Women Post Selfies With Half-Made-Up Faces To Fight Makeup Shaming
Women who love to wear a lot of makeup can sometimes be accused by others of being insecure or of being overly concerned with impressing men, but Nikkie, a Youtuber famous for her makeup tutorials and expertise, wants to change all that.
After she posted a video showing the power of makeup and how much she loves it, women started to post their own half-made-up selfies on Instagram, sharing their own insights with the hashtag #ThePowerOfMakeup. Some women enjoy makeup because it's fun, others because it makes them feel better, and yet others because it's an art form!

I think that you guys are missing the point. The only reason you say she's prettier without makeup is because it's cool and "empowering" to say that now. She's pretty when she feels pretty. With or without makeup.
Either that or people really do think this way. No matter how bad you think of people some are honestly kind.
Load More Replies...UUUGHHHH.. you guys are making her point, and making yourselves look stupid. When you say things like that, you are devaluing her choice to do what she wants with her own face and body. It is a subtle but real judgement. You are not complimenting her, you are foisting your opinions of how she should be beautiful, onto her. 'Hidden behind way too much mascara', is a direct judgement of her choice to wear as much damn mascara as she wants. It's even more maddening when women say stuff like that. Ugh.
She can wear however much makeup she wants, but I still think that in her particular case I like without makeup better. Doesn't mean that she has to do one way or the other, or that I'm judging her. Actually I feel like I'm judging the world's view of makeup, because it's changing her natural beauty into something that society has defined as beautiful. It kind of bums me out. But I'm not judging her choices.
Load More Replies...So much more beautiful w/o makeup! So big and wonderful eye(s) witch gets hidden behind way too much mascara
She's really beautiful without any makeup. But with it she's just a girl like thousands, nothing special.
I am so jealous if her perfect complexion! She looks absolutely gorgeous both ways
Her foundation matches her skin tone so perfectly that I was extremely confused at first
Skelley, you're the one leaving rude comments on these pictures. It sounds like YOU'RE the one who needs some attention. On the point, these girls are artists and are gorgeous with and without makeup.
Load More Replies...your Make-up is wonderful done! it looks like glamour but not too much!
No. I think she has really overdone the makeup. Itis not a good look for her at all. But she is naturally pretty.
Load More Replies...Skelley Rodriguez needs to needlessly insult beautiful women to feel like she exists
Load More Replies...Beautiful either way a bit heavy on the eyebrow for my taste but she isn't wearing it to impress me :)
this experiment shows that everyone is beautiful with or without make up like my post if you agree
Glamorous! She looks like an actress, model. Makeup enhances her already good features.
Not natural looking , huge lips and that one eyebrow becomes huge !!!
Load More Replies...Her makeup is very light, and airy, and the freckles are still visible.
Load More Replies...either way is fantastic I think without looks like a day on the beach the makeup side a night out with someone special!
100% gorgeous regardlesss! Whatever makes her feel that way!! She rocks both looks!
Nooooo....eyelashes are just awful. Don't do that to your beautiful face.
Load More Replies...OMG, how is possible to have such a perfect skin??? I want to know the secret :(
Of course the make-up looks cool but, I must say you have great skin without it. You could totally get away with just doing your lips and eyes for flare. You could also go without any make-up and still look fantastic!
There are many reasons to it, and girls and guys who wear makeup are completely fine doing it but if you think your ugly I don't :)
Load More Replies...Um, if u want to be beautiful, work on that smile girl!!! Other than that, ur good.
What the hell? It's not like you look any better
Load More Replies...Yolanda is somebody that probably needs a lot of make up herself :) How can you be so rude? Shocking.
I feel like Yolanda is like a neighborhood cat or something, who just comes up, begging for attention. She is freaking gorgeous either way and the makeup is her damn opinion.
She is pretty with or without makeup. Has an interesting face. Beautiful.
Beautiful either way. Her face, her choice. Whatever makes her happy. And Yolanda, you seriously need to STFU!! I've never understood why women turn on each other. You are one of those judgmental women who will look for and nitpick over every little thing. Maybe you need to go look in the mirror and judge yourself, instead of being so rude as to judge others. SO.....STFU!!!!
Her entire face in this picture reminds me of Kristen Stewart :/
Yolanda needs to get her head out of her a*s and put some makeup on herself
I like this one, 'cause it's minimal, so it doesn't detract from her natural beauty.
Naturally gorgeous.. I have to put in a little more effort (stubborn circles) lol
It's not your place to say that, sir. That's the point of this entire thread.
Load More Replies...i love your eye make up! its gorgeous and it frames perflectly your beautiful eyes! :)
Either way is good your eyes and freckles make me smile and feel happy.
I don't think you understand the point of these posts
Load More Replies...I don't think she does. I think that truly, you can't tell with the quality of the photo.
Load More Replies...I think she looks pretty either way, but especially without! You're RUDE Yolanda !
Says the person with over glorified picture, you must be hideous...if you are compelled to state that she needs make up.
Looks like 2 different people. Which can actually be a good thing. Gorgeous! Which ever one she chooses on any given day, she's still beautiful.
All of these girls/women are beautiful with and without. Makeup is an "art form" and let us not forget that art imitates life! So, go for it! Just don't forget to wash it off before bedtime!
You're still a b***h. Who are you to tell people they 'need' makeup?
Load More Replies...Honsetly I think you're being horribly superficial by commenting "Needs makeup" or "Doesn't need makeup" on every picture. Who are you to dictate who's beautiful or not? In my opinion, all these women are beautiful.
Load More Replies...Shut up Christine. You're not a lighting technician. She's beautiful.
...said the woman with overexposured face on the profile picture, haha :P
Load More Replies...Beautiful, such beautiful bone structure, I want your cheek bones! Beautiful with or without ♥
Thank you so much, Nicola! :)
Load More Replies...again, completely beside the point of this article....
Load More Replies...The one with the makeup reminds me of that Ballerina movie. Beautiful.
Get out Christine. You are so rude. This picture is gorgeous, filter angle and all.
dude ur one ugly b***h to be judging these women
Load More Replies...I think this girl missed the point, she's wearing full foundation and lipstick
No, I think you missed the point. It's to not shame or judge. She's not wearing full foundation though, if you look you can see a rose color on her right side. As for the lipstick, it's hard to tell. Some people just have nice colored lips. She could just be wearing a color that's similar to her skin tone.
Load More Replies...Christine, your profile picture is at an awful angle, with light on half your face and making you look real dumb when your coming on to every photo on here and talking about the angle and lighting. Shut up. And Christina, have you even read a single thing about this thread? That's entirely for her to decide! She is gorgeous with the makeup she chooses. That lipstick color compliments the skin perfectly! So pretty!

did you think about how hypocritical is to tell women in the first place, that they can do whatever they want to do with their bodies and then judge them, tell them what they shouldn't do. it is just not how things work. it is their body, our body, and we decide for ourselves. we shouldn't let others to tell us what we can or cannot do with our bodies. maybe you think she is prettier without makeup, but she may not see the same as you do when she looks in the mirror. remember that.
tbh they look better without makeup ; n; or maybe they exaggerated their makeup on purpose?
Everyone who thinks they're being kind by telling someone they look better without makeup: it's like if one of these ladies painted you a picture, and you turned around and said, "Oh, I wish you hadn't done that. Your poems are better." People work hard on makeup! Appreciate it!
I'd be feeling this super much, IF women did not feel like they couldn''t leave the house without makeup, IF women weren't treated as sexual objects and were blamed for it for their looks, and IF the cosmetic industry didn't profit from promoting poor self-esteem in women. But, you know. Sure, wear whatever you want, as long as you're not treating women choosing to NOT wear make-up with any less respect and support. But the cosmetic industry is just f*****g horrible in several ways, and you are supporting them by buying and promoting their s**t, so just... be aware of that, I guess.
I think it's worth talking about the fact that a lot of women don't feel valued or acceptable without makeup and won't leave the house before putting it on. That's a bad thing. Also, women being construed and treated as sexual objects. Also bad thing. And the make-up industry earns big money promoting poor self-esteem in women. Also a bad thing. I don't see how this does anything to stop any of that. Of course there's nothing wrong with wearing make-up if you want to and yes it is an art form, but I feel like this is another issue women are told to needlessly fight about while the cosmetic industry - who WANTS you to feel bad about how you look without make-up - laughs all the way to the bank.
We can all do pretty much what they want with our bodies...if it doesn't hurt anyone and doesn't do us harm - why should any one care? We all have a choice of the self expression & its an ART as well. Read also my post - http://biloshytska.com/make-me-up/

That's like if one of these ladies painted you a picture, and you turned around and say, "Oh, I wish you hadn't done that. Your poems are so much nicer." People work hard on makeup, and spend a ridiculous amount of money! Girls don't always wear makeup bc they're insecure with their natural faces! It's a hobby, and a work of art that's constantly being dismissed as 'petty girl stuff', when in reality it's incredibly intricate and difficult!
Oh goodness ... love them for who they are. Just because you don't like makeup, doesn't mean they shouldn't. They are showing here that they love both sides of the spectrum! (Girls who don't love their face without makeup would not be showing it here!!) Some of you could take a lesson from loving all ways of existing and being, not just your own ...
