    The first sentence is misleading. Ashlar masonry is a construction technique using blocks of dressed stone for which there is evidence since prehistory almost wherever stone is used as a building material. The Incans' ashlar masory is somewhat unusual in that the blocks aren't orthogonal and are fitted together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle for young kids. However even that isn't uniquely Incan.
