Did you know that shark pregnancies can last 3 years, giraffes only sleep for 2 hours, and pigs can’t see the sky?
I’ve been illustrating these adorably sad facts and sharing them online for less than 2 months, and so far 6,500 people on Instagram have learned and laughed, and gotten slightly depressed.

They can't jump for a reason I guess *shrug* Imagine if elephants are able to jump or act like a dog. We're doomed.
that was an baby you know! haha and it was funny
Load More Replies...This I know to be true and they pass the knowledge to the next generation as well.
This could present a problem for me. I havent been very nice to crows. They leave animal parts in my backyard!
Ravens are not crows... Crows won't remember s@#* about your face. Now you all know.
They do remember, I had a pet crow when I was really small. And he would remember my cousin when he visits. My brother did not visit often, but he remembered.. And I'm pretty sure it was not a raven ;)
Load More Replies...most equine will not sleep without another equine present to watch out for them.
It takes more teeth and less brain to leech the world like humans do.
Load More Replies...So does the government. Unfortunately there are 150 people in the government...
She won't actually die. They just stay in heat and it can lead to some health complications.
Dogfish have the longest known gestation period of any shark, at 18 to 24 months. Basking sharks and frilled sharks appear to have even longer gestation periods, but accurate data are lacking.
Hate to burst your bubble... but 2 years vs 4 the shark has it beat.
Load More Replies...This is false. I've seen my own dogs react to things on a T.V. screen. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2015/01/150111-animals-dogs-television-pets-science-tv-behavior/
I'm sure my dog can see TV. He would launch off the couch and run up barking when another dog would appear (volume or none!).
Load More Replies...My dog can, he actually barks everytime a dog (or horse) comes on the screen.
Dogs can see television. It's a sad myth to perpetuate that they can't.
Dogs cannot see in the color spectrum humans can, so they can see TV just not the way we do.
This is truly false. Hasn't anyone watch Too Cute on the Animal Planet lately? Even my cats watch TV. They love watching Jack Hanna.
Why shouldn't dogs be able to see TV? My dog will bark and jump around if she sees another dog on the screen!
That is false. I've seen if a dog appears on tv my dog barks and gets behind the tv when they dissapeare
Awwwhhhh....poor beez...Everyone if you see a bee just stay out of its way and let it do its thing....they work most of there lives and people are saying there population is decreasing. So next time if you're about to kill a bee, just think...if you kill that bee its just one step closer for death to bees, and fresh tasty honey....
There was a whole movie on this. It's called the Bee Movie. The bees stopped humans from just getting honey for free, but then that stuffed up nature's course. So it's a good thing we take their honey
i watched it too, and it was boring but it gives you reasons dont kill bees
Load More Replies...You do not pass Go. You do not collect $200... and may God have mercy on your soul.
Load More Replies...An exception is the foxes who live in Duluth, Minnesota. Just ask my cat.
They all return to the beach they were born at about the same time, and they live long, so it's likely that they will meet their moms there. Though they won't know it.
Michelle G. Why aren't you here to debunk this one? Common Michelle, pleasetell me this one isn't true.
They don't sleep lol. They rest. They sit still and recover energy. Not sleep.
Load More Replies...Fire ant queens sleep 8 hour periods every day and live for years. Their workers take about a hundred, few min, naps a day so enough are always awake to protect the colony, but usually only live a few months.
American periodical cicadas aren’t sleeping the entire 17 years they’re underground. Much of the time they’re digging tunnels and building feeding cells, tapping into roots and feeding, vying with other cicadas for space along a crowded root system, growing (they experience four phases or instars while underground), avoiding unfavorable conditions like flooding, and possibly actively avoiding predators like moles and voles. Yes, cicadas can sleep — or at least the insect version of sleep called torpor — but they are definitely not asleep for 17 years.
actually whales are closely related to hippos due to the fact they evovled form the same animal
Load More Replies...Order: Carnivora Family: Ailuridae Genus and Species: Ailurus fulgens
how is it related to walruses????! it makes me sad...… But! it might be related to racoon and the giant panda! now I'm happy
false! Their genealogy has been identified, they're an offshoot of the Mustiloidae superfamily along with raccoons, weezels and skunks (all of these are families). Giant pandas have been identified as bears, so no relation. Walruses? I don't think that was even in the cards.
The sleep behaviour of giraffes was looked at in detail by Tobler & Schwierin (1996) who showed that giraffes slept both while standing and while recumbent for a total of 4.6 hours per 24 hours.
Stop correcting everything you whining fat c**t!

Load More Replies...wait what if its born in sunset?!?! but that is super duper depressing.....
They nest in tree holes where they often sleep together in curled up positions. Their territories are marked by fecal and scent markings. Their diet consists primarily of fruits and flowers and they seem to play a part in the pollination of certain plants
But wait! Worms are double-gendered or hermaphrodites! They got female AND male organs! So they love themselves basically! :D
And no bones. Also if you cut it in half it both parts will grow another end.
actually only a bunch of animals are capable of recognizing themselves in the mirror or anywhere else
As of 2016, birds, dolphins, elephants and great apes (including humans) have the capacity to recognize themselves in mirrors.
Load More Replies...Also false. Puma, cougars, and mountain lions are the same animal but Jaguars are a completely different animal. Who came up with these "facts"?
Yeah seriously, Jaguars and pumas are incredibly different, I don't know how you could mix the two up XD
Load More Replies...Indeed, Kimberly. Just look at their latin names. Panthera onca - Jaguar vs. Puma concolor - Cougar. Definitely the same, right? ;) Make me doubt these "facts", except few which I already knew.
Leopards and panthers are the same (panthers are leopards with a mutation which makes their fur black) but jaguars are a different animal (although this black fur mutation can also exist in jaguars). Leopards are found in Africa and Asia, Jaguars in the Americas. In terms of this picture, pumas, cougars and mountain lions are all the same but jaguars are certaintly a different animal entirely as many people have pointed out.
Load More Replies...If I were to sleep for 17 years I would wake up in my mid thirties. That is sad. ):
