True for bananas, but surely there are other fibrous, resistant leaves. Like figtrees leaves which are fairly common in Mediterranean countries.

That's not new for us here in Nagaland, or in the north eastern states of India. We use it to pack edible items like fruits, vegetables, meat, etc. Also as temporary roofing materials & bed in the rice fields.

We used to use it in southeast asia, but as more land turned into houses there are less banana plants around, so people started using plastic since it's cheaper and easier to find.

You can use the bottom of a springform pan, also. Lemon will not only kill the natural fish's flavor, but will also overcook it. If you like your fish lemon-ey, just add some zeste on top instead (grated lemon skin)
