Her written pieces about adventuring and gender have appeared in Smithsonian, The Guardian, This American Life, and elsewhere. Which makes her a role model for jocks and geeks alike.

According to her website, she was training for the Iditarod, a 1,000-mile dog sled race across Alaska. The 31-year-old is, truly, larger than life and she’s the perfect proof that adventuring isn’t gone from the world like some of us think.

Sled dogs are taken care of better than most of your regular doggos and their owners really care about their health. A dog runs only as long as it’s healthy and has the will to go on. No longer, no shorter. That means that sled dog teams are often made of a mix of young’uns (energetic, powerful new recruits) and old’uns (wise, grizzled snow veterans).
Most dog sledding enthusiasts know the epic story of how a pack of canines helped save the Alaskan town of Nome in 1925.
There was an outbreak of diphtheria, but the closest town with a serum to beat the illness was Anchorage, almost 1,000 miles away. While the closest medical teams that could ship the serum was to the Nenana train station, a ‘mere’ 674 miles away.
The town of Nome used a relay of dog sledding teams in the race against time. The last team was led by Gunnar Kaasen and his lead doggo Balto (what a cool name). They were caught in a blizzard with temperatures plummeting to -50 degrees Fahrenheit (-45.6 degrees Celsius) just as they were nearing the journey’s end. But brave Balto knew the trail by scent and guided the team the last 53 miles back to Nome. Thanks to Balto, the outbreak of diphtheria was narrowly averted in Nome.
So, dear Readers, what do you think of Grinch the sled dog? Would you like to raise a canine like him? What do you think of adventurer Braverman? Share your thoughts with other Pandas in the comments section beneath this post. And for all of you feline-lovers out there, don’t be mad at us, we’ll do our best to write an article about sled cats in the future.
Dog sledding enthusiasts and amateurs alike enjoyed Braverman’s story about Grinch
Bored Panda interviewed TheMissingByte who posted Braverman’s story about Grinch on Imgur and helped the tale (not tail) go viral.
“I originally sent this Facebook post to a friend of mine who couldn’t view it correctly as he doesn’t have an account. So I pulled the images together into a gallery so he could see the story. I shared it with the community because I figured people would like,” TheMissyingByte explained how a desire to help out a friend led to Grinch the sled dog’s story getting a boost online and spreading like wildfire.
“The post making it to the front page didn’t surprise me too much, it’s a funny story about a dog. The internet loves that kind of stuff!” TheMissingByte said. “I think what Braverman does is admirable and impressive. She’d make a great role model for young women everywhere if sledding were more widely talked about.”
TheMissingByte also expressed their opinion about following in Braverman’s footsteps and chasing adventure in the 21st century: “If you’ve not done it before, there is still adventure to be had. There is a lot to be said about the difference in watching someone through a screen and being there doing the same thing in person. Get out there and get busy, the world is dying so you should be enjoying what it has to offer while you still can.”
Confused? Likes attention? Likes to pee on things? I've found my spirit animal.
Good boi grinch, you thought there was a bamboozle but you heckin got there in the end!
I love his cute face! My dog is an ordinary mongrel. She is very positive, sweet, enthusiastic, quite submissive and you could stroke her to death. She also very, very stupid. You can't have everything. My previous dog was very intelligent but crazy, distant and fighting for dominance. Oh well. But the stories I can tell!
My dog is his twin lost bro. I'm laughing so hard right now! XD
And THAT is why we love ALL dogs for whatever talents they posess!
Great story! Especially liked the follow up story shared to educate others on how sled dogs are cared for, respected and valued. ❤️Mr. Grinch
I love Grinch and Jenga! Both are absolutely adorable. His short term memory just forgot, I love this!
I can relate to this as I, too, have a WLD: weird little dog. i'll try to make this brief. her mom was being fostered while she was pregnant and she had some issues when she was born. we think she may have been oxygen deprived and have some issues. but, she is a sweetie.
And, of course, I noticed right off that it is a "flock" of turkeys ...
Aww little dummy did his best and became a hero (and internet famous)
Should have named him "Rantanplan" 😂 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rantanplan
Blair will never know that Grinch saved her from Slenderman, who was hiding in the trees.... waiting...
TYLER DUFFY AND NOTSOSWIFT ARE REALLY DUMB DOGS BUTT WE STILL LOVE THEM
Reminds me of the dog in Hyperbole & a Half. Love ya, DerpyDawg!
Um no, all mushers do not take great care of their dogs. Did you know dogs in the 1925 run that you just glamorized? Look up The August Fund which rescues Iditarod dogs and then tell me how great they take care of their dogs buddy.

Load More Replies...I knew there had to be at least on here to say something like this. Dogs LOVE to please. Do they look like they are in any pain? Distress? This is what dogs are for. This is what they live for. Most Americans (I am proudly one), unlike I, seem to think that loafing on the couch with their dog and stuffing their faces while watching Judge Judy is how a dog wants to live its life. Nope! They want to play, run, go on expeditions, whether it's around the block or around the state pulling a sled with 9 of his besties. And just because he isn't an Alaskan Malamute doesn't mean he can't do the job or doesn't enjoy it. I'm a female and a firefighter. I'm sure there are many here who think women shouldn't be firefighters. I guess I don't "fit the mold." If someone had told me all I could do was sit behind a desk for 40hrs/wk and type I'd be crazier than I already am! I was born to help people. I love it. It is my calling. This sweet pup found his calling (along with the other dogs) to have
