Savannahs for everyone, they are a lot of cat, but they are in fact, healthy cats. If you want the color and dog like personality, get an SBT Savannah. They truly are a very fun, active breed.

It is NOT a "big cat" it is a man made hybrid of a Serval and a domestic cat. They were bred first in the late 20th century. -- From Wikipedia On April 7, 1986, Judee Frank crossbred a male serval, belonging to Suzi Wood, with a Siamese domestic cat to produce the first Savannah cat, a female named Savannah.[5] That first Savannah was bred with a Turkish Angora male and gave birth to viable F2 kittens in April 1989.[6] In 1996,

It’s not a big cat. It’s a cross between a domestic cat and a serval. A serval itself, while larger than a domestic cat, is also not a ‘big cat’.

nope, not an odd chemical reaction. it's basically a diy skylight. in many villages where electricity is scarce, it can be pretty dark in some corners of homes and huts even during the day. so a diy skylight could help solve that problem. you drill/cut a hole the size of a coke bottle, fill it with water, a bit of bleach to keep the water from getting gross (and thus less transparent), and use a construction adhesive to secure the bottle and keep out rain. groups like "liter of light" [https://literoflight.org/] have helped pioneer this method around the world. they also get solar powered lights into the hands of those in need.

It took me a sec because first I thought they were saying it created light. They are using it like a deck prism in an old boat. The bleach is apparently just to kill bacteria so algae doesn't grow in the bottle. The link below has a rather inspiring video that I think these still shots were taken from. === https://dornob.com/solar-bottle-lamps-water-bleach-10000-liters-of-light/

They figured this out after many people were put into emergency shelters that had no lights after a disaster. Some kid figured this out. Billiant. The reason for the bleach is so the water stays clear.

It was a mistake. She was making chocolate cookies and didn't melt the chocolate before mixing it with the batter, but instead cut it to chips. The pieces didn't melt into the cookies, and ther esult tasted amazing. They're called Chocolate Chips, because the original recipes called for cutting chocolate into chips. Nestlé in vented what we call chocolate chips.

This was actually found to be a myth - and it makes sense. A baker for a hotel doesn't know that chocolate pieces to can't melt into a cookie? Yeah, unlikely. She intentionally created the cookie as an experiment.

I once read about an experiment where they trained flatworms to fear the dark via electrocution. They crushed them up, fed them to other flatworms and voila - the new flatworms were also afraid of the dark despite never having been conditioned to.

Oddly the Tokyo part of the text is correct as the island is part of Tokyo prefecture (adminstrative region). The 2 volcano part however is incorrect as the caldera and cone are structures of the same volcano.

This is not a "mini volcano" inside of a larger volcano. It is one volcano that collapsed during a previous eruption (extremely common, look at Mount St. Helens for an example), and the cone is now being rebuilt inside of the original, collapsed cone.

I agree, but my dad worked at a gas station as a teenager in the 60s. So verified by independent research. Hint: it's the fumes that ignite, not the liquid. The liquid will just extinguish the cigarette. Or match, in my dad's case. But still don't try it at home -- or at the gas station.

"Lighted" is more grammatically correct than "lit". Lighted can be the past tense of a verb, OR an adjective (describing the condition of being illuminated), whereas "lit" is simply a verb.

Just to fill this out. The reason the cigarette doesn’t ignite the gas is not related to vapor vs. liquid. The cigarette is not actually on fire after it is lit and the smoldering cherry does not burn hot enough to auto ignite gasoline vapor. Also, most flammable hydrocarbons need to be a specific fuel to air ratio between 4-6% or else no boom.

I found this out in high school in the '70s by accidental experimentation. I was walking up to the bus at the close of the day (yes, they allowed students to smoke with impunity back then) and I threw my lit cigarette out at the curb -- just a second or so *before* the bus driver could yell "Don't throw your cigarette down! They overfilled the gas tank and it it's spilled into the gutter!!" Too late. I thought it strange that the cigarette was snuffed out rather than causing a conflagration.

It’s the fumes that ignite! My dumba$$ exhusband learned that when he was welding a hole closed in an empty gas tank. It went kaboom! I told him to as water. He didn’t believe me, a girl, who took auto shop and welding in HS.

I bet you could ignite petrol vapor with a lit cigarette if you were inhaling - which makes the cherry really glow. I'm not going to buy cigs to test it but if the hooked up suction hose tot he cig and set it in the vapors coming off the gasoline I bet you could do it.

the internet says this is a thing. doesn't sound perfect but the general idea the conditioner relaxes the fibers in the shirt. I'm guessing it needs to be plant fiber not plastic but not sure. "To help unshrink clothes, first, add 1 Tbsp. of conditioner to a small bucket or container filled with warm water, mixing the product in as much as possible. Fully immerse the shirt in the mixture and let it soak for 30 minutes. Finally, rinse out the conditioner and gently stretch the shirt to your desired size. Let it hang dry before wearing."

It kinda works on plastic fibers, but depends how thick they are. I've used it on sweaters and it works the same on those whether natural or synthetic fibers, but shirts are more difficult. Just mix the water with conditioner while both are room temperature then add the ice. Swirl the garment around a bit and let it sit an hour. Come back and stretch it gently from seam to seam. Any finger marks could make it lumpy if you don't stretch from seams in both directions. If it's not able to stretch enough, leave it in a couple more hours and do the same thing. Rinse in cold water, gently, don't wash. Wring out and air dry. Then you can wash it.

Zebras, Horses, and donkeys are the same genus. Zebras can aslo breed with donkeys. The hybrids are sterile. The two Zebra species are not closely related. One species is more closely related to horses, and they other to donkeys. As a I wrote above, there is no such thing as "zebra". There are two species of the genus Equus in which stripes evolved. Some of the extinct Equus species probably also had stripes.

when you cross two different species, they can't interbreed to produce FERTILE offspring, so the zorse and ligers etc are infertile cos their chromosome number is messed up, and plus they most likely have alot of health problems

Dark hair is thicker. Meaning it doesn't break as easily. Blond on the other hand (Like my scandinavian hair has very fine hairs that break easily) I think how fast it grows however have many factors. Scalp massage, climate, genes etc.

This is sorta true. Some mines have a delayed fuse because they're designed for vehicles and they want to allow the vehicle to move over the mine to get more of the blast. Some anti-personnel mines had a 4 second fuse then launched into the air at which point the main explosion goes off. There are apparently hundreds of different types, so it's always possible some mad scientist made one that needs the weight to be removed before it goes off. https://www.scienceabc.com/innovation/how-do-landmines-work-explosion-dangerous-anti-personnel-anti-tank-explosive-destruction.html

Landmines are not designed to kill, they're designed to maim in the hope that 2 other soldiers will be needed to try and save the life of the person who got their leg blown off. They're evil things.

Yes and no. Some landmines are made for that purpoaee, others are made to disable tanks, and there's truly horrific ones like the small bowtie shaped ones rhat fly up and explode between a soldier's legs to demoralize and frighten their comrades. There's many, many types of landmines.

That's a half truth. There are some mines which are meant to take out personnel (or a small group of soldiers), that explode shortly after being stepped on. Then there are some meant to take out vehicles that have a delayed time of explosion after it is stepped on.

Landmines are one of mankind's worst inventions. They never kill who you want them to kill and they always kill people you don't want to kill. Landmines never won a battle but they get a lot of innocent people killed.

Of course it does. What idiot would design an anti-personnel mine that explodes only when the switch is lifted (A job I would not want, for the record)? Yet it's a trope of countless movies and books. As if google was never invented.

The problem is they're competing with regular users and making it unsafe. We had a narrow stairway with the round metal rails they seem to love near my work. You'd see kids skating and grinding on them even when people are trying to walk up the stairs. If you're a skater, you see a rail with these and you still choose to grind it, then you deserve what happens.

been there, the most serene, peaceful place on earth. Unfortunately, our Victorian age ancestors took 90% of the petrified wood home as souvenirs. Been a federal crime to do so for some time though. The wood is plentiful still but it used to be 20-30 feet (or so) deep of gigantic tree length trunks on top of trunks.

Looks like when we (on the West coast of the US) would get webworm attacks every few summers, depending on the reproductive/hatching cycle. They climb the trees to mate and eat, while they cover the trees and shrubbery in webs and eat the leaves, then drop to the ground and lay eggs in the ground that incubate for a few? years.

Tungsten’s freezing point (where phase changes from liquid to solid) is higher than that of lava. Eg you have to make tungsten hotter than lava to melt it

Not freeze, that's misleading. Tungsten requires a higher temperature to become liquid, so if a liquid such as lava were to come in contact with it, the temperature difference would cause the Tungsten to harder despite the incredible temperatures.

you may have seen a blacksmith dipping a white hot bar of iron into a bath of water before. the water steams and the iron cools off dramatically. i've dropped molten aluminum (Al) in water before. it solidified ("freezes"--a loose use of the term) in mere seconds. and the Al became cool to the touch in just moments. the situation is similar here. liquid tungsten (W) is over 6,000 °F. the average temp. of lava is over 2,000 °F--much cooler than the liquid W. so dropping liquid W in lava would cause the W to cool off dramatically and solidify. at 2000 °F, a sample of W is solid metal, no longer liquid metal. just like dropping molten Al into water!

I did not realize the melting point of tungsten was so much higher than steel. Some numbers for you - -- The temperature of the lava in the tubes is about 1,250 degrees Celsius (2,200 degrees Fahrenheit).----Carbon Steel*: 1425-1540°C (2597-2800°F) Stainless Steel*: 1375 – 1530°C (2500-2785°F) ==== Tungsten/Melting point 6,191°F 3,422°C

Tungsten has a melting point far higher than lava meaning it would not be liquid in contact with lava. What a stupid comment

It doesn't freeze per se, but the temperature of liquid tungsten is so high that it would solidify when it comes into contact with lava, which while still very hot, is much cooler than liquid tungsten.

To be able to sign your name to a patent before the other person has managed to get out their own pen/ink. Alternatively, to imbed your signature so deep into the paper, that it can never be corrected.

Christopher Robin named his bear after another military mascot, Winnie, who was the mascot of the Fort Garry Horse cavalry regiment, until she was too big and they brought her to the zoo, where Christopher Robin met her. "Pooh" was a swan at the zoo who Christopher Robin liked. There are stories of how the kid's stuffed bear became Winnie the Pooh, and why he was named so, but you need to read the books for that.

THESE are actually the birds better described as most closely related to T-Rexes, but not for their superficial similarities. (Small, harmless-looking tinamous are tied; and the evolutionary links between ostriches and T-Rexes are also small and not very T-Rex-like.)

George Washington also only got the job as Commander in Chief for 2 reasons. He was tall, and he wore his old military uniform. Nor did he 'never tell a lie'. He lied all the time. Most of what people think they know about Valley Forge is from the letters he wrote to congress, which where pretty much all lies. Conditions weren't 'pleasant', but they were nowhere near as desperate or horrible as he made them out to be.

This is swarming behavior and bees are less likely to sting. He probably has the queen in a cage and all the workers will have instinctively cluster around her like this. Also it looks like there is something over the front of his face to give him some space to breathe.

I wonder where he put the queen. They are staying on him to be near the queen. Otherwise they would just fly away. Also if they are swarming they usually don't sting. but if it is not an aggressive breed they don't tend to sting. I never covered my head but I've held handfuls of them when I had some hives.

This wasn't before bombs. They had bombs at the same time as this, and air raid bombing in WW1 was common. Flechettes were dropped on trenches, because they got through easier than bombs and pierced armour. They were also nasty, they are actually now illegal to use in war because they are that inhumane.

False. First record of air attacks was the Italo-Turkish War, n 1912 a Turkish pilot dropped hand grenades down on Italian troops. Before WW1 even started, countries were developing bombers.

Bombs won't necessarily kill you if you're hiding in a trench, these were dropped into trenches and were exceedingly lethal. These will absolutely go through your helmet and kill you.

There have been variations of this. The first ones I saw were shaped sort of like really tiny bombs. Same idea - mass + whatever their terminal velocity is = they would go right through ceilings / people / anything that was not pretty well armored.

Sometimes cheetahs take down a smaller prey, typically a baby or juvenile, without killing it and then give it to the cubs to practice on. Cheatahs are also built for speed rather than strength. A typical kill method is to put their mouths over the prey’s snout and suffocate them

    1) This reminded me of the creepiest experience I ever had. This is absolutely true and obviously it turned out ok because I'm posting about. So here goes, about 10 years ago I did a trip to the central west of Queensland, Australia with my father. I was 40ish at the time and was driving him for business. For those who don't know what the country is like have you seen the original Mad Max (The Road Warrior)? Huge open spaces, scrubby vegetation almost desert like and less than one person per square mile, drive for an hour and not see another person. Anyway, we decided to camp beside a dry creek where we'd camped a few times when I was a teenager. Again, no one for miles, no artificial lights, and we have a little popup tent, and a couple camp chairs and a folding table. Had early dinner and called it a night. At about 2 or 3AM I wake with a start. My father is still asleep and I'm like "what woke me?" I realise there is movement outside the tent, bumps and scratching sounds...

PhotoShop or not, keep food in your tent and this is what your last moment on earth will be like. I bought a tent in 2004, and the instructions claimed that packing up a tent while it's wet is the quickest way of destroying it. Nope, keeping food in it will get it destroyed much quicker.

I bet the tattooist tried to tell him it wouldn't work and he didn't want to listen. QR codes are really sensible to blurring. They have to be printed very clearly to work properly. But tattoos always beed a bit and cannot be done that precisely. There's no chance it could ever work. Maybe you could make a barcode work, but definitely not a QR code.

A QR code still works if it is a mirror image. Tried that the other day; code was on a restaurant's window, I could read it from the other side. Slightly neat, totally useless fact.

Imagine if we put the elephant in heels

    Ken Beattie
    Community Member
2 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

This is yet another terribly worded fact. Pressure is Force/Area. Because it's linked to area you're increasing the pressure even if the weight remains the same. Force is Mass x Acceleration. So it's possible to calculate. So for the human, force should be roughly 50x9.8 = 490. Area of an average human foot is roughly 100sqcm x 2, so 200sqcm 0r 0.02 sqm. So pressure = 490/0.02 = 24,500. Elephants range a bit is size, but lets say 4,000kg weight and a foot area of 275sqcm x 4 = 1100, so 0.11sqm. So F = 4000x9.9 or 39200. Pressure = 39200/0.11 = 350,363. So a "flat footed" elephant is generating roughly 14.5 times as much pressure as a human. The heels part gets tricky because it the pressure will vary greatly depending on how much surface area the heels actually have, and how hard it is to get an elephant to wear them.

Elephants walking are much quieter than anyone wearing heels. At night, a herd of elephants could walk by a few metres away without you realising.

Some women do look sexy in heels, yes (but not all). However: Is it worth it? When women wear heels everyday, their toes will become disfigured and look really awful. I love my woman wearing healthier shoes more.

I look at a woman the way I look at anyone - from the face on down. If she hasn't already come across as sexy when I get to her feet, the heels aren't going to do it.

Because some people go the extra mile to prepare for a role. Chameleon or method actors, if you will. Just look at Christian Bale in the Machinist, for an example. His whole diet to prepare for the role was a can of tuna, an apple, and black coffee, and lost 62 pounds to prepare for the role... and this was the year before he played Batman for the first time.

I also received funding requests from people "from Ukraine". There was some "animal shelter" asking by DM in Twitter. I only needed to do a 2 minute checking to see that the account was most likely fake and only retweeted from other accounts. Instead I found one real animal shelter in Ukraine that was also documenting what they did with the donations in pictures and I donated some EUR to them, instead

It’s sad how wrong people get financial gain, about 2 months ago my granddaughter had a heart murmur, they found out she had defective heart and was put on a waiting list for a donor, meanwhile my daughter and her boyfriend had to take medical leave ( both have minimum wage jobs) they have 3 other young kids, while she stayed in the hospital with her he stayed with the other kids, a go fund me was put up, I assumed ok this is a child waiting for a heart, she should get lots of donations, barely 2g, and then you hear stories like this that saddens you, that $ this woman got wound’ve helped them out for 4 months….on a good note they found a donor within a week 🙏
