The cosplay scene is a rapidly growing phenomenon within a much bigger geek culture that's been branching out to the mainstream world more and more. And it's no surprise! San Diego Comic-Con is perhaps the biggest event not only for all the sci-fi fans, best cosplayers, and geeks of all sorts but also one of the greatest opportunities for various films, comics, and TV shows to not only drop their material but also present their stars. Thanks to this popularity, Comic-Con as well as other similar cosplay events, has been expanding and happening all over the world.
Russian Starcon has just concluded and as all these famous cosplayers finally have some time to rest and breathe, thousands of photos of amazing cosplay costumes are being posted all across social media by those who attended. Plague Doctor
Doctors used to look like this in the past, right? Scary. They look like they want to kill you instead of treating you lmao.
Just plague doctors from the 17th century mostly. The idea was that the plague was carried via miasma (bad smells of rotting matter), so the beak of the costume held nosegays and dried herbs to smell nice. It was relatively effective though, since many parts of the costume were made of leather, making it impregnable to the fleas that carry the plague bacteria. They carried the lamp to check in the single, badly lit rooms of the London poor where the plague of 1665 raged. Also, many of them were not trained doctors, since they had fled with their wealthy clients to the country, rather apothecaries who massaged and punctured the pus tumors caused by the illness. Incredibly scary, but mostly for them, since they witnessed hundreds of their patients die in the worst way in front of them. Yay for modern medicine.
Load More Replies...Actually it was filled with fragrant herbs to help ward off the Miasma or "bad air". It was the bad air that was believed to be the cause of the plague.

I especially like that the female cosplayers try to impress with their costumes and not by showing skin. I’ve already seen way too many Slave Leia costumes.
A bit of repetition, which I'm curious about, but overall incredible. The talent and effort put into all these is amazing. And a lot of Star Wars, which made me happy!
Every one of those is impressive. The amount of time & effort put into these...I couldn't do it. Best I can do is dress up as a Starfleet Officer.
Finally a cosplay article with AMAZING cosplayers of all kinds instead of half naked photoshopped girl
