They actually don't dry because of the dense fur and get moldy and their hair falls off and doesn't grow back

I don't understand bathing cats either, though of course if it's got something particularly nasty in it's fur or needs to for medical reasons, that's different. I wonder how many of the cats pictured fit either of those categories though. How many people do it for the funny photos or some misguided idea that a cat can't clean itself? I don't even bath our dog. When we got her from the SPCA, their advice is that dogs don't need baths unless they've been swimming in the sea, and then just a rinse off. She's short haired and people often comment on how shiny her coat is. Used dog shampoo on her one time and she lost her shine, so never again. If she's smells, I've discovered it's her bedding or her collar that smell, not her, and wash those often.

When my dog was little she would always run to the garden right after bath time and roll in the grass. Now she digs first then rolls in the dirt.
