If you're serious about your pastries, you've probably already heard of the French chef Cédric Grolet, who's according to the Relais Desserts association, was the best pastry chef in 2016. If you haven't heard of him, though, there's no better way to get introduced to Cédric's work than through his tribute to the famous Rubik's Cube puzzle in the form of Rubik's Cake!
As you're about to see below, the impressive array of geometrical shapes is a running theme in Cédric's edible art pieces. From Rubik's cakes to millimeter-perfect flower muffins, this French food artist proves again and again why he's considered to be the very best in the business.

I could definitely solve this, I would just eat it and when anyone asks if I can solve it the rubix cube won't be there.....muahahahaha...
Are those "real" cakes or are they "just" chocolates (pralines) arranged as some form of cake? I am not sure what the exact definition of cake is, but looking at picture 10 it looks more like an arrangement of different chocolate candies. Or are those small cubes a small version of the cake? Please don't get me wrong. I don't want to be Mr. smarty pants here, I am just curious!
They are cakes ....petit fours. Most petit fours are way too sweet because their fondant frosting covers such small cakes. Fondant is very sweet ,anyway.
We would actually call those mignardise rather than petit fours. Petit fours are more pastry like (think mini eclairs) while mignardises are definitely little cakes/confectionery
Thanks for explaining it to us Nancy. I definitely learned something today. :)
I was thinking the same thing with the cut open ones? Could be either or both?
Yep I agree w u
Good lord, nom.
stacked 2 perfection - yum!!!
