I believe it's a gelatin glaze they put on to get that shine. I saw a recipe for galaxy cakes that used it for a glass-like shine before but I could be wrong 🤷🏻♀️

Ever since the r/Baking subreddit was created in April 2009, it became one of the main places of refuge on Reddit for all baking loving souls out there. Members of this online community seem really kind, helpful, and ready to inspire everyone around them with their amazing skills and wonderful creations. "For all your baking needs," the moderators wrote in the community description. "Recipes, ideas and all things baking related. Cakes, cookies, pies, tarts, muffins, scones, short- rye- wheat- and naan breads welcome!" Just the thought of a world with so many tasty baked treats gets our appetites going.
We managed to get in touch with a moderator who looks after the group to have a little chat about the community. Since the original creator is no longer around, the moderator wasn’t sure about the inspiration behind creating this page. However, they revealed that they personally "joined the subreddit to learn about baking in general, and I really enjoy seeing other people's creations."

OP said that she did it with a almost bittersweet chocolate cake, because she doesn't like it to be too sweet, with a chocolate icing and a thin vanilla buttercream over the chocolate for decorative purposes. It sounds scrumptious to me. Edited to say; OP is 17 years old and she made this for her birthday cake. It's very lovely.

I only attempted a gingerbread house once. The most simplistic one possible. The experiment ended in me throwing the damn thing across the kitchen against the wall whilst a barrage if the worst language spewed forth. I siunk to the floor and sobbed for 15 minutes. Seeing this legit triggers me.

The decorative piece is made by making a hard candy recipe out of sugar, and the glaze for the cake is made from unflavored gelatin like *Knox* brand, flavor if you want to add, color, if you want to add, and the white color is sweetened condensed milk. In various recipes online it suggests that the glaze kinda has the mouth feel of a gum or rubber when eating it, lol. Like if you've ever gotten a corner of your jello not stirred up enough, it's very rubbery, I know I've done that.

I usually hate strawberry flavored things as the taste never matched the real thing. Then found out lots of bakers now use freeze dried fruits especially strawberries and that made me happy! This, is so awesome, i was to just take a bite out of it!

I googled it: the trick is to take a pantyhose (or preferably a food-safe cheese cloth) and put the icing through that before it goes in the piping bag. It will come out even with a good flow, no clumps.

Inside I emptied the powder from those cappuccino sachets, 10 mini marshmallows and 2 chocolates. I then put it in a gift box with 2 home made gingerbread people and a ca day cane. I wrote on a card a serving suggestion. 1 empty bauble contents into a mug of hot milk, stir with the candy cane for an added minty flavour and dunk the gingerbread people in. Other years I have also done biscuits, truffles, fudge and chocolates etc.

It’s pull apart gooey little pieces of baked rolls. I believe there is cinnamon and brown sugar in the glaze. You don’t cut it, you just pull the little balls off. It can be used for anytime of the day.
