Did you know that shark pregnancies can last 3 years, giraffes only sleep for 2 hours, and pigs can’t see the sky?

I’ve been illustrating these adorably sad facts and sharing them online for less than 2 months, and so far 6,500 people on Instagram have learned and laughed, and gotten slightly depressed.

They can't jump for a reason I guess *shrug* Imagine if elephants are able to jump or act like a dog. We're doomed.

They do remember, I had a pet crow when I was really small. And he would remember my cousin when he visits. My brother did not visit often, but he remembered.. And I'm pretty sure it was not a raven ;)

Dogfish have the longest known gestation period of any shark, at 18 to 24 months. Basking sharks and frilled sharks appear to have even longer gestation periods, but accurate data are lacking.

Awwwhhhh....poor beez...Everyone if you see a bee just stay out of its way and let it do its thing....they work most of there lives and people are saying there population is decreasing. So next time if you're about to kill a bee, just think...if you kill that bee its just one step closer for death to bees, and fresh tasty honey....

There was a whole movie on this. It's called the Bee Movie. The bees stopped humans from just getting honey for free, but then that stuffed up nature's course. So it's a good thing we take their honey

Fire ant queens sleep 8 hour periods every day and live for years. Their workers take about a hundred, few min, naps a day so enough are always awake to protect the colony, but usually only live a few months.

American periodical cicadas aren’t sleeping the entire 17 years they’re underground. Much of the time they’re digging tunnels and building feeding cells, tapping into roots and feeding, vying with other cicadas for space along a crowded root system, growing (they experience four phases or instars while underground), avoiding unfavorable conditions like flooding, and possibly actively avoiding predators like moles and voles. Yes, cicadas can sleep — or at least the insect version of sleep called torpor — but they are definitely not asleep for 17 years.

false! Their genealogy has been identified, they're an offshoot of the Mustiloidae superfamily along with raccoons, weezels and skunks (all of these are families). Giant pandas have been identified as bears, so no relation. Walruses? I don't think that was even in the cards.

As of 2016, birds, dolphins, elephants and great apes (including humans) have the capacity to recognize themselves in mirrors.

Also false. Puma, cougars, and mountain lions are the same animal but Jaguars are a completely different animal. Who came up with these "facts"?

Yeah seriously, Jaguars and pumas are incredibly different, I don't know how you could mix the two up XD

Indeed, Kimberly. Just look at their latin names. Panthera onca - Jaguar vs. Puma concolor - Cougar. Definitely the same, right? ;) Make me doubt these "facts", except few which I already knew.

Jaguars and leopards and panthers are the same animal though.

Leopards and panthers are the same (panthers are leopards with a mutation which makes their fur black) but jaguars are a different animal (although this black fur mutation can also exist in jaguars). Leopards are found in Africa and Asia, Jaguars in the Americas. In terms of this picture, pumas, cougars and mountain lions are all the same but jaguars are certaintly a different animal entirely as many people have pointed out.
