People in the same age group tend to have similar interests and even if two people are complete strangers, they still might share some of the same memories. For example, remembering what TV shows they both liked as kids or what major world events they have witnessed.

These kinds of things can actually give away your age even if you don’t say the number or your birth date. Reddit user teddyjr32378 asked “Without mentioning age or date of birth, how old are you?” and the thread got pretty popular, being upvoted 46.6k times with 45.7k people getting deep into the nostalgia, naming movies, songs or other recognizable things that would let other people guess what age they are.

What is the thing you can say about yourself that would let others pinpoint the year you were born? Let us know in the comments and don’t forget to upvote the submissions that you can relate to the most!

They sure did. And they always had "cooler" videos than VH1. Video killed the radio star... then reality shows killed the video!

You have died of dysentery. (We had this on the computer labs in grade school AND in junior high. I live in Oregon, so we ended up playing this during computer class a LOT...)

We used to name the family members after classmates. "Hey, Joey, you just died of dysentery!" "Aw man!" I think we had the 256 colour version on our class computers.

I lived in the country. We had a rotary phone and a party line. This means there were 3 other households that used the same line. When the phone rang you had to wait to see which ring it was before you answered. We also had an older lady who pick up the phone on every ring to listen to every bodies phone calls. lol

Yep. Been there done that. Also remember a little further back, when there was only one computer per classroom, WAAAY in the back of the room. And the 30 or so students in the class had to take turns using it, one at a time. You got half an hour exactly on it, and that was it. And then you had to wait for everybody else in the class to use it, before your turn cycled around again. You got to use it twice a week, if you were lucky, and only for writing or educational games, of course. But that didn't matter. You didn't have a computer at home, unless you were rich. So using that class computer to write stories or even solve math problems for that short 30 minutes felt like driving a Corvette, when you normally only got to ride the city bus. It was powerful, and exciting, and it made you look smart and sophisticated! That 30 minutes was the highlight of your whole week! When it was your turn to use the computer, it was a joyous day indeed!

I played this at school in the 5th through 8th grade! I would get anxiety whenever it showed the wagon attempting to cross the river and suddenly it'd tip over and the Wheels would float away! I HATED that ! But yes that was such a big deal back then to get your turn to play on the computer. Good times !

Edit: the more I think about this and read others' comments, while I was indeed in 2nd grade / 7yrs old, I'm almost positive school was out and I watched this at someone's house with my mother. I know we watched it on CNN and I can see that thin red stripe at the bottom of the screen and that font they used in the 80s in my head and no elementary school would've had access to that channel back then.

I wore Dittos and high waisted bell bottom jeans to high school. We had a rotary phone in our house. We didn't wear seat belts in the car until I was older and most cars only had lap belts. There weren't car seats when I was a baby. Wooly Bully was the number one song the year I was born and Flashdance... What A Feeling was the number one song the month and year I graduated high school.
