30 Of The Worst Work Safety Examples Ever, As Shared In An Online Group Dedicated To Them (New Pics)
There are many things that can go wrong at work. But as far as your health and safety goes, your employer has to protect you and tell you about health and safety issues that may affect you. Workplace risk factors include but are not limited to chemicals, biological agents, physical factors, adverse ergonomic conditions, allergens, and psychosocial factors.
From making sure there are enough first-aid resources to minimizing potential risks at all costs, these are the least employees can do. And if not, the chances are they will get busted on the r/OSHA subreddit, which is entirely dedicated to reminding people to stay safe at work. Borrowing its name from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the community's description says “Safety First!” and its 745k members mean it.
So let’s see what kind of workplace disasters waiting to happen they came up with right below and make sure to check out our previous posts on r/OSHA here and here.

Just Started As The Safety Guy Of A New Plant. We've Got A Little Ways To Go...
Previously, Bored Panda reached out to the moderator -eDgAR- who was happy to share some insights on the r/OSHA community. The mod said that the online community is meant to be lighthearted, where everyone can come for a laugh at how ridiculous some people can be.
"It's not meant to be a place for serious discussions about safety, although oftentimes comments can actually get into great analysis about the issues shown in posts, which is great," they commented. However, unlike other subreddits, "we don't get a crazy amount of posts and have seen days with only a handful of posts. If you're one of the lucky first, chances are you'll get to the top," -eDgAR- explained.

it's amazing really how few people realize that the single most common issue with forklifts is sudden and catestrophic failure of the hydraulic lift...
Oh f*****g bullshit. Never EVER has this been brought up as a health and safety issue by anyone in any context. Leaking hydraulic lines, yes. Bad fittings, yes. Importance of maintenance and regular safety inspections, yes. Inexplicable sudden collapse just because, only on certain planetary alignments when the Earth is in the house of the novitiate programmer when it passes through a field of commented code.

Note the slightly declined fork blades. I hope that there's no vibrations or movement of the car.
No. They're perfectly level because dude has obviously done this many times before and knows that if they're tilted too much one way or the other then the chain will slide making it impossible to get the car at the height you want. Now, if vibrations did ever just happen, and if vibrations were enough to cause that car to move, then it would roll, either forward or backward as it has nowhere else to go, and in the case of backward then it moves about a metre max before the chain reaches the apron or the boot hits the mast and maybe dude is donked on the head, or more likely forward in which case it moves, remaining in that same orientation, up to a metre or so at which point it would fall a metre away from the guy. Is this setup perfectly safe? No. Is it ideal? Definitely not. Is it likely to result in a crushing accident? Hardly.

Oh, there are big hefty fines in the U.S. too. A few of these do appear to be in other countries tho, and a few are DIY jobs.
